[Bug 495394] Re: autostart almost always fails on boot time host
I can reproduce this on a fresh Ubuntu 11.04 using two 11.04 virtual machines (I had better luck with my previous 10.10 install that did work properly for me). The patch provided by Mika does not seem to work for me, libvirt does not seem to be started properly with it (my domains are not shown in virsh with a `list --all' for example). OK' though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495394 Title: autostart almost always fails on boot time host -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 495394] Re: autostart almost always fails on boot time host
I like the idea of Mika's patch. Besides extending it to not break on eth0:1, should it (and can it) be extended to also support slow network links which are not bridges? I'm assigning this temporarily to SpamapS to get his opinion, and give him a chance to nack the patch if he thinks an imminent new upstart feature will fix this. If such a feature is not imminent, then I'll push the fix for o-series and SRU it back. ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium = High ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Clint Byrum (clint-fewbar) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495394 Title: autostart almost always fails on boot time host -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 423071] Re: PHP5 now depends on libapache2-mod-php5 even if lighttpd installed
I don't think there's a bug in PHP5 here, if the apache2 is getting installed then it's a bug in APT resolving the dependencies somewhere. Also it _is_ documented: This package is a meta-package that, when installed, guarantees that you have at least one of the four server-side versions of the PHP5 interpreter installed. Removing this package won't remove PHP5 from your system, however it may remove other packages that depend on this one. And there's no bug in 9.10 - this is normal behaviour. If you run apt- get install php5 it will install the first alternative dependency. If you did apt-get install php5 php5-cgi then it would work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423071 Title: PHP5 now depends on libapache2-mod-php5 even if lighttpd installed -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 495394] Re: autostart almost always fails on boot time host
Part of this problem is that there are 2 competing mechanisms for bringing the bridges up: 1) bridge-network-interface.conf from bridge-utils 2) network-interface.conf from ifupdown These two seem to be racing which one gets to handle the interface. It seems that most of the time network-interface.conf is faster and emits net-device-up. bridged-network.conf (from the patch) relies on net- device-up events. Because of the bridge-network-interface.conf the bridged-network.conf didn't seem to get all the net-device-up events which caused occasional failures. At least for me that happened very seldom and that made the problem more difficult to solve. I've disabled bridged-network-interface.conf and haven't had any problems with networking and libvirt for a few months now. The attachment has my current solution for 10.04. I haven't tested it with 10.10 or 11.04. It now checks status for status network-interface instead of bridge-network-interface so it's a bit more generic and could help with wider range of network configurations, not just with bridges. I have also rename bridged-network.conf to network-up.conf. If you have tested the previous patch and are going to test this one make sure you don't have both bridged-network.conf and network-up.conf. I don't have any setups using alias interfaces so I don't know if this helps with with those but at least it's not that bridge specific any more. ** Patch added: Patch V3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/495394/+attachment/2125882/+files/network-up.conf.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495394 Title: autostart almost always fails on boot time host -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to submit this bug. The file which is failing actually ships with debconf. The code in the archive does not jive with the error message. However, a google search points to http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1694794.html which suggests that simply ignoring the error and doing sudo dpkg --configure -a sudo apt-get install -f should get you past it. [Bug 781494] [NEW] Apply upstream fix to broken perl plugins for pidgin 2.6.6
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidgin A bug in pidgin 2.6.6 means that signals (aka events) in perl plugins are passed invalid/incorrect arguments. This has already been documented and fixed upstream. See http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/11431. Here is the fix (reverts the regression while also avoiding the compiler warning that prompted the original change): http://developer.pidgin.im/viewmtn/revision/diff/b84cb254e83a2dd3b31443d05163b32875e98fdf/with/3762c9332c14ac3b681bae2c99c49773c2e46e8a/libpurple/plugins/perl /perl-handlers.c. Since lucid will be around for several more years and there's no urgent reason (read security fixes) to move lucid to 2.7.x, could this minor fix be applied to allow perl pidgin plugins to work again in lucid? It's hard to release plugins when you have to then also convince most of your users to upgrade via a ppa or backports just to get basic plugins to work. lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS Release:10.04 apt-cache policy pidgin pidgin: Installed: 1:2.6.6-1ubuntu4.3 Candidate: 1:2.6.6-1ubuntu4.3 Version table: *** 1:2.6.6-1ubuntu4.3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:2.6.6-1ubuntu4.1 0 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/main Packages 1:2.6.6-1ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 500 http://ubuntu.osuosl.org/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages ** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781494 Title: Apply upstream fix to broken perl plugins for pidgin 2.6.6 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After a recent system update gnome-settings-daemon crashes with segmentation fault upon login to gnome shell (installed from ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3, gnome-settings-daemon 3.0.1-0ubuntu1~build4). The #68 comment hack makes it even worse: the session hangs (nevertheless, it did the trick under with vanilla ubuntu-10.10: I was affected until upgraded to Natty + Gnome3, have SSD, Core i7). Before the update everything worked just fine (gnome-settings-daemon 3.0.1-0ubuntu1~build3.1). [Bug 777702] Re: Missing window control buttons in LibreOffice window under Unity desktop ubuntu 11.04
You don't have to reboot. I checked that when I open document in LibreOffice buttons disappear, but when You close the document (not the LibreOffice, just the document) and You open it again (or any other document) the buttons will be back again. After this, every time when You open or close the document but not the program itself, then the buttons will stay. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/02 Title: Missing window control buttons in LibreOffice window under Unity desktop ubuntu 11.04 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 776345] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 blank screen on boot
I would like to thank everyone for contributing to my bug report. As I originally stated, apparently I am not the only one to be suffering from the Natty update. Everything was fine with my system until the recent update and now I am glad I never gave up on Windows by keeping it in my dual-boot system as it is now through Windows XP that I find myself writing this. Unless I find something that works soon I will most likely be reverting back not to Ubuntu 10.10 but rather to the 10.04 LTS so that I don't have to deal with any updates that completely kill my system (which is exactly what happened) for at least another year. Canonical really needs to re-evaluate their strategy to use this new Unity desktop because it seems to really be hurting the momentum that Ubuntu had gained while using GNOME as the default desktop environment. Perhaps Unity is the right choice for netbooks but definitely not for desktops, at least not yet. I, for one, would never have decided to switch over to Linux if my first experience with Linux had given me half as many headaches as the current situation that Natty Narwhal is making us endure. Thanks again to everyone and don't give up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776345 Title: Ubuntu 11.04 blank screen on boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 778490] Re: Random logout after upgrading to Natty Narwhal 11.04
Exact same problem here, I have a Dell Latitude D610, I'm using Ubuntu Classic, random log out generally after one click in Chrome, it can be after a click on a link but it just happened to me after closing a tab, I also had the case once while I was using the Pokerstars app in Wine 1.2.2, I can spend a whole day without this occuring but it can also occur 5 min after turning on my laptop, the only systematic trigger seems to be a mouse click. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778490 Title: Random logout after upgrading to Natty Narwhal 11.04 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
