[Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs
Guys, please actually read the stuff others wrote before... As I said, the problem with gedit is the save routine. It relies on moving the file that is being edited while the filehandle is kept open. This works for most filesystems, but it fails on cifs and sshfs (by the way, it works with smbfs). There are 2 ways to fix this: 1. do not move open files 2. fix support for moving open files in cifs and sshfs I would just change the save procedure and go with the first solution, but the gedit devs don't like the idea of changing their way of saving files because any other solution would require a full copy of the text file (for backup) or open up racing conditions if someone else tries to edit the same file. -- gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/34813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 172419] Re: firefox freezes and turns gray
I have been plagued with this bug as well. Firefox grayed out almost constantly when I opened new windows. At first I thought is was caused by Flash but disabling flash didn't solve it. The add-ons I have enabled are Flash, Webdeveloper, Addblock and Ubufox. [Bug 75295] Re: Feisty freeze, kernel (?) tries to access DVD drive
I just wanted to say that I managed to get rid of lots of weird ata soft resets and other related problems (see bug 104581) thanks to Tom's instructions using two flash drives. I'm on a Samsung Q35 laptop with the notorious TSSTcorp TS-L632D DVD writer (used to be firmware_version SC02, now SC04, downloaded). I have no Windows partition as I completely nuked it a while back, I'm an Ubuntu purist ;-). The FreeDOS's USB drivers work perfectly on my laptop too so that I had no problem accessing once I had booted from the first flash drive. So I can vouch for Tom's instructions and would consider them as generic as long the reader has the same drive as above and no access to a Windows partition. For those folks still dependent on Windows the above instructions are probably easier. -- Feisty freeze, kernel (?) tries to access DVD drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75295 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 172526] Re: Two-sided printing problem in libgnomeprint
Can you open the printer setup tool (system-config-printer, gnome-cups- manager, CUPS web interface http://localhost:631/) and check the option settings? In a group Installable options there should be an option to tell whether you have a duplex unit installed. Set this to Yes or Installed and then all printing dialogs should allow you to print duplex. [Bug 172534] no way to allow bluetooth socket creation
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apparmor See bug 147800 for details, cupsys' apparmor profile causes bluez-cups to break because AppArmor does not allow the creation of a bluetooth socket: Nov 28 11:19:18 donald kernel: [ 9030.516116] audit(1196245158.605:22): type=1503 operation=socket_create family=bluetooth sock_type=seqpacket protocol=0 pid=16752 profile=/usr/sbin/cupsd However, there is no way to configure a profile to create it. There are no particular socket ACLs (at least not documented ones), and it still happens if I allow access to all files and all capabilities.
