[Bug 292706] Re: package mysql-server-5.0 5.0.67-0ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso post-installation script devolvi? el c?digo de salida de error 1

2009-07-14 Thread Bazilio
Using Kubuntu 9.04
I solved this problem by deleting /var/lib/mysql/debian-*.flag
After that I installed mysql-server-5.0 without errors

[Bug 389909] Re: Change resolve order so Nautilus can browse local network when ISP uses DNS redirection

2009-07-14 Thread Thierry Carrez
IIUC Windows default behavior depends on whether the machine is joined
to a domain. In a domain it will preferably resolve using DNS
(theorically AD one), while outside a domain it will broadcast first.

[Bug 389909] Re: Change resolve order so Nautilus can browse local network when ISP uses DNS redirection

2009-07-14 Thread Etienne Goyer
That is what I would guessed too, and I think it would be a good
default behavior. I know some people have very strong opinion on this
issue. Should it be discussed at a Server team meeting, or even as a
session in the next UDS? That way, we could get opinion from all
stakeholders and formulate a coherent policy on the subject.

It would also be interesting to know what is the default behavior in
Samba 4.

[Bug 305264] Re: gnutls regression: failure in certificate chain validation

2009-07-14 Thread Andrew Daugherity
I ran into the same problem (the update to libgnutls13 2.0.4-1ubuntu2.5
broke LDAP auth, due to the certificate chain no longer validating).
The quick fix was to set TLS_REQCERT to allow in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf,
but that is just a temporary workaround.

Indeed, using gnutls-cli to connect to server:636 fails verification
with this version, whereas after rolling back to -ubuntu2.3 it succeeds.
'openssl s_client' is still happy. I discovered that this is because
both my CA cert and the server cert were using md5/rsa, which are no
longer supported by gnutls. Note the changelog entry - Deprecate
X.509 validation chains using MD5 and MD2 signatures; apparently by
deprecate they mean no longer support at all.

Apparently gnutls doesn't mind the self-signed CA cert being MD5, but it's not
happy with the server cert:
and...@shiny:~$ echo|gnutls-cli --print-cert --x509cafile isc-ca.crt -p 636
ldap.server | certtool -e
Certificate[0]: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College
Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ldap.server,email=supp...@foo.bar
Issued by: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ISC
CA,email=supp...@foo.bar
Verifying against certificate[1].
Verification output: Not verified, Insecure algorithm.

Certificate[1]: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ISC
CA,email=supp...@foo.bar
Issued by: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ISC
CA,email=supp...@foo.bar
Verification output: Verified.
[names/emails sanitized somewhat]

After generating a new server cert using sha1/rsa and plugging it into
slapd (but still using the same md5/rsa CA cert), gnutls is now happy,
and in turn, so is pam_ldap. I suppose the better solution would be to
create a new sha1 CA cert also, but that would require copying it to all
the clients, which is a lot more work.

Andy, I notice you have default_md=md5 in your openssl.cnf. You should
change this to sha1 or something else not considered broken, and
generate a new server cert, and that should solve your problem.

In summary, the recent gnutls update broke MD5 certs, but this was
intentional. It would've been nice to announce this more loudly though.
(To me, deprecate means discourage future use, not remove
support.)

[Bug 399459] [NEW] open-iscsi in hardy fails to install in pbuilder as a build-dependency

2009-07-14 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: open-iscsi

I'm trying to backport libvirt from Jaunty to Hardy.

The newer libvirt has a build dependency on open-iscsi. When installing
in the pbuilder, the open-iscsi fails to install because the init script
can't be started:

 Setting up open-iscsi (2.0.865-1ubuntu3.3) ...
  * iSCSI requires a mounted sysfs, not started.
invoke-rc.d: initscript open-iscsi, action start failed.
 dpkg: error processing open-iscsi (--configure):

This is due to the following lines in the init script:

 if [ ! -d /sys/class/ ]; then
log_failure_msg iSCSI requires a mounted sysfs, not started.
exit 1
 fi

This has been fixed in Jaunty by exiting 0 here (while continuing to
print the error message).

I request that this simple fix be added to the update in hardy-proposed.

[Bug 399130] [NEW] VMWare Workstation terminated on logout

2009-07-14 Thread Russell Robinson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope

VMWare Workstation 6.5.2 build-156735

Gnome 2.26.1

VMWare is set in Edit | Preferences to Run powered on virtual machines
in background after close.

However, upon logging out of Gnome, the vmware processes are killed and
the virtual machines are thereby terminated without further notice.

What should happen is that the virtual machines are continued in the
background. Or, at the very least, suspended.

This would be quite easy to implement if there was a way to catch the
logout process in Gnome with a script that does the above.

However, there does not seem to be such a concept in Gnome.

[Bug 399132] [NEW] HP DV6 notebook unusable with Linux due to fan noise

2009-07-14 Thread Russell Robinson
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 9.04 and Fedora 11 (and possibly every distribution), an HP
DV6-1160TX (and probably all DV6 models) runs the fan loudly 20% of the
time for no reason.

The problem does not happen if you run Windows Vista (comes preloaded
with the computer).

I've done extensive testing and investigation, which is documented here:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13718

At the very least, Ubuntu should flag this HP notebook model as NOT
COMPATIBLE with Linux.

