[Bug 147369] Re: system-config-printer fails to automatically configure a printer
I uninstalled all printers and removed them from the computer (USB). I rebooted. I connected my HP Deskjet 5940 to the USB. After a few seconds I was given the tip that the printer was found and installed. It had been recognised by both the System/Administration/Printing tool and the HPLIP Toolbox, having the URI that was not working previously (i.e. hp:/usb/Deskjet), BUT It worked flaulessly!... Job is done and it really should have been done. Bug seems to be fixed. I will inform friends of mine who are also beta-testing Gutsy and had the same problem. My only thought now, is why jobs are compiled continuously to the printer... I mean whatever I send for printing takes a job-number ever increasing (for instance I send a test page and it is printed as job... 45), but I cannot find how I reset the counting. If it is something worth considering, let us now please. Thanks for the fix! [Bug 95484] Re: PDF Export Dialog shows no labels next to options - rendering issue
A positive update. I have possibly found the cause of this problem, for me at least. My default system locale is English, South Africa. In OpenOffice.org, under Tools Options Language Settings Languages: If the setting for User Interface is set to Default or English (South Africa) , I have problems with the dialogues not being complete. If I change the User Interface setting to English (UK) the dialogues are all correct. This tends to indicate that the translations or language packs for the OpenOffice.org interface/dialogues are missing or not complete (most likely) for the South African and other locales. Hopefully this will point us in the right direction. ** Attachment added: Picture of language settings dialogue. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9690177/ooo1.png -- PDF Export Dialog shows no labels next to options - rendering issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95484 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also having the same problem here. Nvidia 7300, on an ASUS M2NVP-VM, have a 6150 onboard but disabled. AMD X2 4200+ with 2G DDR2 800 ram (4 X 512). I am running Gutsy beta, video driver is 100.14.19 with Compiz-Fusion enable, experiencing about 1 or more an hour. None with affects disabled. I did not want to install 100.14, but wanted to install 9636, but system would not let me. I also tried turning off cpu scaling in bios. (Cool and Quiet) Tried everything I could think of to remove 100.14 but again was thwarted by system. This is on a generic (i386) kernel. I have another Gutsy install on the same machine but with the 64 kernel. I was able to install 963X, it is having no lockup problems at all with Compiz running and I can run with cpu scaling. [Bug 137598] Re: Screen brightness resets to default (maximum) on idle with AC plugged in
Here is the patch I came up with. Basically, when the idle callback is called, this will stop it from changing the brightness if idle dimming is disabled. [Bug 148432] gnome-panel freezes randomly if restarted
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel If you run 'killall gnome-panel' the panel normally gets restartsed.
