[Bug 747084] [NEW] announces cc and sc to wrong network
Public bug reported: I installed eucalyptus clc and walrus on a host with public network and then cc and sc on a host with both public and private network. The installation asked wether I want to use eth1 as private network to connect to the nc's and I answerd yes. But now cc and nc get published via avahi with their public IP address and not with the private IP address. The consequense is that the node controller installed on the private network will try to connect the cc and sc with the wrong IP and will fail. The problem is, that /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus-ipaddr.conf tries to find out the IP address by checking the default route. But in this setup the default route is via the public interface. It should take the value of VNET_PRIVINTERFACE in /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus.conf to find out the correct interface and ip address. Re: [Bug 747068] [NEW] /tmp = EXT3, the VM images gives EXT4-fs error
((Ok, this is the first time every I file a bug, so give me also feedback when I report wrong..)) Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. First of all, I want to build a system for production in wich I can build (very) fast new VM's. I installed Ubuntu Server 10.04.2 64Bit as host OS with the following partitions: /Boot [Prim] 1GB (EXT4) / [Prim] 25GB (EXT4) swap [Prim] 25GB (swap) ---extended--- /tmp [Logical] 25GB (EXT4) /var/log [Logical] 10GB (EXT4) lvm [Logical] 1,5TB (lvm) When I use VMBuilder and build to a RAW logica volume (lvm), it takes more than 12 minutes! I'd recommend building a single pristine image (where time to build doesn't matter), and snapshot or copy that when you need a new image and make the few changes you need to. Maybe that was your plan all along, but since you mention the time it took to make the first image, I wasn't sure. Then I tried to change the /tmp partition (of the HOST) to EXT3 and it did take less than 4 minutes Interesting. Are you using a local archive mirror? It's possible that if you switch back to ext4 now it'll go much faster. The only problem now is that the VM gives the following error on startup: EXT4-fs error (device sda1): ext4_mb_generate_buddy: EXT4-fs group 2: 3431 blocks in bitmap, 3597 in gd Any ideas? Is sda1 your tmpfs? If so, edit your fstab to mark it as ext3. Maybe first any ideas for a workaround? Actually long-term for most image building we recommend switching to live-build. If you try that, and your host has enough memory (more than 4G), then building out of a tmpfs can make for very fast, 2-4 minute, image builds. [Bug 634338] Re: /etc/default/squid default contents are misleading and need to match usage by /etc/init/squid.conf
Ok, I must have been mistaken when I marked this bug as Triaged. In looking at the squid upstart job, it uses the contents of /etc/default/squid properly, including SQUID_MAXFD. Also, going forward, the proper way to add commandline args to squid will be to edit /etc/init/squid.conf, since upstart jobs are (presumably) much easier to merge changes into than init.d scripts. [Bug 746497] Re: libvirt installs firewall rules on package upgrades
Looking at http://libvirt.org/formatnetwork.html#examplesRoute, I suspect this is viewed as a feature, since, if you did have some existing firewall rules, this would punch the needed holes through that to let the VMs work as expected. Agreed it wouldn't hurt to make that more configurable. However that would require a patch to be developed upstream. [Bug 746497] Re: libvirt installs firewall rules on package upgrades
Thanks again for opening this bug. After talking to upstream (specifically thanks to laine on #virt :), the firewall rules are a feature of the libvirt networks. To do what you want, you should create the bridge yourself (i.e. using /etc/network/interfaces), and then specify that the vm's attach to that. So you would have no libvirt networks at all. The VM xml to do that would look like: interface type='bridge' source bridge='br0'/ mac address='00:16:3e:1a:b3:4a'/ /interface ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/746497 Title: libvirt installs firewall rules on package upgrades -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Kern, does this mean that there is an explicit fix in the code of 5.2.0 that will make this problem go away on Qt 4.6.2 ? While I do think we should put 5.2.0 in backports when it arrives, if the fix is simple it might be worth patching 5.0.1 so it works in lucid. [Bug 746826] Re: [i915gm] GPU lockup ESR: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x7d8e0001
These gpu lockup bugs typically involve your computer freezing (except sometimes the mouse cursor moves), with a blank screen or the screen no longer painting or responding to clicks. Only way to recover is to power cycle your computer. Do you ever notice problems such as that? From the log message it appears you did experience that at one time. [Bug 745308] Re: [arrandale] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x05000000)
I think this lockup bug was likely due to the older mesa that was present in ia32-libs. Version 20090808ubuntu11 was just recently added to natty a day ago; it's possible at the time your system locked up that you had the older version of ia32-libs with the broken mesa. Have you had any system lockups since you upgraded to this version of ia32-libs? If not, then please see if you can reproduce the lockup again with this ia32-libs, and give it a few days to recur. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745308 Title: [arrandale] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x0001 IPEHR: 0x0500) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 401823] Re: Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead
I am using 3.6.13 version of Firefox along with Adobe Flash player version 10.0 in Ubuntu 10.04. I am getting this error. (unknown:1716): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead I tried upgrading my Firefox version to 3.7 once but I found it was not at all a stable version and crashed multiple times. so now I decided to use this version which is performing well except above warnings. someone above has suggested to use latest Macromedia flash player. http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplatformruntimes/flashplayer10-3/flashplayer10-3_b1_lin_030811.tar.gz I downloaded this file. It is a tar file. I extracted it. Inside it, there is a file like *.so and one folder. kindly let me know how to install that. I am having multiple users in Linux. so I would want to install it in such a way that all the other users also can use the same flash player. kindly let me know the steps. if .deb kind of file exists for this flash player, then kindly give me the link. Installing that is much easier and safer. [Bug 747002] [NEW] bcmwl fails to blacklist brcm80211 so is never used
