Thanks Chuck, I had a chance this evening to test with the Hardy alpha 4
live CD and indeed, I no longer see the kernel oops. The kernel oops I
used to get is below.
So the workaround mentioned in the Debian bug report now works. Changing
my /etc/auto.smb as follows enables me to connect to my Ubu

upstream Nokia guy that created the package, has stated that it isn't
necessary for non-Maemo distributions, and I have changed hildon-fm-l10n
and maemo-af-desktop-l10n to provide the same functionality th

is used by some libhildon things, and a few things like hildon-desktop

I have had similar problems on the last two header updates. Rather than
the incorrect partitions, however, all (correct) occurrences of (hd2,0)
get replaced by (hd1,0). The Windows partition is not affected. My
(correct) menu.lst is now:

I've found out the cause of this problem. It's the "Disable all menu access
keys" option accessible from "Edit" > "Keyboard Shortcut". If this option
checked , the labels will be gone after the gnome-terminal restarted.
To reproduce this bug maybe you should test it by doing so.

and Fn+F6 and Fn+F7 work but all the other ones and the Web, Media
Player, Play/Pause, Stop, Next, and Previous keys do not work and do not

It's intentional that there's a way to escape to the "terse" boot:
prompt - if gfxboot doesn't support your graphics card or monitor for
some wacky reason then it's important to have an escape hatch.
Aside from that, I agree that the UI is clunky and should be improved.
