While fixing the symlink worked ok for version 9.0.1, the icon was (as

weirdly. The volume of the internal speaker is extremely low with alsamixer set
to max level before I pm-suspend and resume from suspend state. And when I

after upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 no Unity appears nor desktop icons
or some other GUI info. I can get access to my files from the Terminal
w/o problems. I think the only solution in this case is reinstalling
from scratch instead trying to upgrade again from 11.04 to 11.10 .