Public bug reported: In Additional Drivers, install Broadcom STA wireless driver. This installs the wl kernel module. However in natty beta 1 I notice the wl module is not being used at all in network manager Connection Information. Instead it is using module brcm80211. Hi Andrew and thanks for reporting this bug. I have some additional questions: 1) You indicated that recording worked correctly when you filed the bug. Is this a problem with a particular program only - does recording work with other programs? 2) How much is cut off? Is it always the last second regardless of recording length, or always say 50% of the recording, or...? ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/743266 Title: Recording with internal mic gets cut off -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 746981] Re: sssd fails to find memberof.so
Confirmed. The issue here is that the ldb module interface has changed between libldb0 and libldb1, and the memberof.so module built by sssd is still using the old API - so libldb can't do anything with it. There are new upstream versions out, that probably add support for the new libldb. Fabrice, you did the upload of sssd for the libldb transition - are you interested in following through on this for natty? ** Changed in: sssd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: sssd (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: sssd (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Fabrice Coutadeur (fabricesp) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/746981 Title: sssd fails to find memberof.so -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 747009] Re: pcmanfm crashes when navigating to or through a symbolic link with a nonexistent target
** Visibility changed to: Public ** Description changed: Binary package hint: pcmanfm [Apport's automatically generated name for this bug report was: pcmanfm assert failure: *** glibc detected *** pcmanfm: free(): invalid pointer: 0x017977d1 ***] On a Maverick amd64 system with pcmanfm 0.9.7-1ubuntu1 and libfm0/libfm- gtk0 0.1.12-1ubuntu2, crashes occur when attempting to navigate to a directory on unmounted volumes, using a path that is rooted in a mounted volume and branches into the unmounted volume via a symbolic link. More generally, pcmanfm appears to crash when attempting to navigate to a symbolic link with a nonexistent target, and when attempting to navigate through such a link (to a subdirectory of the nonexistent target). Apport did not come up for any crashes but the first, but the behaviour of some of the subsequent crashes was identical to that of the original crash and the behaviour of all of them was mostly the same, and furthermore, checking the PID of pcmanfm revealed that the PID was different after each event in which pcmanfm malfunctioned and the pcmanfm window closed. (This all occurred in a Lubuntu Desktop Session, so generally speaking when a pcmanfm window closes, it does not actually quit the pcmanfm process.) The first crash I experienced (from which the attached stack trace derives) occurred when clicking a bookmark called Complete targeted at /home/ek/Torrents/Complete. The paths /home and /home/ek are on /dev/sda7, which is an ext4 volume (and the volume in which the Ubuntu system is installed--I do not have a separate partition for /home). However, /home/ek/Torrents is a symbolic link to /media/Wingardium/Users/ek/Torrents, and /media/Wingardium is the mount point used by udisks to mount /dev/sda3, which is an NTFS volume. The volume /dev/sda3 was not mounted at the time. I repeated my attempt to navigate to it by clicking on the Complete bookmark, and the crash was repeated. Then I mounted the volume, clicked on the Complete bookmark, and the crash no longer occurred. Then I unmounted the volume and tried again, and the crash occurred again, as expected. Subsequently (also while the volume containing the symbolic link's target directory was unmounted), I tried typing in the path /home/ek/Torrents and pressing enter. This resulted in what appeared to be the same immediate crash. I did this a few more times--some of the time, before the crash, I was able to see a message box with Error as its title and The specified directory is not valid as its message, but the crash always occurred before I had the chance to click the OK button. Then (with that volume still unmounted), I decided to try typing in the path /home/ek/Torrents/Complete, to see if that also produced a crash. I had expected that when I entered that path and pressed enter, that it would produce a crash more like the one that had occurred when I clicked the Complete bookmark to /home/ek/Torrents/Complete (i.e., that I would not see an error message at all before the crash). Instead, I was unable to finish typing that path--once I typed the slash before Complete, pcmanfm crashed immediately. My guess, in hindsight, is that this happened because pcmanfm attempted to look inside /home/ek/Torrents/Complete in order to provide autocompletion suggestions. After I performed all that testing, from within the LXTerminal I created a directory called test inside my home folder (so its full path was /home/ek/test) and created a symbolic link to it called /home/ek/test2. Then I deleted the original directory, but left the symbolic link. Then I opened a pcmanfm window and typed in the path /home/ek/test2. The result is that same message box coming up (with the The specified directory is not valid error). But pcmanfm does not crash immediately, in this situation. Instead, it crashes when I click OK in the message box. I have verified that pcmanfm does not generally crash when the The specified directory is not valid error occurs, by typing /home/ek/test (the nonexistent directory, not the existent symbolic link to it) in the address bar and pressing enter. This produces that error message box (as is the expected and correct behaviour), but does not result in a crash.
