[Bug 499940] Re: [lucid regression] does not resume from hibernation, restarts fresh
Me too... but it's a recent regression I normally always hibernate my system. This was working well before and after I upgraded from Karmic to lucid RC (except for a cursor glitch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- ati/+bug/564423 which is presumably unrelated). Then suddenly, one week ago my system suddenly stopped resuming from hibernate, always starting fresh (and with network allways disabled after an attempt to hibernate). >From the Synaptic history, I suspect it could be related to the initramfs-tools updated from 0.92bubuntu77 to 0.92bubuntu78, or an accompanying change around that time. Like above, I'm willing to help debugging the resume process. [Bug 559658] Re: Music residing on GVFS mounted SMB shares won't be imported
This may be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10/+bug/273294. Regardless, I have found why it seems to be occurring. It seems that entries on an SMB share do not necessarily have the G_FILE_ATTRIBUTE_ACCESS_CAN_READ attribute, therefore the check in _should_process() fails for these entries. The result of this is that no directories are recursed into, and no files are imported, with no feedback to the user that this has occurred. My NAS Samba version: MediaServer> /usr/syno/sbin/smbd --version Version 3.0.20b This appears to be fixed upstream by commit a57a51913b1057c85603bf3ada52f6d76582d139 in the Rhythmbox GIT repository (patch attached), however applying that patch to the Ubuntu Rhythmbox exposes some other problems which may be because the patch modifies assumptions made by other code. E.g. Now it enumerates the directories on the NAS, but I get "not mounted" errors later halfway through the process, followed by a segfault. ** Patch added: "rhythmbox-ignore-missing-processing-attributes.diff" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48042490/rhythmbox-ignore-missing-processing-attributes.diff -- Music residing on GVFS mounted SMB shares won't be imported https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559658 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 577305] Re: [SRU] Missing dependency on ed causes texconfig to fail silently in texlive-binaries
** Description changed: texlive-binaries lacks a dependency on ed that was previously present in texlive-base-bin. Because texconfig uses ed for, well, editing files, this causes texconfig to...no longer edit files, which causes it to silently do nothing, but without returning a non-0 error code. IMPACT: Attempting to use texconfig on systems without ed installed causes it to do nothing without failing DEVELOPMENT: This bug still has not been addressed in the development branch, but I've filed a bug with Debian to get the dependency added which will hopefully get synced - PATCH: Attached in http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48041742/texlive- - bin_2005-5ubuntu0.2.debdiff + PATCH: Attached in http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48042338/texlive- + bin_2009-5ubuntu0.1_lp577305.debdiff INSTRUCTIONS: Create a bare-bones chroot without ed installed. Install texlive-binaries. Run `texconfig-sys paper letter`. Install ed. Run `texconfig-sys paper letter` again. Observe that texconfig now gives several lines of output of changed configuration files. [Bug 573404] Re: unable to download addons - example:adblock+
After doing some searching, I found that this issue has been reported upstream: mozilla 543420. The upstream bug was filed against Windows, which suggests that this is not an Ubuntu-only issue. The upstream report also pointed to the support page I provided earlier: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons which did not seem to resolve the issue for anyone. However, on that support page is an area describing how to make sure software installation isn't disabled. Just to be safe, could someone follow the directions on that support page and make sure their system hasn't disabled the installation for some reason? I highly doubt this is the case since nobody seems to be able to even download the addons, but it's another thing to rule out. I will discuss this with some of the developers to see if this report should be linked to the upstream report and if there is any extra information that we will need. -- unable to download addons - example:adblock+ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573404 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 575602] Re: Connecting with BBC Radio 4 unavailable
Draycen As I compose this reply as usual I am listening to BBC Radio 4 and today everything worked perfectly by clicking on the link on the BBC Home page. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_radio_four is working as expected. Your suggestion of pre-checking the URL is not available to me. When I use the BBC Home page (bbc.co.uk) I have to click on the listen live radio connection before the URL displays. It then either works or displays the error. I do not know enough about FF but on the basis that I can access all the other programme links via the BBC Home page 100% of the time the problem is with the browser. As I have stated before I can immediately open Opera and listen to Radio 4 perfectly. The fact that the FF response shows that the programme is not available while Opera is delivering the content using exactly the same method I feel points to FF. Again the intermittent access in FF leads me to consider that there is something amiss with the browser. I will rattle the BBC cage to see what reaction I get from there but would not be surprised if they blame FF. Again thanks for your kind assistance Ian > - Original Message - > From: Draycen DeCator > To: scunne...@operamail.com > Subject: [Bug 575602] Re: Connecting with BBC Radio 4 unavailable > Date: Sat, 08 May 2010 05:48:31 - > > > If the issue is with the webpage bringing you to the wrong URL, then it > may be an issue with the site. [Bug 577305] [NEW] Missing dependency on ed causes texconfig to fail silently in texlive-binaries
