[Bug 777606] Re: Panel turns black when maximizing terminal

2011-05-14 Thread Dei Graleitur
Addition: I installed the Lubuntu desktop (wow... it's awesome), and
this issue still exists, so it's not contained to Xubuntu. It also
happens with LxTerm. If I move the panel from the top to the left, it
blacks out just the same. I'm also using Nvidia driver (270.x.x) and
using (a custom build) of 2.6.38.6 (stock kernel, not with Ubuntu mods).

[Bug 693615] Re: Unity launcher displays no 'add application to launcher' option for skype

2011-05-14 Thread JackVrouwes
I installed the Archive Manager also called "file-roller." I checked it
in "Main Menu," and I can launch it from the terminal. However, it does
not show up in either "Search" or "Installed" of the Dash. How do I
enter it in the launcher?

There seems to be no connection to the Gnome "Main Menu" capability and
the Unity "Dash" functions. IMHO such connecting functionality should
be added to unity,

[Bug 782906] [NEW] doesn't correctly save username when X.509 With Password set

2011-05-14 Thread Trevor Davis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn-kde

When adding/editing an openvpn connection using the default network
manager in Kubuntu (after installing network-manager-openvpn-kde) when I
set the "X.509 With Password" Connection type and then set the username
to what the vpn network wants (a long number) it is always reverts to my
Kubuntu username (trevorld) when I look at the settings later instead of
staying the username I actually specified. It is hard to say if it is
also keeping the correct passwod since I can only see bullets. Suffice
to say I can't connect to my openvpn network with the Kubuntu network
manager. Had this exact same problem in Meerkat, was only able to get
the openvpn connection to work by uninstalling the Kubuntu network
manager and installing the one from Ubuntu.

[Bug 716814] Re: Please re-enable CONFIG_SOUND_OSS* and CONFIG_SND_*OSS*

2011-05-14 Thread nzadLithium
ossp works on 11.04. I downloaded the modified libfuse from this page:
http://mirror.leaseweb.com/kernel/people/tj/ossp/ and ossp from this:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/osspd/

once libfuse was compiled and installed I had to modprobe cuse.
chmod 777 /dev/cuse (i'm sure theres better permissions but I'm lazy).
compile ossp
copy the ossp binaries to /usr/bin
run ossp -v -f
chmod 777 /dev/dsp
chmod 777 /dev/mixer
chmod 777 /dev/adsp

I had perfect sound output from the application aqualung when started with
aqualung --output oss.
It appears that mmap is not currently working though. On this page:
http://osspd.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=osspd/osspd;a=log;h=HEAD it
states that 7 months ago the fuse mmap api changed so mmap is currently
disabled. There was another release of osspd (the one i'm using now) 2 months
ago but that does not have working mmap, so games based on quake3 engine (and
anything else using mmap) will still not work.

The output from ossp opens a connection and closes connection as
expected with aqualung, however as soon as an mmap connection tries to
open, it closes.

[Bug 779455] Re: no window borders in unity, no max-min-close buttons

2011-05-14 Thread Mateosan
Same bug here. It happens intermittently when launching applications,
maximizing windows, closing multiple windows, after the screen saver is
activated, and occasionally when programs crash. I get windows with no
borders or title bar. Logging out and back in fixes it but, obviously I
can't do this all the time. I've noticed it gets worse if my system is
up for longer periods of time. If I leave my machine running for man
than a few hours it happens more frequently.

[Bug 777713] Re: cups pdf prints only blank page

2011-05-14 Thread Suresh Ramasubramanian
This affects me when printing to cups-pdf AND when printing to my
regularly installed printer (HP Deskjet F4288). This is both with the
default natty drivers, and with the latest hplip drivers from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html)

In both cases, it prints a blank page and then exits.

[Bug 781413] Re: Banshee deleted half of my music collection

2011-05-14 Thread marcus-
yes same thing happed to me. I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.04. I
installed Banshee 2.0 from PPA "Launchpad." Everything seemed to work
fine, although some of my cover-art was wrong. Any way I delete a song
in Banshee and it deleted my /Home/Username/Music folder.

[Bug 782893] [NEW] libvdpau1 is not working

2011-05-14 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libvdpau1

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 dev (64 bit) with nvidia-current
270.41.06-0ubuntu1, libvdpau1 0.4.1-2ubuntu1 and flashplugin-nonfree
10.2.159.1ubuntu1. The file /etc/adobe/mms.cfg exists and
EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode is set to 1.