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 352708] Re: [i915] (Needs KMS) dualscreen: some screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid

2009-07-14 Thread Andreas Schildbach
I am very sorry to say that this bug has recently cropped up with Karmic
and KMS as well. If I suspend with lid, after resume resolutions are
totally wrong and sometimes the displays are garbled. If I use suspend
from the shutdown menu, all goes well.

I suspect this is the same bug, because it's strongly dependant on using
the lid.

[Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates difficult to use

2009-07-14 Thread Scott Ritchie
Might I suggest this:

Create a ~/Templates folder by default (by placing it in /etc/skel), and
populate it with symbolic links to new template files located at
/usr/share/default-templates (this is a new directory, and files in
here do not show up as templates by default, unlike
/usr/share/templates).

This can be done entirely with a separate package (default-templates)
and shouldn't bother upstream. It will allow the user to remove a
template (by deleting the symbolic link), and allow us to update a
template (by updating the package).

The downside is that we can't add any new templates to an existing
user's folder when they upgrade, but that's also the situation today. I
don't see an easy way of allowing users to delete templates while also
shipping a default set, not without upstream code changes.

[Bug 386520] Re: Opening a file from nautilus opens the document in the background if the application is already running

I'm unable to reproduce this behavior.

Every time I open a document in OpenOffice/Evince , which has already
been opened and been minimized , the previously open Document is brought
up.[ OpenOffice3.0.1/Document Viewer 2.26.1]

Please answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Re: [Bug 396459] Re: auto-login settings not migrated

2009-07-14 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Dave,

Dave Stroud [2009-07-13 11:19 -]:
I used the login window utility from system/administration/login
window. This is not here anymore.

Indeed, there's a separate bug for that. Robert Ancell wants to look
into writing a replacement.

I have now gone into all of gdm conf. AutomaticLoginEnable=true
 AutomaticLogin=bigdavesr files
  # Timed
login, useful for kiosks. Log in a certain user after a certain amount
 # of time.
 TimedLoginEnable=true
 TimedLogin=bigdavesr
 TimedLoginDelay=10
They all look like above now. They still dont
 work. thanks

They need to be in custom.conf now (which is what above migration code
does).

[Bug 391418] Re: [i945] [Ubuntu-X-Swat] 945GM Unable to load desktop 2048x2048 with UXA

2009-07-14 Thread noisymime
This may become a problem for 9.10 as the fix in the upstream bug has
both a driver and kernel portion. Assuming karmic is planning to release
with 2.6.30, the fix that has been pushed to 2.6.31 will not apply and
the problem will remain.

Given that karmic only has UXA available, this will mean i945 users will
be unable to get a desktop larger than 2048x2048 on 9.10 at all.

[Bug 399150] [NEW] smartctl keeps disk spinnning

2009-07-14 Thread Sebastian Krysmanski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: smartmontools

I just found out that calling smartctl keeps my harddrive spinning
although this doesn't seem to be necessary. If my harddrive is in
standby...

  $ hdparm -C /dev/sdc
  /dev/sdc:
   drive state is: standby

... then I can use smartctl -A /dev/sdc to read all the SMART
information without spinning up the disk (checked with hdparm -C after
using smartctl).

However, if the disk is currently spinning (due to a read or write
access; hdparm say active/idle) calling smartctl prevents the disk
from spinning down.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 with smartmontools 5.38-2ubuntu2.

[Bug 399148] [NEW] USR1 should be passed through by xdvi debian wrapper script

2009-07-14 Thread Jesse
Public bug reported:

the /usr/bin/xdvi wrapper around xdvi.bin doesn't handle SIGUSR1. some
utilities uses (the real) xdvi's SIGUSR1 to instruct the reader to
refresh the content. And what often happens on Debian systems is that
they end up finding the wrapping perl process (e.g. latexmk). So the
xdvi wrapper script should pass through this signal so that it works
transparently

To reproduce:
# apt-get install latexmk texlive-bin-base
$ write a dummy .tex file
$ latexmk -pvc dummy.tex
$ change a dummy.tex a little, save
expected behavior: xdvi refreshes its content
what happens: it doesn't, coz USR1 is lost at the wrapper

Re: [Me-tv-development] [Bug 398948] Re: Timeout while reading while starting me-tv

Hi... firstly you have provided the right information! its that Me TV
Development doesn't use the bug tracking feature openly, so the bug
report that you have filed, was against the version of Me TV in Ubuntu
(ver 0.7.16-1) but your are reporting against version 0.9.6-0 this is
current development (stable) and not yet included into any official
Ubuntu release. So that's the reasoning for the bug changes... ;)

Re: [Me-tv-development] [Bug 398948] Re: Timeout while reading while starting me-tv

2009-07-14 Thread Scott Evans
Also the status of incomplete gives the bug a valid life of 60 days,
so that in the event that there is no further action against it the
status flag automatically changes to invalid.

[Bug 399155] [NEW] Non-Konqueror browser in KDE results in bouncing icons for both browsers

2009-07-14 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

kfmclient uses the Konqueror icon, so if you set Firefox as
default...or, well, Arora is Kubuntu's default now, when you click a
link, you'll get a bouncing Firefox/Arora icon, then after a couple
seconds it'll switch to a Konqueror icon leaving users like me wondering
which browser will open after all.

** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Low
 Assignee: Mackenzie Morgan (maco.m)
 Status: New
