[Bug 483928]
(In reply to comment #38) I haven't seen this one before. The text you included indicates that ssh-keyscan was processing a Protocol 2 key and it should be using the modified code to do it. Is there any way that you could send me a traceback when the failure occurs? I'll do that, when I'm back in the office. I'll use your patch. (This was with the stock Ubuntu build; it was just a failure mode that hadn't been noted here before.) FWIW - I think the 2: Protocol Timeout part of the message comes from the remote SSH-2.0-RomSShell_4.62 server because I couldn't find that text in the OpenSSH source. What is RomSShell? It seems to be an OEM embedded implementation of SSH... this was probably a router or something. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483928 Title: ssh-keyscan(1) exits prematurely on some non-fatal errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openssh/+bug/483928/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 670289] Re: Laptop won't shut down with rabbitmq running
The problem might be with the rabbitmq service user and lightdm. Lightdm can't log out because there is another user still logged in. If you change from lightdm to use gdm does it help? - sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm (select gdm) - (reboot) This bug might be related https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/86 although rabbitmq is a system user and they are talking about real users. Very similar kind of bug has been discussed before. [Bug 670289] Re: Laptop won't shut down with rabbitmq running
I've been running RabbitMQ 2.6.1 and 2.7.0 for a while on 11.10 (and 11.04) without any of these problems. I'm not sure what is different in my setup compared to yours, but maybe we can work it out? I am running with lightdm, not gdm. NetworkManager is enabled, but the ethernet is managed via /etc/network/interfaces instead. (eth0 is bound to a bridge, br0, which then uses DHCP to obtain an IP. Several virtual machines also bind to br0) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to rabbitmq-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670289 Title: Laptop won't shut down with rabbitmq running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rabbitmq-server/+bug/670289/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 894608] Re: Implementing a bridge slows 10G network
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Installing bridge-utils and then setting up a bridge in /etc/netwrok/interfaces decimates my netwrok speed. Uninstalling the package and doing a reboot restores the speed. This bug was originally posted here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/861141 but I now realise it is bridge-utils specific. Hardware: I have two identical machines (DELL poweredge R815), each with Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM57711 10-Gigabit PCIe connected via a 10G switch. Each machine runs 4 socket 12 core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6174 and 128GB of ram Software: Both machines ar running ubuntu server 10.04 lts Kernels are: Linux whitlam 2.6.32-28-server #55-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 10 23:57:16 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux Linux fraser 2.6.32-28-server #55-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 10 23:57:16 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux I have installed iperf on both machines. The tests here involve running whitlam as the iperf server and fraser as the client. On whitlam I run: bioadmin@whitlam:~# iperf -sm On fraser I run: bioadmin@fraser:~# iperf -c whitlam -d before installation I get: bioadmin@whitlam:~# iperf -sm Server listening on TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 85.3 KByte (default) [ 5] local 10.168.48.14 port 5001 connected with 10.168.48.13 port 37960 Client connecting to 10.168.48.13, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 110 KByte (default) [ 6] local 10.168.48.14 port 49627 connected with 10.168.48.13 port 5001 Waiting for server threads to complete. [Bug 894279] [NEW] cloud-init fails to fetch metadata with OpenStack
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Tested the UEC Lucid, Maverick, Natty and Oneiric images with OpenStack Diablo. When launching multiple (20+) instances at the same time the OpenStack metadata server becomes quite slow and cloud-init fails to fetch the metadata due to its short timeout of 2 (3 for Oneiric) seconds in DataSourceEc2.py. This is an unreasonably small timeout value. I'd suggest a timeout of 60 secs and 5 retries as the default. init: cloud-init-local main process (217) terminated with status 1 init: cloud-init-nonet main process (290) killed by TERM signal init: udev-fallback-graphics main process (317) terminated with status 1 init: plymouth main process (59) killed by SEGV signal init: plymouth-splash main process (345) terminated with status 2 cloud-init start running: Fri, 30 Sep 2011 12:01:48 +. up 2.17 seconds 2011-09-30 12:01:50,874 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: waiting for metadata service at http://169.254.169.254/2009-04-04/meta-data/instance-id 2011-09-30 12:01:50,875 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:01:50 [ 1/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:01:53,879 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:01:53 [ 2/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:01:54,883 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:01:54 [ 3/30]: url error [[Errno 113] No route to host] 2011-09-30 12:01:57,887 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:01:57 [ 4/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:01:58,893 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:01:58 [ 5/30]: url error [[Errno 113] No route to host] 2011-09-30 12:02:01,897 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:01 [ 6/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:05,902 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:05 [ 7/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:09,907 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:09 [ 8/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:13,913 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:13 [ 9/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:17,918 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:17 [10/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:21,923 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:21 [11/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:26,773 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:26 [12/30]: url error [[Errno 113] No route to host] 2011-09-30 12:02:31,778 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:31 [13/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:36,785 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:36 [14/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:41,791 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:41 [15/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:46,797 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:46 [16/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:02:52,013 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:52 [17/30]: url error [[Errno 113] No route to host] 2011-09-30 12:02:58,019 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:02:58 [18/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:04,026 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:04 [19/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:10,033 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:10 [20/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:16,040 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:16 [21/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:23,023 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:23 [22/30]: url error [[Errno 113] No route to host] 2011-09-30 12:03:30,030 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:30 [23/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:37,038 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:37 [24/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:44,046 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:44 [25/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:51,054 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:51 [26/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:03:59,063 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:03:59 [27/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:04:07,071 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:04:07 [28/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:04:15,082 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:04:15 [29/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:04:23,091 - DataSourceEc2.py[WARNING]: 12:04:23 [30/30]: url error [timed out] 2011-09-30 12:04:29,097 - DataSourceEc2.py[CRITICAL]: giving up on md after 160 seconds no instance data found in start ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- cloud-init fails to fetch metadata with OpenStack https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/894279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 880707] Re: [regression] Visible tearing is worse in 11.10 than 11.04, even when Sync To VBlank is enabled, but only when Unity is active.
With respect to this bug, it is the tearing seen when dragging windows around when running Unity. This bug is mainly about the fact that it got noticeably worse in 11.10 compared to 11.04. The precise reason why it got worse is detailed here: https://code.launchpad.net/~vanvugt/unity/fix-861061-trunk/+merge/82861 So the trigger was a significant increase in latency inside unity's plugin painting code. The problem has been addressed two-fold: 1. In Unity, resolving the latency regression introduced in Ubuntu 11.10; and 2. In Compiz, improving frame timing so that it is more resistant to latency regressions in plugins. I know there are many possible causes of tearing, and I'm not claiming to fix all of them. But these two fixes are a good start. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880707 Title: [regression] Visible tearing is worse in 11.10 than 11.04, even when Sync To VBlank is enabled, but only when Unity is active. If someone can just confirm if this is the way thins are supposed to be, that would be great! [Bug 877440] Re: [iOS 5] Unhandled Lockdown error (-15)
New upgrade to oneiric. idevice_id correctly identifies device ID as JimmyG's iPhone and if I plug the iPhone4 (iOS 5) in with it in a locked state I get a dialog telling me that it is locked and should be unlocked. Possible, but can't be sure. Is it possible to find a stacktrace of the crash somehow? Otherwise, I don't see how a developer can work on this. [Bug 887776] Re: Dell Latitude e4200 Ambient Light sensor doesn't work
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric staging ** Description changed: I have a problem with my system, i think it's a kernel issue because light sensor stop to respond after kernel load. For example, when i am in the GRUB menu, light sensor work correctly and i can enable and disable sensor with FN+left arrow, but when kernel starts to load, without any module loaded (i stop loading to an emergency shell, so i eliminate issues concerning modules or any other software, i.e. gnome-power-manager), light sensor stops to work. I test my pc with a CentOS 5.5 live (kernel 2.6.18) and it's OK, also in emergency shell, if i try with CentOS 6 (kernel version over 2.6.30) the issue is present, so i think it's a kernel regression, but i'm not sure. My collegue with a Dell Latitude XT (it's an older series) has not the issue, its ambient light sensor works fine. with lsinput i identify the Dell Wky Hotkeys and if i check with /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event6 i read: scan code: 0x4B key code: unknown So is this a problem related to dell_wmi? What can i do to identify the issue more precisely?
