On Karmic i386 (up to date as of 10/25/09) with a Foxconn Atom barebones. After logging in to gnome, I have a lockup within 5 seconds of a compiz effect, 3d effect (screensaver or other 3d app) appearing on the screen. Removing compiz from the system and disabling 3d screensavers avoids the lockup.