I have tried from
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/stagevideo.html some videos but
they are rendered in "software video rendering" mode. I have installed
the official drivers from NVIDIA and they are working without a problem.
The videos show me "accelerated video rendering".

I have made some tests a few hours and figured out that the official
NVIDIA driver needs at least the file
/usr/lib32/vdpau/libvdpau_nvidia.so.270.41.06. The nvidia-current
package has this file too at /usr/lib32/nvidia-
current/vdpau/libvdpau_nvidia.so.270.41.06. But it is still not
activated and I can't figure out why.

[Bug 776565] Re: compiz no longer able to drive my external monitor on upgrade to 11.04; does not recover

2011-05-14 Thread MIchael Sharman
Yep, having the same problems here also, with a dual monitor set up.
Works fine without compiz, but with compiz the screen gets corrupts.
Symptoms including random garbage over monitors, to just a black screen
where the background should be, and dragging windows leaves a trail of
artifacts as if the background is not being rendered at all.

My graphics card chipset is ATI Radeon X800XT.

[Bug 782885] Re: package udev 167-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-05-14 Thread reye
I noticed the report stated:
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04

I'm currently running 10.10 x86 but I do also have 11.04 x64 installed as an
additional boot option on the USB drive. I was working with the 11.04 distro
with the persistence option set then switched back to 10.10.
   uname -a
   Linux ubuntu 2.6.35-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19 20:34:50 UTC 2010
i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Could this be contributing to the error? Is it possible to use the
persistent option between two different Ubuntu distro on the same USB?
If you need any further information please let me know.

[Bug 553162] Re: Set $LANGUAGE if the user picks a different locale in gdm, so that language-selector and gdm stop disagreeing

2011-05-14 Thread Kentaro
@Gunnar, (#107)

Thank you for your help. I tested it and it seems to be working at this
moment.

I was in doubt that selecting "English" of Language menu affects all locale
settings such as LC_TIME or LC_NUMERIC.
Let me see what happens with my settings. Now I have "export LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8;
export LC_MESSAGES=C" in my
.gnomerc and .zshenv. "echo $LANGUAGE" says "LANGUAGE=en_US:en". Gnome Clock
displays current date in Japanese
format.

[Bug 782890] [NEW] no ping response on all hosts after upgrade

2011-05-14 Thread Eric Metzler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: backuppc

After upgrading from 3.1.0 to 3.2.0 as part of the Ubuntu server upgrade
from maverick to natty, none of my hosts were backing up, and all
(including localhost) were reporting "no ping response". I followed all
instructions prior to upgrading, and backuppc was at 3.1.0-9ubuntu2 and
working. I discovered the addition of the Ping6Path config variable,
which is set to "undef" by default. My config.pl file had the line

$Conf{Ping6Path} = undef;

after both an upgrade to 3.2.0-3ubuntu4 and a clean install after
purging the package. This, combined with the added code to Lib.pm caused
the $pingPath in $pingCmd to be empty, thus causing the "no ping
response" errors.

Changing the Ping6Path line in config.pl to

$Conf{Ping6Path} = '/bin/ping6';

solved the problem. This value should be populated by default for a
fresh install if /bin/ping6 is found, just as /bin/ping is populated in
$Conf{PingPath}.

[Bug 782887] [NEW] tv-out does not work after upgrade to natty

2011-05-14 Thread Donatas Glodenis
Public bug reported:

TV-out stopped working after upgrade to Natty. I suspect xserver-xorg-
video-intel driver.

After plugging in the S-Video cable to computer and tv I see it is
enabled by running

dg@bala:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2304 x 800, maximum 4096 x 4096
LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 303mm x
190mm
   1280x800 59.9*+
   1024x768 60.0
   800x60060.3 56.2
   640x48059.9
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
TV1 connected 1024x768+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x
0mm
   848x48030.0 +
   640x48030.0 +
   1024x768 30.0*
   800x60030.0

But the tv screen shows nothing. I tested it on Windows and see that
this is not a hardware problem. Also it used to be working in Maverick
and before.

