[Bug 797161] Re: package amavisd-new-postfix (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: underproces installerede post-installation-script returnerede afslutningsstatus 1
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Visibility changed to: Public ** This bug is no longer flagged as a security vulnerability -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to amavisd-new in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/797161 Title: package amavisd-new-postfix (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: underproces installerede post-installation-script returnerede afslutningsstatus 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amavisd-new/+bug/797161/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 782890] Re: no ping response on all hosts after upgrade
I was hit by the same bug after upgrade to Natty - the original poser's solution worked (configuring $Conf{Ping6Path} = '/bin/ping6';. I totally agree that this should be set by default - there's no reason for others to waste time trying to figure out why backups aren't working (there's no clear indication that this is the cause). I don't have ipv6 support on LAN nor externally, and have not changed anything in this regard in Ubuntu's internal configuration as far as I know. [Bug 522509] Re: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot
I have the same problem, using lucid latest package (5.0-11ubuntu2.1). I have many interfaces configured in this machine, and nic bonding configured. Upstart seems to raise tftp when the first bond interface starts: syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [3.923760] bnx2: eth1: using MSI syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [3.924441] bonding: bond0: Warning: failed to get speed and duplex from eth1, assumed to be 100Mb/sec and Full. syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [3.924451] bonding: bond0: enslaving eth1 as an active interface with an up link. syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [3.925317] bonding: bond0: setting mode to 802.3ad (4). syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [3.925348] bonding: bond0: Setting MII monitoring interval to 100. syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [3.925395] bonding: bond0: Setting LACP rate to fast (1). syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname in.tftpd[842]: cannot resolve local IPv4 bind address: 0.0.0.0, Name or service not known syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname init: tftpd-hpa main process (842) terminated with status 66 syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname init: tftpd-hpa main process ended, respawning syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [4.129433] 802.1Q VLAN Support v1.8 Ben Greear gree...@candelatech.com syslog.2.gz:Jun 13 14:17:02 hostname kernel: [4.129436] All bugs added by David S. The status tftpd-hpa says the job is running, when it's not (should THAT happen?). stop/start raises the program just fine. I tried to change the condition to (filesystem and and started networking), but that seems to start it even earlier. I've changed it to (filesystem and net-device-up IFACE=bond0.80) (bond0.80 is the last bond interface) and then it worked. But the problem may actually be that bondX is !=lo, and it may come up before any of its slaves be available, resulting in the cannot resolve local IPv4 bind address: 0.0.0.0 error. Should I open a new bug? If so, should it be on tftpd-hpa, or some other package? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tftp-hpa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/522509 Title: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ltsp/+bug/522509/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Just tested, the error still exists in Natty. Test case: That's very easy to create. [Bug 796313] Re: Random logout to tty
In tty those mentioned lines scroll down, the last word is password in large letters, but if I start typing it displays clear letters. Some time later user login appears or I can hit [Enter] more times until it displays user login. After login I can startx which logs me into failsafe GUI without complains as before. Either from there or from tty I can do a reboot. Last time it was rebooted I didn't connect to wireless or eth0 (I need to restart nm-applet for this anyway), instead I opened a terminal to grab some errors from log files, but after a few letters typing got logged out to tty again. [Bug 797537] [NEW] Natty 11.04 Gateway NV79 BACKLIGHT TURNED OFF DURING BOOT
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel BUG creeped into Maverick 10.10; wasn't in Lucid 10.04. Still exists in Natty 11.04 (can be verified with Natty distribution CD). During boot sequence, display backlight is turned off. Also occurs when waking up from suspend. Graphics are being output but cannot be seen because backlight is off. Plugging in an external monitor and setting to mirror displays turns on the backlight. (which will go off again upon suspend). [Bug 797544] [NEW] grub2 waits forever for keystroke before booting default OS. headless server. hang.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 After a seemingly-routine apt-get update on an Ubuntu 10.10 server, the machine hangs on boot. It is sitting at the grub2 prompt, waiting in vain for someone to come along and press enter. I have tried two workarounds: - Edit /etc/grub.d/00_header to remove the check for recordfail in: make_timeout () { echo set timeout=1 } In /etc/default/grub set GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=2 - Then sudo update-grub Now I'm pretty dang stuck. There is plenty of forum activity on this issue, but no true solutions. ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/797544 Title: grub2 waits forever for keystroke before booting default OS. headless server. hang. [Bug 797543] [NEW] Grub2 and tty characters illegible white blocks
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 After a fresh install of Natty on my new PC I noticed that upon booting the characters of grub and the 'scrolling list of messages' were completely illegible. Updates were made but it only showed white blocks where there should be messages. Boot up commenced successfully however. After logging into the normal unity shell I typed Ctrl-Alt-F1 to go to tty1 and found the situation there similar. I could not read anything. After some searching I found the following post: http://harrison3001.blogspot.com/2009/09/grub-2-graphical-boot-tips-to- set.html and followed the following instructions: For example i use Debian within VirtualBox at a resolution of 1280x800 for the console and also for the Xorg server. If you want you to start with this resolution also for GRUB 2 (remember in the past was very limited this feature, and if you are using VirtualBox or other virtualization programs the annoying result was in resizing the window and than enlarging upon the system goes into graphical mode, for example, with the splash screen: usplash, splashy and others), very nice, no more discrepancies between modes: the line to change into the /etc/default/grub file is GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x800 and then issuing update- grub. The resulting action is to write the line set gfxmode=1280x800 into the grub.cfg file. I used a gfxmode=1280x1024 as this is the resolution of my screen. After this both the tty, grub and scrolling list of messages were legible again. I think the problem is that the 'gfxmode' was set to a property that my new ATI card could not handle? If any more information is required please let me know. [Bug 795845] Re: pkgstripfiles: symlinks doc files but leaves records in md5sums
This bug was fixed in the package pkgbinarymangler - 100 --- pkgbinarymangler (100) oneiric; urgency=low * test/run: Add forgotten check_deb_integrity() to documentation symlink tests. This catches the wrong md5sums of symlinked doc files. * pkgstripfiles: Remove doc files from md5sums which get replaced with a symlink. (LP: #795845) * test/run: Call check_deb_integrity() in build(), and remove the explicit call from all the individual tests. There is no situation where we expect broken debs to be created, so this saves us from accidentally forgetting to call it in newly created tests. * test/run: Drop separate check_translation_tarball() test, and integrate it into check_deb_mo(). We now want to move to only building translation tarballs for packages which we actually strip, so it does not make sense any more to check those two individually. * pkgstriptranslations: Do not build a translation tarball if we did not strip the packages. With that, Launchpad does not need to check the component of the package any more, but can just import everything we throw at it. This also allows us to put some selected universe packages under langpack support. (LP: #788685, part 1) * pkgstriptranslations: Force stripping and translation tarball build if debian/control has X..-Ubuntu-Use-Langpack: yes header. Add corresponding test case. (LP: #788685, part 2) * test/run: Fix ResourceWarnings for unclosed files.
