[Bug 30659] Re: should detect ekiga (voip) activity as activity and not lock screen
(Actually, I think dimming the screen would be fine, but not turning it off or locking it.) Note that, with the current GPM, the screen does dim between when the session is idle and when the screen is blanked. Of course, this doesn't happen if the screensaver is inhibited because the session never becomes idle. That means that, because voice-only calls inhibit the screensaver, the screen will not dim. [Bug 180292] [linux-source] [CVE-2007-6063] Buffer overflow in the isdn_net_setcfg function in isdn_net.c, possible local vulnerability
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source Quoting CVE-2007-6063: Buffer overflow in the isdn_net_setcfg function in isdn_net.c in Linux kernel 2.6.23 allows local users to have an unknown impact via a crafted argument to the isdn_ioctl function. Although only reported for 2.6.23, this bug got fixed for Debian Etch's kernel, see DSA-1436-1 (http://www.debian.org/security/2007/dsa-1436). ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Visibility changed to: Public ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2007-6063 -- [linux-source] [CVE-2007-6063] Buffer overflow in the isdn_net_setcfg function in isdn_net.c, possible local vulnerability https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/180292 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 180291] Firefox crashed whilst browsing a website - this was repeated shortly after restarting the session.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox Shortly after starting Firefox and viewing a website (http://www.baa.co.uk/heathrow) the browser closed, and an error message showed. A second error message informed me that Rhythmbox Music Player had also closed, despite me not having knowingly opened it. On resuming the previous session in Firefox, the browser closed again after about 1 minute, with the same error message (I'm sorry but I didn't note down the full error details).. I was then asked to submit a bug report. I have not done this before (being quite new to Ubuntu) and expected to be given an opportunity to upload the report file. I have unfortunately not found such a facility, and therefore apologise if this report is useless without further details. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Firefox crashed whilst browsing a website - this was repeated shortly after restarting the session. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/180291 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 139045] Re: Slow suspend on various Toshiba laptops
I have a Tecra M3. When the machine is undocked your patches work flawlessly, however if the machine is sitting on the docking station it behaves in exactly the same way as the unpatched kernel. The screen blanks, the docking station power indicator switches off which seems to suggest something has happened but the power light stays on on the laptop and the fan switches to full blast. I have left it like this for 10-15mins many times but it never seems to enter suspend. [Bug 178697] Re: Please sync scim-bridge 0.4.14-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Since the lack of an upgrade path is pretty independent from doing the sync, I synced the new version now. I leave this bug open so that someone can add a transitional package. Public bug reported: When using MigrationAssistance to retrieve Windows XP's (btw, are other OS's going to be supported?) documents, it will automatically place them in ~/Documents, ~/Music, ~/Pictures and ~/Video's, even when the language was set to Dutch and the corresponding folders thus had to be ~/Documenten, ~/Muziek, ~/Afbeeldingen and ~/Video's. [Bug 59695] Re: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime
this is my ambitious attempt at tackling this issue. i created a blueprint at https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/handlingtooagressivepowermanagment that summaries the usfull information found in this bug report (and became impossible to extract because of the high noise ratio) and brainstorming possible solutions. i just want to clarify that i am not a Ubuntu developer and there is no guarantees that someone would actually even try to fix this bug. i think the key to solving this issue is to simply find out how is it that windows is not suffering from this issue. i know people think windows do not suffer from this issue because it does not write to the hard drive as often as Ubuntu but according to comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/59695/comments/308 that is not true and bringing Ubuntu to the same state as windows is a acceptable solution to most users. -- High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59695 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
