[Bug 817167] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10 failed to install/upgrade: sous-processus script post-installation installé tué par le signal (Processus arrêté)

2011-07-28 Thread James Page
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks like you have a couple of issues here:

1) AppArmor parser error for /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld in
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld at line 9: Could not open
'abstractions/mysql'

This is odd - this file is part of the apparmor package and should be
represent in /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions - please could you take a look
and see if it is missing.

2) /media/raid5/Pierre/mysql/serveur-ubuntu.lower-test is being denied
to mysql

It would appear that mysql is trying to access this directory to create
data files - is /var/lib/mysql a symbolic link to this directory? In
which case it probably needs to be added to
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld - see the file for how /var/lib/mysql is
setup.

Please update this file accordingly and try to start mysql.

Marking this bug as importance 'Low' (as I believe this is an issue
specific to your situation) and 'Incomplete' pending your response on
the above.

Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

For some reason the the install of mysql-server was unable to stop and
existing mysqld instance - however its a little unclear from the
information attached to this report as to why that occured.

Was this a new mysql-server installation or an upgrade to an existing
install?

Please could you also attach output from the following commands to this
bug report:

  sudo ps -aef | grep mysqld
  sudo initctl list

and the following log files:

  /var/log/mysql/*.log

Marking this bug as 'Low' importance and 'Incomplete' pending your

[Bug 781557] [NEW] multiple search domains not honoured

2011-07-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: resolvconf

in /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base I have

search domain1.local domain2.local

When trying to connect to a host in domain2.local using only the
hostname, only the first domain is searched by my local dnscache
(dnsmasq):

lieven@T500:~$ ping host2
ping: unknown host host2

while dnsmasq only gets the query for domain1.local

May 12 09:33:38 T500 dnsmasq[4302]: query[A] host2.domain1.local from 127.0.0.1

working on natty.

Not a resolvconf issue: resolvconf correctly composes the search line

Reassigning to dnsmasq.

I reproduced the bug and can confirm the fix for lucid. Doing the same on

Hardware for the test is:
HBA: QLogic Corp. ISP2312-based 2Gb Fibre Channel to PCI-X HBA
SAN: HP EVA3000

Connected with two different path directly between the QLogic and the
SAN.

[Bug 815865] Re: Cookie variable in Apache LogFormat outputs incorrect value

2011-07-28 Thread Scott Moser
Thank you for taking the time to create a detailed bug report. In the
future, some using 'ubuntu-bug apache2' would collect some other
information that might be helpful to developers looking to find a fix.
In this case, it would have included release information.

And just as a warning, I would guess by your 'apache -v' output that
you're running karmic (9.10) which is no longer supported. You should
upgrade to lucid to continue to receive security updates.

[Bug 687567] Re: Global menu causes white flashes when scrubbing/moving with mouse fast over menus

2011-07-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think I can confirm with Andrea that the bug is not totally fixed.
Working on another bug (742664) in the same area of code, this bug seems
to have come back. At least in my development build.

I think it's worth keeping the current fix that's already been
committed, because almost everyone reports the bug is no longer visible.
But I also think a better fix, perhaps in libdbusmenu (?), is still
required.

[Bug 509180] Re: ecryptfs sometimes seems to add trailing garbage to encrypted files

2011-07-28 Thread Ian! D. Allen
Linux linux 2.6.38-11-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 15 19:27:09 UTC
2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Description:Ubuntu 11.04
Codename:   natty

After months of kernel and application crashes and corrupt files, I
was ready to abandon Ubuntu 11.04 and go to some other distribution.
Before doing that, I wrote a script to repeatedly md5sum the files in
my ecryptfs directory and compare the results. I went single-user to
ensure that nothing else was running and, sure enough, the script showed
that md5sums changed randomly on files that I never touched.

I went looking today and found this launchpad entry indicating that you
have known for 18 months (since 9.10!) that ecryptfs is broken and is
not suitable for production use.

Why didn't you disable it in recent releases? My 11.04 install offered
to encrypt my home directory during installation, yet you've known for
18 months that to do so would corrupt my system and crash it.

I am frustrated that nobody took prompt action to disable the use of
ecryptfs and to notify those of us using it.

[Bug 817343] [NEW] TRIM support not enabled on 11.04

[Bug 648180] Re: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to)

Unity isn't a replacement for gnome, it isn't a desktop environment. Nor
is it a window manager. Unity runs on Gnome desktop and uses Compiz as
it's window manager. Unity is nothing but a shell. The bug is either
worded wrong or is a misplaced rant.

[Bug 816871] Re: byobu-statusd still runs with after closing all screens

2011-07-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package byobu - 4.23-0ubuntu1

---
byobu (4.23-0ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * usr/bin/byobu-shell:
- MOTD message does not need to be Ubuntu-specific
  * usr/bin/byobu-janitor, usr/share/byobu/profiles/common:
- revert the byobu-statusd changes in the profile
- it's just not ready yet
- LP: #814264, #816871
  * usr/bin/byobu-janitor:
- kill lingering byobu-statusd processes
  * usr/lib/byobu/logo:
- revert whitespace required by statusd
  * usr/lib/byobu/ip_address, usr/lib/byobu/.shutil:
- add a get_network_interface function
- something seems to have changed around the linux 3.0 kernel,
  in the order of /proc/net/dev; now test for 0.0.0.0 mask
  * usr/lib/byobu/ip_address, usr/lib/byobu/network,
usr/lib/byobu/.shutil:
- reuse the get_network_interface function across network operations
  * usr/lib/byobu/updates_available:
- support package kit, LP: #815579
  * usr/bin/byobu-config, usr/bin/byobu-select-session:
- use python's default parameter for os.getenv(), LP: #816026
  * usr/bin/byobu-config:
- simple var name updates
  * usr/bin/byobu-janitor, usr/bin/byobu-status,
usr/lib/byobu/.constants, usr/share/byobu/profiles/tmux:
- use new color methods, better tmux support
- quiet killing of statusd
  * usr/lib/byobu/date:
- need a whitespace

[Bug 812810] Re: [oneiric] libunity-misc4 needs to be upgraded to 0.2.1

2011-07-28 Thread dino99
@Omer

instead of changing status to incomplete you'd better to check actual unity
dependencies.
yes its a package naming bug, latest version into repo:

unity 4.4.0-0ubuntu1, depending on: libunity-misc4 (=0.2.1)

but this package have version 4.0.2-0ubuntu1 into repo, validating this
report.

Is that makes sense ?

[Bug 817234] Re: cannot bind host port already in use

2011-07-28 Thread Runa A. Sandvik
It sounds like tor is already running. What happens if you type 'ps aux
| grep tor'? You could try to run 'dpkg-reconfigure vidalia' to tell
Vidalia to take over the Tor process and not start Tor until you start
Vidalia.

[Bug 816314] Re: Kernel 2.6.38-10 freezes ubuntu

2011-07-28 Thread T Kortehisto
My computer still froze with 2.6.38-11 kernel from proposed. Also the
kernel in testing did not shutdown the computer correctly as I got the
checking disks for errors message when I booted up even though I didn't
notice anything out of the ordinary yesterday. However, it feels like
the 11 (and possibly 10) kernel is slower in booting up compared to 8.
Do you need more information about the 10/11 kernel or can I switch
back to 8 which is stable with my hardware?