[Bug 782710] Re: Cannot install LibreOffice 3.3.2 with OOo 3.3

2011-05-14 Thread JayBofMA
I may have pasted the error from the OOo installation. But the message
was similar for the LibreOffice installation; both noted the failure to
overwrite openoffice.org.xml. I see now your confusion with
interpreting the point of my bug report. I am sorry I was unclear. But
in both scenarios I just described above, an error will be logged for
LibreOffice installation not being able to overwrite the
openoffice.org.xml used by OOo, or OOo installation not being able to
overwrite the openoffice.org.xml used by LibreOffice.

[Bug 782886] [NEW] Nonlocalizable strings: language support

2011-05-14 Thread Reşat SABIQ
Public bug reported:

When setting regional formats (date, etc.) system-wide, authentication dialog
just below the title bar says:
"System policy prevented ..."

This string currently appears to be non-localizable.

P.S. Could be in language support itself, or in policykit, i don't have
time to verify...

[Bug 762203] Re: Computer is not turned off at shutdown

2011-05-14 Thread Colin
I can confirm this bug on my HP notebook 11.04 w/ Unity and ATI video.
If I do a sudo halt from the terminal it shuts down properly. However,
reboot from the menu or terminal still do not work. Shutting down from
the menu or either reboot will hang on the Ubuntu splash screen with the
dots. A couple of the dots animate and then nothing - hung.

[Bug 782884] [NEW] Nonlocalizable strings: show current layout

2011-05-14 Thread Reşat SABIQ
Public bug reported:

The title bar says: Keyboard Layout "..."

Verified using several locales that it's not localizable.

P.S. I think it's probably in xkeyboard-config (xkb), but don't have
time to verify...

[Bug 782883] [NEW] After upgrading from Maverick to Natty libreoffice-base opens my embedded database using a HSQL database engine but cannot manipulate it

2011-05-14 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libreoffice

After upgrading from Maverick to Natty libreoffice-base opens my embedded
database using a HSQL database engine but can no longer manipulate it. There
are no tool bars visible in the form which I had created and thus no buttons to
manipulate the contents of the embedded database using a HSQL database engine.
On the »Linuxtag 2011« fair on May 12th, 2011, in Berlin, Germany, on the
»Libreoffice« booth, Libreoffice representatives used the newest Base
developmental release (Beta 6?) on Windows 7 and were able to open and
manipulate my embedded database using HSQL database engine.
Please build a new libreoffice-base package so that I can use my .odb database
for daily work as I did in openoffice.org Lucid.

[Bug 688117] Re: Launcher does not raise minimized windows consistently

2011-05-14 Thread Guillaume
I can see that when you minimize a window, it didn't get unfocus. Then,
the lancher, for obscure reason, can't unminimize an already focused
window. I just select another one and I can bring back my old window.

[Bug 782710] Re: Cannot install LibreOffice 3.3.2 with OOo 3.3

2011-05-14 Thread JayBofMA
Well it is nice to hear that no such package exists. But give it a
whirl. Try installing OOo 3.3 with LibreOffice 3.3.2 in place, and you
will see an error similar to this. Or perform the reverse, install
LibreOffice with OOo installed. A nearly identical error is emitted.
Granted I only went through this because of the issues LibreOffice has
with printing multi-tabbed Calc sheets as well as the hanging that
occurs when pasting large numbers of rows to a sheet. But I failed to
recall that OOo cannot Save-As Microsoft Office 2003/2007 format, so I
had to revert my changes and cleanly reinstall LibreOffice, only to see
a message like that noted above. I just thought you should know.

[Bug 782882] [NEW] Tomboy keybindings not working in 11.04

2011-05-14 Thread Jonathan Reeve
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

I try to press any of the hotkeys listed in the Tomboy Preferences tab
"Hotkeys," and none of them are working. I also tried assigning them to
different keys to see if it was a conflict of some sort, but I still
can't get tomboy to respond to any of these stimuli.

[Bug 541937] Re: Copying files to USB flash drive is extremely slow

2011-05-14 Thread Adam Porter
Sam_, that bug is about FAT32, and this bug may not be limited to FAT32.
If it's a USB problem, not a fs problem, then it's probably not limited
to FAT32.

[Bug 758083] Re: Natty does not shutdown

2011-05-14 Thread Colin
I can confirm this bug on my HP notebook 11.04 w/ Unity. If I do a sudo
halt from the terminal it shuts down properly, however, reboot from the
menu or terminal still do not work. Rather than hanging on a black
screen, shutdown from the menu or either reboot will hang on the Ubuntu
splash screen with the dots. A couple of the dots animate and then
nothing - hung.
