[Bug 740815]
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wanted to voice my thoughts for posterity. Right now the embedder's story is something like: 1) Look for js-config. If found, use it to find the sdkdir, then do feature detection to figure out what JSAPI version it is. 2) Otherwise, look for libmozjs185 3) ... or for libmozjs 4) ... or for libjs I'm glad to see that the mozilla-central repository has not taken the versioning used here into the library name upstream. I encourage everyone involved in releases not to worry about getting the JS language version involved in the library naming at all. It may often be of much less importance to an embedder whether the language changed slightly as whether the embedding ABI changed, so please stick to ABI compatibility when deciding version numbering for the library and keep one library name. I suspect backward-incompatible language changes are less frequent than ABI changes and much of the JS world is used to feature-testing for language compatibility anyway due to the variety of language versions and features supported by browsers. Furthermore, embedders who _do_ care about the language version can look at the define in jsversion.h. Changing library names just complicates things needlessly. Thanks for all your hard work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to gwt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740815 Title: [FFe] Updates to enable us to drop xulrunner from main To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/740815/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 740815]
(In reply to Randall Leeds from comment #49) Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wanted to voice my thoughts for posterity. Thanks for the input. I don't think we're planning changing much right now, but at some point I think we'll want to do a new source release and it will be good to keep this in mind. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck! [This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: hardware-error ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/909579 Title: Repeated installer crashes on 64bit AMD PC clean install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/909579/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 909613] [NEW] dconf-editor is sometimes too tall
Public bug reported: When dconf-editor runs, its height changes arbitrarily. Usually I run it maximized (I'm on a netbook with a screen resolution of 1024x576). Generally, it's OK, but for some items the window becomes far too tall for my screen for no apparent reason. The first attached screenshot is what I see when I browse to com.canonical.indicator.datetime.custom-time-format with dconf-editor maximized. I know how to use Alt+Drag to move the window, but how many users know about that? And since the close buttons disappear, they'd be in a real predicament. The next two screenshots show neighboring options with the dconf-editor window at its minimum height. As you can see, both displays are unreasonable, since you can't see which option is selected. However, the one doesn't even fit in my screen. This bug affects multiple items in dconf-editor; I just gave a single example. It affects the two machines I've tested it on (including one with a much larger screen), and I've seen it in both Natty and Oneiric. Of course, the proper behaviors here are: 1. The scrollable pane where settings can be changed should have its minimum height specified such that at least one line is readable at all times. 2. The window's minimum height should be set in a sane way. 3. If the windows minimum height exceeds the available screen height, the window should scroll. [Bug 803943] Re: compiz consuming a lot of cpu
@Daniel: I'm also looking into which package solved my problem. But maybe I was suffering from two bugs. Adding the compiz PPA smoothened my whole desktop experience a lot (but introduced the flickers as I was talking about), the unity PPA helped lowered my compiz usage and GPU temp. I'm not a lot at my laptop this week, so that's causing the delay. Didn't do much so, the changes were more subtle. I also reverted my Catalyst driver back to 11.8 for a better comparison. [Bug 876020] Re: [Thinkpad R61, 8932CTO, Conexant CX20549 (Venice), Green Headphone Out, Left] No sound at all
The dkms works partially. Yes the headphone started to work but the volume control behaves weird. I made a screen capture (see attachment) to show what's wrong. In this video I change the volume by the volume buttons on the keyboard. In a terminal window I have alsamixer running to see how the volume controls are influenced by this. What you see there is also what I hear: The volume decreases when the volume notification bar (at the top right corner of the screen) decreases from 100% to approximately 60%. In that range the volume of the headphone control descreases from 100% to 0%. Then from 60% to somewhere around 5% in the notification bar, nothing happens. And when the notification bar descreases from 5% to 0% then the PCM control decreases from 100% to 0%. ** Attachment added: screen capture of volume controlls https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/876020/+attachment/2650085/+files/audio.ogv -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876020 Title: [Thinkpad R61, 8932CTO, Conexant CX20549 (Venice), Green Headphone Out, Left] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/876020/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 831972] Re: No HDMI sound with Intel core i7 and Z68 board
I got somewhat further. It seems to be not a kernel problem, because it works on the command line: aplay -D hdmi:CARD=PCH,DEV=0 /usr/share/sounds/ekiga/ring.wav does not work, but aplay -D hdmi:CARD=PCH,DEV=1 /usr/share/sounds/ekiga/ring.wav plays the sound over HDMI . :-) DEV=1 is what's needed. [Bug 880535] Re: qjackctl blocks audio output on ALSA devices
I can confirm this. As soon as qjackctl is started, no sound output on alsa devices is possible, even if the jack daemon is not started by qjackctl. I have two soundcards (one dedicated to jackd and the second for normal system sounds) and qjackctl blocks both cards, even if I configure qjackctl to only use one specific card. When I start jackd from within a shell, there is no problem. So the error seams to be in qjackctl. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880535 Title: qjackctl blocks audio output on ALSA devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qjackctl/+bug/880535/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
