I think my original samba configuration was retained as I still share the

I have the same problem, again on a Dell XPS m1330.
The time taken for reconnection can vary greatly from almost instantly after a
wake-from-suspend, to several minutes.

This is more a usage question than a real bug, so I'm converting it.
The /dev/dvd symlink is created by udev. Which of your drives is set to
'dev/dvd/' seems rather random to me, so you might want to look into the
udev rules to find out more about this.
