[Bug 894279] Re: cloud-init fails to fetch metadata with OpenStack
I agree that Nova needs to be fixed but we need a cloud-init fix for the current Nova as well. As for running an API server on each compute node, I don't think that's a viable solution for our environment. We've modified memcached to cache the metadata requests and that seems to help make things faster. I see your point about the metadata service not being ready in time. Do you know how long it can take for the service to become ready? How about a smarter sleeptime that always increases (linearly) from 1 to 20 secs (or some configurable upper limit)? sleeptime = int(19 * x / (sleeps - 1)) + 1 With that, the 5 retries would happen over a time of 51 secs (1, 5, 10, 15, 20 sec sleeps in between the 5 requests). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/894279 Title: cloud-init fails to fetch metadata with OpenStack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/894279/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

This is on a fresh install of 11.04 server. updates had been applied as of this am (9-21-2011) prior to attempting install of bacula. The error stems from the automatically generated bacula-dir.conf file in the DB section. dbname = bacula; DB Address = ; dbuser = bacula; dbpassword = autogeneratedpwd } The problem is in the DBNAME variable. it should be set to bacula; move the semicolon outside the quotes and it works.
-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/894279 Title: cloud-init fails to fetch metadata with OpenStack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/894279/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 439796] Re: Corrupted /var/lib/dpkg/status
Good point, but dpkg doesn't need to hide it completely. What's wrong with using the backup file but also notifying the user (through a direct warning or maybe through a logging statement) about the problem? [Bug 897575] [NEW] Compiz Grid Put Left, Put Right, Put Top Right don't work as expected.
Public bug reported: In previous Ubuntu versions one could change the width of a window by pressing the key combinations of Compiz' Grid plugin multiple times. For instance, sending a window to Left made it fill half of the screen the first time the key combination was pressed. After pressing it a second time, the window took 1/3, then 1/4, then 2/3 and after a fifth keypress it took 3/4 of the screen. For all positions, except Left, Right and Top Right this still works as it should. However, this is no longer possible for Left and Right. The window always fills half of the screen, no matter how often one presses the key combination. This makes efficient window placement quite difficult, because one has to do it manually, since for nearly all use cases, a simple 1/2-1/2-Split is not sufficient. It's also impossible to position a window in the top right corner, for Top Right and Top both place it just at the Top of the screen (centered). [Bug 893826] Re: symlinked docs are different between architectures, depending on dpkg-deb package order
This bug was fixed in the package pkgbinarymangler - 107 --- pkgbinarymangler (107) precise; urgency=low * test/run, test_doc_symlink(): Simplify installation of Makefile. * test/run, test_doc_symlink(): Introduce some test library binary packages to check handling of transitive dependencies. * pkgstripfiles, symlink_doc(): If the link destination target is itself a link, resolve it to directly link to the final target instead of not symlinking the file at all. * test/run: Add new test cases test_doc_symlink_parallel_{fixed,unlimited}() which run the symlink test with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS parallel=4 and parallel respectively. Run through them three times as this is a race condition and does not trigger every time. This reproduces LP #893826. * Add dh_builddeb: Wrapper around the debhelper command which filters out the parallel option from $DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS. We must not run dpkg-deb in parallel as this breaks a predictable doc symlink structure which we require for multi-arch. (LP: #893826) * debian/pkgbinarymangler.install: Install dh_builddeb wrapper. * debian/pkgbinarymangler.{preinst,postrm}: Set up diversion for dh_builddeb. -- Martin Pitt martin.p...@ubuntu.com Tue, 29 Nov 2011 10:00:54 +0100 ** Branch linked: lp:ubuntu/pkgbinarymangler ** Changed in: pkgbinarymangler (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to qt4-x11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/893826 Title: symlinked docs are different between architectures, depending on dpkg- deb package order To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pkgbinarymangler/+bug/893826/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
