[Bug 246823] Re: New upstream release of gwyddion (2.10) available
Jan, First of all, thanks for you work on packaging Gwyddion for Debian. I don't think it should be you doing the actual sync. When Gwyddion was first released in Ubuntu Hardy, Ubuntu maintainer for the package did the actual sync from Debian unstable, so this should be the same for this new release. I don't know if the syncing of the repositories from Debian unstable is still open for Ubuntu intrepid. If it is not, Gwyddion 2.10 will be pushed for Ubuntu 9.04. Hopefully not. Anyway I post here the info from Debian: http://packages.debian.org/unstable/science/gwyddion I hope Ubuntu maintainer will be able to sync to 2.10 for Intrepid and possibly back-port it to Hardy. [Bug 149203] Re: If update-manager -d fails, you can't try again
As written earlier, I had a problem with upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10 using update-manager because of not enough free space. After that I could not get update-manager to give me the option to upgrade to 7.10. I have the following further information: I found that I could get update-manager (in feisty) to show the option to upgrade, after copying the correct meta-release file (obtained from changelogs.ubuntu.com) under .update-manager-core/ and /var/lib/update-manager/ (I had to be careful that the network proxy setting was correct -- setting network proxy for direct connection instead of the correct server ip address led to these files being replaced by html error messages). However, on clicking on the upgrade button, the upgrade fails, and update-manager hangs. If I had used update-manager -c from a terminal, the message is: Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/UpdateManager/UpdateManager.py, line 914, in on_button_dist_upgrade_clicked fetcher.run() File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/UpdateManager/Core/DistUpgradeFetcherCore.py, line 153, in run if not self.showReleaseNotes(): File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/UpdateManager/DistUpgradeFetcher.py, line 79, in showReleaseNotes release_notes = urllib2.urlopen(uri) File /usr/lib/python2.5/urllib2.py, line 121, in urlopen return _opener.open(url, data) File /usr/lib/python2.5/urllib2.py, line 366, in open protocol = req.get_type() File /usr/lib/python2.5/urllib2.py, line 241, in get_type raise ValueError, unknown url type: %s % self.__original ValueError: unknown url type: Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/bin/update-manager, line 91, in module app.main(options) File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/UpdateManager/UpdateManager.py, line 1017, in main gtk.main() KeyboardInterrupt -- If update-manager -d fails, you can't try again https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149203 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 248906] Re: brightness keys are not working though osd shows an adjustment
** Description changed: After checking some other bugs that are related with my problem i decided to open a new one because the solutions referred there didn't work for me and there may be some other issues that i am missing. The main problem is the nonworking of brightness function keys, fn+f4 and fn+f5. I am using Ubuntu Hardy with a Gnome desktop. It is a fresh - install and i have the doubling problem reported in a - href=https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/239706;#239706/a - and in a - href=https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/207473;#207473/a, - though the solutions didn't work for me. + install and i have the doubling problem reported in + https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/239706 and in + https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/207473, though the + solutions didn't work for me. After the installation i was seeing atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e01e keycode' to make it known. output at the dmesg. I tried ti fix it but it didn't help me set the brightness. I will add the step by step procedure of what i did at this report. + + After the fresh installation i was able to see osd when i press the + fn+f4 (brightness down) and fn+f5 (brightness up) keys. This pressing + weren't effecting the brightness of the backlight so when i check the + log messages i saw the setkeycodes message. After check'ng the acp'd log + message and investigating the video_brightnessup.sh script i check the + key-constants and see the values of KEY_BRIGHTNESSUP and + KEY_BRIGHTNESSDOWN. I added these values to /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh + script. I also created a .Xmodmap file under my home directory and via + xmodmap -pke and edited the keycodes (101 and 212) that i saw at xev + output and set them as XF86LaunchD and XF86LaunchE. After this edit, the + current acpid log and xev output are attached with this report. + + Now i don't see any setkeycodes messages at the dmesg but pressinf the hotkeys don'y adjust the brightness. + I checked the lshal -m output and see the doubling of key pressed but disabling video module didn't help me. After blacklisting the video module i was not able to use neither the Power Manager Birghtness Applet nor the hotkeys to set the brightness. + + Trying to set the brightness manually from + /proc/acpi/video/VGA0/DD03/brightness didn't make any effect also. + + It may be a hal bug or something else. Seems there is a problem with + gnome-power-manager and/or hal. I may give more information additon to + the below files if needed. -- brightness keys are not working though osd shows an adjustment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248906 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 247055] Re: problems with kernel 2.6.24.19 reporting as 2.6.24.3
I was able to reproduce this using the latest VirtualBox version 1.6.2 source downloaded directly from Sun. Note that the Ubuntu repo has a very old 1.5.6 I traced the VirtualBox makefile (line 138 of ./out/linux.x86/release/bin/src/Makefile) and it checks to make sure 2 values match: * uname -r * /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.24-19-generic/include/config/kernel.release The kernel.release file has the (erroneous?) value 2.6.24.3. I fixed it by: cd /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.24-19-generic/include/config/kernel.release cp -p kernel.release kernel.release.bak uname -r kernel.release Afterwards, VirtualBox compilation should proceed as normal. -- problems with kernel 2.6.24.19 reporting as 2.6.24.3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247055 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
