From: Cyril Breuil [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Sikon [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: smplayer package in Ubuntu In fact i don't have anymore time to contribute to ubuntu. So i would be happy if you take care of smplayer package in ubuntu. 2008/2/5, Sikon [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I have noticed that you haven't been active recently with smplayer updates. I have got a new upstream version of smplayer, 0.5.62, into Ubuntu. I've also become the Debian maintainer for smplayer, and uploaded version 0.6.0rc1 there. Since you don't seem to be involved with Ubuntu as actively anymore, would you mind if I adopt the smplayer package in Ubuntu and become its maintainer? Djihed, please look through my comment. Fine-grained locking over the messages is technically very hard at the moment. Re: [Bug 178286] Re: Suspend not working on Sony Vaio SZ650N
Suspend and hibernate work when using intel adapter (GM 965; stamina mode), but do not work (fail to resume) when using the nVidia adapter (speed mode; GeForce 8400M GS, both nv and nvidia drivers), so perhaps rather than closing this bug it could be modified to specify that there is still a problem with support for the nVidia card. [Bug 189183] [NEW] sshd hardcodes SSHD_PAM_SERVICE
Public bug reported: Line 99 of openssh-4.6p1/debian/rules: $(MAKE) -C build-deb -j 2 ASKPASS_PROGRAM='/usr/bin/ssh-askpass' CFLAGS='$(OPTFLAGS) $(PIE_CFLAGS) -g -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wuninitialized -Wsign-compare -Wno-pointer-sign -std=gnu99 -DLOGIN_PROGRAM=\/bin/login\ -DLOGIN_NO_ENDOPT -DSSHD_PAM_SERVICE=\ssh\ -DSSH_EXTRAVERSION=\ $(SSH_EXTRAVERSION)\' From auth-pam.h: #if !defined(SSHD_PAM_SERVICE) # define SSHD_PAM_SERVICE __progname #endif This macro is then used in the pam_start() call in auth-pam.c. The results of this is that there is no way to have two separate sshd processes with different PAM configurations. You can specify different sshd_config-files, sure, but they end up using the same PAM config file no matter what. The expected behaviour is that if you symlink /usr/sbin /sshd-opie to /usr/sbin/sshd and start it using the sshd-opie symlink, it should be using /etc/pam.d/sshd-opie instead of the default. It would be much better if the binary didn't hardcode this, or at least provided some way of overriding the PAM service name at run-time. I think this bug stems from Debian. I know it's not unusual for Debian packages to have eccentric limitations and modifications added, but I hope it can be fixed in Ubuntu anyway. [Bug 187549] [NEW] KNetworkManager with network-manager-vpnc - no configuration in gutsy
You have been subscribed to a public bug: pretty fresh install of gutsy, fully updated with all repos. I installed network-manager-vpnc so I can connect to the vpn at my office. After installation, KNetworkManager has a new menu item, VPN Connections (yay!) unfortunately, the only submenu item available is Disconnect VPN, and it is grayed out. I looked at some similar bugs, but none seemed to apply to this exact situation. Something that seemed to come up often was all sorts of 'nm-' commands. The only one I have is nm-tool, which only reports status information. Re: [Bug 182176] Re: Hardy Alpha 3 desktop windows won't move or resize or minimize
@Jerry, I see you installed Hardy from the CD. I have then a couple of questions. Do you have a separate /home partition? If so, what kind of eyecandy did you install under gutsy and feisty? I'm basically trying to find out whether your issues are related to a config file clash. Oh! and just for the record: what's your graphics card? I fear I've missed it. @wilbur If your macbook has an ATi card, I fear you're out of luck by now. The proprietary fglrx driver doesn't support AIGLX under xserver 1.4 (hardy's version) and the free drivers (either radeon or radeonhd) released still don't support 3D on these cards. If you have an X1600, though, you could compile radeon from CVS. jerrylamos escribió: System, Preferences, Apperance, Visual Effects, None fixed it. Re: [Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices
At some point it worked (in Edgy) and using the same hardware with Gusty/Hardy introduced the problem. So the question is, was the autosuspend introduced in Gusty what broke it or was it something else? No, it was before Gutsy. To me, it happened after some upgrade in Edgy. If it was the autosuspend, yes we have workaround but, how about getting USB 2.0 and autosuspend to work at the same time. If it was not the autosuspend, then we would like more debug done to see where's the conflict in the echi_hcd module and hopefully get it fixed. My motherboard has most probably USB 1 ports. When I had the problem in Edgy, I had to remove the ehci_hcd module to solve it. Now with Gutsy ehci_hcd is not loaded any more, and everything works. [Bug 58519] Re: Assertion Fails at Runtime
True. I hate to say it, but they were a rather miserable bunch to have to deal with. At least as far as those who were around in their irc channel back when I tried to explain it to them. Basically it went something like this, there is a problem, here is what is happening, here is a stack trace, steps to reproduce, and I've even done some debugging for you and know exactly what line it is raising the exception at. The response was something like, it works fine for everyone else, so it must be something you're doing wrong. There isn't any problem, because if there was one, we might have to do something about it. So I just left it at that and went about my business. -- Assertion Fails at Runtime https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/58519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 189195] [NEW] Middleclick (click on middle button) causes odd behaviour
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 Middleclick in Firefox 3.0 is left at the default, which is to paste. This means that a middleclick not on a button or a link (i.e., on some blank area) will cause whatever is in the clipboard to be opened as if it were a link. If the contents of the clipboard are not a URL, then a popup appears with The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded which is very odd to someone not expecting it. If the clipboard happens to contain something similar to a URL, it will be opened in a new tab, which is also potentially very confusing. [Bug 189193] Re: Installer crashed
I was dong an install in VirtualBox to a physical hard drive Host OS: WinXP (sp2+virus stuff) Guest OS: Kubuntu 7.10 This was running a pre-installed Kubuntu In WinXP I deleted a partition in the WinXP disk management tool to leave the partition from which I was currently running WinXP.
