[Bug 389909] Re: Change resolve order so Nautilus can browse local network when ISP uses DNS redirection
That is what I would guessed too, and I think it would be a good default behavior. I know some people have very strong opinion on this issue. Should it be discussed at a Server team meeting, or even as a session in the next UDS? That way, we could get opinion from all stakeholders and formulate a coherent policy on the subject. [Bug 305264] Re: gnutls regression: failure in certificate chain validation
I ran into the same problem (the update to libgnutls13 2.0.4-1ubuntu2.5 broke LDAP auth, due to the certificate chain no longer validating). The quick fix was to set TLS_REQCERT to allow in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf, but that is just a temporary workaround. Indeed, using gnutls-cli to connect to server:636 fails verification with this version, whereas after rolling back to -ubuntu2.3 it succeeds. 'openssl s_client' is still happy. I discovered that this is because both my CA cert and the server cert were using md5/rsa, which are no longer supported by gnutls. Note the changelog entry - Deprecate X.509 validation chains using MD5 and MD2 signatures; apparently by deprecate they mean no longer support at all. Apparently gnutls doesn't mind the self-signed CA cert being MD5, but it's not happy with the server cert: and...@shiny:~$ echo|gnutls-cli --print-cert --x509cafile isc-ca.crt -p 636 ldap.server | certtool -e Certificate[0]: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ldap.server,email=supp...@foo.bar Issued by: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ISC CA,email=supp...@foo.bar Verifying against certificate[1]. Verification output: Not verified, Insecure algorithm. Certificate[1]: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ISC CA,email=supp...@foo.bar Issued by: C=US,ST=Texas,L=College Station,O=TAMU,OU=VPR,CN=ISC CA,email=supp...@foo.bar Verification output: Verified. [names/emails sanitized somewhat] After generating a new server cert using sha1/rsa and plugging it into slapd (but still using the same md5/rsa CA cert), gnutls is now happy, and in turn, so is pam_ldap. I suppose the better solution would be to create a new sha1 CA cert also, but that would require copying it to all the clients, which is a lot more work. Andy, I notice you have default_md=md5 in your openssl.cnf. You should change this to sha1 or something else not considered broken, and generate a new server cert, and that should solve your problem. In summary, the recent gnutls update broke MD5 certs, but this was intentional. It would've been nice to announce this more loudly though. [Bug 352708] Re: [i915] (Needs KMS) dualscreen: some screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid
I am very sorry to say that this bug has recently cropped up with Karmic and KMS as well. If I suspend with lid, after resume resolutions are totally wrong and sometimes the displays are garbled. If I use suspend from the shutdown menu, all goes well. I suspect this is the same bug, because it's strongly dependant on using the lid. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Confirmed -- [i915] (Needs KMS) dualscreen: some screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352708 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates difficult to use
Might I suggest this: Create a ~/Templates folder by default (by placing it in /etc/skel), and populate it with symbolic links to new template files located at /usr/share/default-templates (this is a new directory, and files in here do not show up as templates by default, unlike /usr/share/templates). This can be done entirely with a separate package (default-templates) and shouldn't bother upstream. It will allow the user to remove a template (by deleting the symbolic link), and allow us to update a template (by updating the package). The downside is that we can't add any new templates to an existing user's folder when they upgrade, but that's also the situation today. I don't see an easy way of allowing users to delete templates while also shipping a default set, not without upstream code changes. -- Create Document Templates difficult to use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 399150] [NEW] smartctl keeps disk spinnning
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: smartmontools I just found out that calling smartctl keeps my harddrive spinning although this doesn't seem to be necessary. If my harddrive is in standby... $ hdparm -C /dev/sdc /dev/sdc: drive state is: standby ... then I can use smartctl -A /dev/sdc to read all the SMART information without spinning up the disk (checked with hdparm -C after using smartctl). However, if the disk is currently spinning (due to a read or write access; hdparm say active/idle) calling smartctl prevents the disk from spinning down. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 with smartmontools 5.38-2ubuntu2. ** Affects: smartmontools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- smartctl keeps disk spinnning https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 399148] [NEW] USR1 should be passed through by xdvi debian wrapper script
Public bug reported: the /usr/bin/xdvi wrapper around xdvi.bin doesn't handle SIGUSR1. some utilities uses (the real) xdvi's SIGUSR1 to instruct the reader to refresh the content. And what often happens on Debian systems is that they end up finding the wrapping perl process (e.g. latexmk). So the xdvi wrapper script should pass through this signal so that it works transparently To reproduce: # apt-get install latexmk texlive-bin-base $ write a dummy .tex file $ latexmk -pvc dummy.tex $ change a dummy.tex a little, save expected behavior: xdvi refreshes its content what happens: it doesn't, coz USR1 is lost at the wrapper ** Affects: texlive-bin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- USR1 should be passed through by xdvi debian wrapper script https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Me-tv-development] [Bug 398948] Re: Timeout while reading while starting me-tv
Hi... firstly you have provided the right information! its that Me TV Development doesn't use the bug tracking feature openly, so the bug report that you have filed, was against the version of Me TV in Ubuntu (ver 0.7.16-1) but your are reporting against version 0.9.6-0 this is current development (stable) and not yet included into any official Ubuntu release. So that's the reasoning for the bug changes... ;) On Tue, 2009-07-14 at 05:44 +, Bernd Schlapsi wrote: @Scott Evans: Why do you set status Incomplete and Invalid? Which information do you miss?
