We are past feature freeze so we should concentrate on specific bugfixing rather than version upgrades. 2.1rc11-2.1rc15 is mostly about new features afaict (or fixing regressions introduced by those new features), except the lladdr bug fixed in rc12 which is already included in our version. Very peculiar... I had the same problem, however the above fix did not fix it. [Bug 303458] Re: segfault in pam_smbpass.so
Came across this issue just last night and found the cause to be less than insidious. Seems that after I finished editing smb.conf, the daemon reloaded the new file automagically. This is when the trouble started. As it turns out, my new config had a typo and was specifying a directory that did not exist. I believe this is what was causing samba to go tango-uniform and thus causing pam to segfault. One boot into recovery mode and a restore to the default smb.conf later, and all is well again. I will be editing my smb.conf under a different name until it has passed testparm. I will report back should another fail occur. -- segfault in pam_smbpass.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 303458] Re: segfault in pam_smbpass.so
Correction, it wasn't a typo for the directory, it was a typo for the line. Here is the line at issue: path /data/apps Which is missing the '=' operator. And now I'm just muddying the water. Even with my corrected (and testparm approved) smb.conf and samba daemons stopped, I get the pam segfault because of pam_smbpass.so. [Bug 333711] [NEW] AppArmor profile for sbin.dhclient3 should handle connman
Public bug reported: Connection manager (connman) runs /sbin/dhclient using some specific actions and stores leases in different locations to NetworkManager. The new sbin.dhclient3 AppArmor profile prevents connman from acquiring an IP address and storing the lease, I include a patch to the profile which addresses that. I'm not sure whether AppArmor configurations can extend one another. If so, it may be better to extend the dhclient profiles (/sbin/dhclient3, /sbin/dhclient-script, /usr/lib/connman/scripts/dhclient-script) in a separate apparmor.d file added by the connman package. For the moment this patch just extends the profile added by the dhcp3-client package. ** Affects: connman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- AppArmor profile for sbin.dhclient3 should handle connman https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 315809] Re: [Jaunty] Sound card outputs start muted after recent updates to use pulseaudio
Confirmed on my HP Pavilion dv9830 laptop. Symbolic link in /etc/rcS.d/ is missing. Be sure to check inside /etc/init.d/alsa-utils for the correct filename to use for the link (the comments near the top of the file will give you instructions on how to remove the autosave/autoload features, so just kinda follow it in reverse). When I created a symlink in /etc/rcS.d/ , everything worked again. I don't have the technical knowledge or time to do all that either. An other option might be to demote elisa to universe. That might sound strange at first, but it makes it possible to have -ugly as recommends. That way users are provided with a much better experience and we have no differences with debian so it can be easily synced. [Bug 333177] [NEW] [Asus Eee PC 1000H] Hotkeys doesn't works
Public bug reported: Hotkeys on Asus Eee PC 1000H with Kubuntu 8.10 doesn't work (acpi_listen see all hotkey presses). [Bug 333175] [NEW] [jaunty] mouse doesn't work on live cd
Public bug reported: The cd is the i386 desktop cd from 21/02/09. I can boot up into it fine and everything works apart from the mouse. I see the pointer in the middle of the screen, it changes from the busy circle into a pointer, but it won't move whatever I do. This is on a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop. [Bug 248635] Re: acer_wmi is not used by default (on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1650G)
I have an Acer Aspire 5021 and did a HOWTO for Dapper Drake years ago for getting the wireless working with acer_acpi 0.3 and bcm43xx. I have been using this old laptop as a server running CentOS for the last few years and just reinstalled it with Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop 64-bit. I enabled the B43 proprietary driver after the fresh install, but the 'acer_acpi' bit isn't working. I used acer_acpi 0.3 at the time of dapper drake, so did some searching, found newer 0.11.2 acer_acpi, found that it is replaced with acer_wmi, and then found this bug, that acer_wmi should be working by default on Acer laptops. It doesn't. will try modprobing acer_wmi tonight. -- acer_wmi is not used by default (on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1650G) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248635 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 310840] Re: Irssi channels disappear on quitting and starting irssi again
I've checked the irssi config, and it seems every time I add a channel, the last channel in the row gets 'kicked off'. This only occurs when I add the channel in irssi itself, so I've switched to adding the channels in the config file for now.