Public bug reported: texlive-binaries lacks a dependency on ed that was previously present in texlive-base-bin. Because texconfig uses ed for, well, editing files, this causes texconfig to...no longer edit files, which causes it to silently do nothing, but without returning a non-0 error code. (Note that ed is depended on by ubuntu-standard, so the impact of this bug is comparatively slim, but it does affect things like build chroots) ** Affects: texlive-bin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Affects: texlive-bin (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #580732 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=580732 ** Also affects: texlive-bin (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=580732 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- Missing dependency on ed causes texconfig to fail silently in texlive-binaries https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577305 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 575465] Re: unable to use mouse buttons to trigger events in mangler
The way Mangler detects mouse button presses is by polling the state of the mouse. With most mouses, polling the master pointer will return the state of the slave device. This problem seems to be limited to Logitech wireless mice. Basically we're doing this: dev = XOpenDevice(GDK_WINDOW_XDISPLAY(rootwin), xdev[ctr].id); xds = (XDeviceState *)XQueryDeviceState(GDK_WINDOW_XDISPLAY(rootwin), dev); xbs = (XButtonState*) xds->data; state = state << bit; if ((xbs->buttons[byte] & state) >> bit) { // byte and bit are the mouse button flags // button is pressed } I have tried other wireless mouse devices at my disposal and they seem to work fine. [Bug 577297] [NEW] same icon whether connected or not
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager I'm using network-manager with DSL. My DSL connection is rather unreliable, so it disconnects or refuses to connect relatively often. A major feature of network-manager for me is that it attempts to reconnect automatically, another one is that it displays me whether the connection works right now thanks to its icon. that second feature stopped working in 10.04. Now the icon of network- manager is the same whether i'm in fact online or not. i do get a notification that the connection was lost, so network-manager knows that i'm now offline, but the icon stays the same. i don't know if it's a problem of the icon set (Humanity) or of network- manager. i do have besides the DSL connection also a second network card for the local area connection. that second connection is always working. maybe the network-manager icon is showing me the status of that second connection, but if that is the case, it really makes no sense, it should show me the status of the connection bridging me to internet. [Bug 516249] Re: Please merge hdparm 9.27-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
This bug was fixed in the package hdparm - 9.27-2ubuntu1 --- hdparm (9.27-2ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #516249); remaining changes: + debian/control: - Do not depend on lsb-base (we no longer use init script) - Add Homepage - Add Breaks on old udev - Bump debhelper depends for dh_installudev changes - Recommend powermgmt-base, so we can use on_ac_power to detect if we're on battery. - declare a Breaks: on pm-utils (<< 1.2.5-2ubuntu8), due to the change of the hdparm-functions API. - Replace pm-utils versions which shipped that script. + debian/hdparm.install: - Use hpdarm.udev instead of .rules - move hdparm-functions to /lib/hdparm. + debian/hpdarm.udev: - refactor to use the above functions instead of embedding a parser. + debian/hpdarm.dirs: - Drop unused /etc/udev/rules.d, add lib/udev for our udev-script + debian/rules, debian/hdparm.udev-script: - Install udev-script, drop init file stuff - Pass --priority=85 to dh_installudev + debian/hdparm.postinst: The transitional code to create /etc/udev/rules.d/z60_hdparm.rules also got wrongly executed on new installs, leaving a broken symlink behind. However, we do not need this in the first place, so just throw away the code completely. + debian/hdparm.preinst: Remove broken symlink on upgrade. + Add a new option to hdparm.conf, apm_battery, which is used in place of apm when we detect that we're on battery power. + debian/hdparm.udev-script, debian/hdparm.init: - only use the 'apm' setting when we're not on battery; when we are on battery, apply the separate 'apm_battery' setting. - Don't call hdparm -f for every drive; no clear rationale was ever given for doing this, and doing so slows down hard drive access at boot time. - also don't call sync... + debian/hdparm-functions: - break out a barebones parser for /etc/hdparm.conf and install it to /usr/lib/pm-utils, for use in /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/95hdparm-apm. - refactor so that it can be used by the udev script as well - drop handling of "command_line" here - we shouldn't be running this for every hard drive and every power event, this should be supported only by an init script (if at all) - Don't apply default APM policy to Firewire or USB devices when running from udev (LP: #515023, #548513). - Fetch ID_PATH from 'udevadm info' if it isn't already set in the environment (LP: #567182). - Factor Firewire/USB check out into a new hdparm_try_apm function. + Add debian/95hdparm-apm: - pm-utils script to adjust hard drive APM settings after resuming. This was previously shipped in pm-utils, but is more appropriate here (see /usr/share/doc/pm-utils/README.distributions). - Skip Firewire and USB devices. hdparm (9.27-2) unstable; urgency=low * Stop unconditionally stripping hdparm during build (closes: #568774) hdparm (9.27-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream version -- Benjamin DrungFri, 07 May 2010 11:39:54 +0200 ** Changed in: hdparm (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- Please merge hdparm 9.27-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/516249 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
