[Bug 520774] Re: Node not added to CLC even though registration is successful
Registration does two things: sync keys from CC to NC's /var/lib/eucalyptus/keys/ and add the node IP to the CC /var/lib/eucalyptus/nodes.list. Could you check what completed successfully on the failing node, if any ? If both appear to have completed successfully, then something prevents the CC to see the latest IP. If one (or all) of those appear to have failed, then at the very minimum, there is a bug in euca_conf --register-nodes (returned 0 while registration was not complete). ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Node not added to CLC even though registration is successful https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520774 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 520872] [NEW] dbconfig-common: mysqldump must dump routines during upgrade, or risk data loss
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dbconfig-common If an upgrade script alters or deletes a routine (FUNCTION/PROCEDURE) during upgrade, and the current or subsequent upgrade fails, the user is unable to recover routines using the created database backups, so the affected routine(s) may be permanently lost/damaged, and the upgrade permanently wedged. This is severe, and the way to recover is for the user to have intricate knowledge of the package, and be able to extract the affected procedure from previous install/update scripts if available. This should obviously be reported upstream, but I'm not sure what the protocol is for reporting to Debian from derivative distributions. I'm afraid I have to agree with Andy Rogers here. My experience is in using Ubuntu right since 6.06, and using Ubuntu with a NAS device since 7.04. I learned early that the NOUNIX option was useful, as this allows user/group permissions to be set on the local mount point. But the 'noserverino' option was never, ever needed. I always used the same fstab entry all the way from 7.04 from 9.04. For the record, my fstab had always been : //server/mnt /mnt/mountpoint cifs nounix,user=username,password=password,uid=uid,gid=gid,file_mode=0770,dir_mode=0770 0 0 If this is a kernel bug then I understand Ubuntu may not have direct control over this, but I guess my feedback is that it's a very nasty issue that cropped up by surprise, and it took me several weeks of google and forum searching to find the answer. For a new user, or a less experienced user, this may be a showstopper. I will accept whatever outcome is decided, I thought I'd just post my feedback in support of Andy's comments. [Bug 521085] [NEW] Samba 3.4.0 denies access to Roaming Profiles for XP Clients
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba Source Package: samba_2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4 Ubuntu Release: 9.10 (Karmic 64-bit AMD Server) This is basically the same problem as reported in Bug #397699; however the problem persists in Karmic (9.10) and has not been fixed, as far as I can tell. Using an smb.conf file which worked perfectly for (Debian) samba_3.0.2-2, one gets something similar to the following error message when trying to login using a roaming profile on a Windows XP machine: Windows did not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Windows did not load your profile because a server copy of the profile folder already exists that does not have the correct security. Either the current user or the Administrator's group must be the owner of the folder. Contact your network administrator. Deleting the profile and starting with a clean slate allows the user to login and logout again, however the message above is repeated upon a subsequent attempt to login. I tried every suggestion I could find to fix this, including such ill- advised steps as chmod'ing the permissions on the profile to 1777. My original profile share configuration in smb.conf looked like this: [profile] create mode = 0600 directory mode = 0700 path = /home/%U/profile read only = no profile acls = yes browseable = yes One suggestion involved changing the create and directory mode masks as follows: [profile] force create mode = 0777 force directory mode = 0777 path = /home/%U/profile read only = no profile acls = yes browseable = yes This did not solve the problem. As far as I can tell, the bug reported for Jaunty samba 3.3.2 has not been fixed for Karmic samba 3.4.0. Given the importance of Samba in many linux server environments, the fact that this was not tested more thoroughly before Karmic was released is frankly shocking and disappointing. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Samba 3.4.0 denies access to Roaming Profiles for XP Clients https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/521085 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 427612] Re: does not pass pressed caps lock to client
The sdl patch was correctly submitted as +SDL_UseLockKeys = getenv (SDL_DISABLE_LOCK_KEYS) == NULL; ... +use_lock_keys = SDL_UseLockKeys; ... +if (!use_lock_keys) +break; (i.e. by default do not change anything) but the maintainer apparently morphed it into +SDL_UseLockKeys = getenv(SDL_DISABLE_LOCK_KEYS); ... + use_lock_keys = ( SDL_UseLockKeys *SDL_UseLockKeys ); ... + if ( ! use_lock_keys ) + break; which changed the meaning of SDL_DISABLE_LOCK_KEYS and, at the same time, the default. A better patch to qemu would be to stick putenv (SDL_DISABLE_LOCK_KEYS, howlame); before SDL_Init. Also totally inacceptable by upstream, but at least it doesn't break Debian/Ubuntu qemu if the wrong 205_lock_keys.patch is removed from libsdl. -- does not pass pressed caps lock to client https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427612 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Node not added to CLC even though registration is successful https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520774 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 520840] [NEW] xfce4-settings shouldn't recommend xfce4-volumed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfce4-settings Previously, bug 386589 was opened to have xfce4-volumed replace aumix in the xfce4-settings recommends. It's come to our attention that xfce4-volumed isn't always an attractive solution to be using on Mythbuntu boxes because the OSD shows up ANYTIME the volume is modified rather than only when hotkeys are pressed. Re: [Bug 520629] Re: rhythmbox crashes after loading a radio station
Nigel, Thanks for your reply. It is a little more complicated than that. Rhythmbox crashes after changing a radio-stream. Not always after the first change, but usually within a change or two..It gives than two dialog boxes on top of each other. One tells me It cannot START the music pipeline and on top of that a dialog-box (or the other way around,I don't remember) that it cannot STOP the music pipeline. After that nothing works. It won't play any music. No flac-files or MP3-files on the harddisk, no podcasts that are already downloaded and no musicstream or radio as mentioned. The only way to make it running again is to completely close down the application (not neccesary to close down the laptop). With the closing of Rhythmbox an empty dialogbox appears. After closing that and starting Rhythmbox again, it will run fine .till I try to change a radio-station. I now am really considering to run an older distro from Ubuntu (not 9.01, but the previous one). Just to make things running again. Regards, Peter van der Maas 2010/2/12 Nigel Babu nigelb...@gmail.com Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Do you mean to say that the problem happens when to pause/stop a stream and try to play again? ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- rhythmbox crashes after loading a radio station https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520629 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. [Bug 520715] Re: building ruby1.8 with pthread support causes puppet hangs
OK, let's try to summarize... Facts, on --enable-pthread vs --disable-pthread: - There's a noticeable performance gain with --disable-pthread, at least with some benchmarks. - Consequences of switching to --disable-pthread are unclear. Linking a non-pthread ruby with a pthread tk doesn't work (so that breaks Ruby/Tk), and other libs might (are likely?) to break as well. - Ruby has been built with --enable-pthread for ages on Debian and Ubuntu (at least since Dapper). - You claim that Red Hat doesn't use --enable-pthread, but you are wrong according to http://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/F-12/ruby/ruby.spec?r1=1.74r2=1.75; - Building with --disable-pthread is just a work-around for this issue. And since we don't know what the real issue is yet, it might just hide the issue a bit deeper. Given the above, it is not a viable solution to build with --disable- pthread. On the issue itself: you apparently have a test case, since you were able to pinpoint a specific SVN commit? Could you make it public? -- building ruby1.8 with pthread support causes puppet hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520715 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
