[Bug 995684] Re: Switching problem between headphone speaker and microphone to laptop built in speakers and front mic

2012-07-03 Thread Costas Cotsaces
Exactly the same problem here. Behavior is determined in boot time:
-if headphones plugged in at boot, sound only in headphones until next reboot.
-if headphones not plugged in at boot, sound in both speakers and headphones
until next boot.

In 11.10 the behavior was correct, speakers would turn off as soon as
headphones were plugged in.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 548992 ***

Hey Thomas, the wireless power management is already turned off, as can
be seen in the IwConfig.txt attached to the bug report and running that
command again does not aleviate the problem.

The laptop is connected to AC power, and I have tried all the solutions
from bug #548992 to no avail.

[Bug 1012916] Re: [nouveau] 12.04 Unity 3d hard freezes

2012-07-03 Thread markb
Well I have determined that for me this problem is caused by linux
kernel 3.5.0-3 (pulled in via linux-image-generic) which was installed
on my system via xorg-edgers ppa. I removed this and went back to the
generic precise kernel which is currently 3.2.0-26 and my lockups have
gone. I am still using xorg-edgers ppa, just back-graded that kernel
version.

[Bug 1020834] [NEW] instance-state: unknown

2012-07-03 Thread René Schultz Madsen
Public bug reported:

After deploy of a maas setup, the different maas managed servers report:
"instance-state: unknown"

Why is that?

It's possible to juju ssh, ping the machine, ping the maas server from
the instances, do dns lookup of the maas server from the instances. It's
possible to do dns lookup the different instances from the maas server.

The maas server is running:

Linux orc 2.6.38-15-server #60-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 22 11:45:41 UTC 2012 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release:12.04

The bootstrap instance is running:

Linux bootstrap 3.2.0-25-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 23 20:30:51 UTC 2012
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release:12.04

If nothing is wrong, then I would suggest that it tells me eg.
"instances-state: running" or something like that...

juju -v status gives me:

[Bug 1020833] [NEW] the filename /var/dpkg/info/e2fslibs.list does not match

2012-07-03 Thread William
Public bug reported:

Wile investigating package information i found that i have about 400
packages wich do not have the correct
/var/lib/dpkg/info/packagename.list. (and md5sums file)

Is there a specific reason for not naming the list file as the
packagename as shown by dpkg -l, but instead e.g. creating
/varlib/dpkg/info/e2fslibs:amd64.list?

This does not seem consistent.

I would expect that the packagename should be e2flibs:amd64 wich has a
corresponding /var/lib/dpkg/info/e2fslibs:amd64.list or on i386
e2fslibs:i386 with the corresponding name
/var/lib/dpkg/info/e2fslibs:i386.list

William van de Velde

[Bug 878516] Re: Restoring a grid-placed window by dragging the title bar downwards does not restore the original window width

2012-07-03 Thread sampo555
The problem is only happening when the window is maximized to the Left
or Right edge. If you place a window to for example top left, or bottom,
the window is resized correctly after it's snapped away from its
position.

Grid leaves the unmaximation to some other component and that doesn't
restore the width which was changed prior to maximation (my guess is
that it saves the window state after grid has changed the width) . Easy
workaround would be to resize (and reposition, the position is also
wrong if unmaximized via window controls) the window in
GridWindow::stateChangeNotify when window is unmaximized. However this
would complicate things even more as there's now two parts of the code
which handle resizing and repositioning (one for normal restore, another
for restore from maximized state).

While debugging this, I found many other bugs (I'll open separate
reports about those). IMO the window handling parts of the grid plugin
should be completely rewritten instead of relying on ugly hacks to fix
these bugs. Working around them would be hard and it will make make the
code even more complicated than needs to be and thus might cause some
other problems in the future...

Inkscape no longer uses SVN - current trunk uses BZR and is hosted here
at launchpad (you can easily find the sources following the links on
inkscape's main page here at launchpad:
).

If that doesn't help you: here's the page on inkscape.org about getting the
current sources:

...hmm I was thinking that for GNOME 3 technology they will improve
the toolkit, at least the basic functionality of the window layers ;)
Should be trivial to fix such problem in a windows 32/64 environment
but seems that is impossible with GNU tools ;)
now I'm really curios if EOG developers can fix this long standing
bug, which really make me to stop using EOG.

Your /etc/init.d/cups was from an upstream installation, so apparently
you did something like "make install" from an upstream tree. I suggest
you do something like

   sudo rm /etc/init.d/cups /etc/rc*/*cups
  apt-get download cups

[Bug 772445] Re: Dragging image from firefox/chrome to dock causes lagg/freeze

2012-07-03 Thread X
the screen froze for a full minute just now, I can finally find a way to
reproduce it.

1. go to a youtube video page in opera or firefox
2. start dragging a relevent video link from the sidebar

the whole screen will freeze other than the mouse, sound from the video
will still play, for exactly 1 minute.

Re: [Bug 874619] Re: Dragging windows around is slow/sluggish/laggy when multiple monitors are enabled

2012-07-03 Thread Daudi Amani
It crept in back in February after some random 11.10 update. After that,
it was awful.
I reformated disk, did a fresh (not an update) install of 12.04 .. I'm
using dual monitors twinview now without any problem. But I did the
install with just a single monitor and Unity 2D before trying twinview dual.

[Bug 1019960] Re: Intel 2200BG (Calexico2) Wifi stops after activity

2012-07-03 Thread Bryan Paddock
Sure thing.

bryan@pluto ~ $ uname -a
Linux pluto 3.5.0-030500rc5-generic #201206302035 SMP Sun Jul 1 00:43:03 UTC
2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Installed the kernel yesterday morning.

Transferred over 15GB from dev/urandom to the laptop with intel card via
netcat - worked fine.

Loaded up laptop to watch a (1.5gb) movie on XBMC and wifi stopped
again. Pings to any local/remote PC fail. Have to re-connect wifi again.

Loaded same movie in VLC, no problem.

Woke up this morning to surf - after loading up 2 webpages, wifi halts.

[Bug 1016376] Re: package cups 1.5.2-9ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-07-03 Thread Mohamed Thalib H
Hi Martin Pitt,

In the earlier posts Till Kamppeter (till-kamppeter) asked me to follow
below steps.

It seems that you still have an obsolete /etc/init.d/cups file.
Rename it into /etc/init.d/cups.old and check whether CUPS upgrades
correctly for you then.

So hence I moved the /etc/init.d/cups to /etc/init.d/cups.old and tried
update again which also failed.

I have attached the file /etc/init.d/cups.old

[Bug 1000482] Re: 404 Not Found

2012-07-03 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.
There is also a vibrant support community available at
http://askubuntu.com and you might consider asking your question there.

Your /etc/init.d/cups.old file is not a file that is provided by the
Ubuntu packages. Did you customize it in any way? Did you install cups
from a third-party source before, such as a Debian version or a self-

[Bug 1020812] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 desktop failed to shutdown when using command line

2012-07-03 Thread Wang.J.H
Public bug reported:

I have been using Ubuntu for years. I run Ubuntu on my notebook which is
Gateway T-6835. I must say that Ubuntu provides me with great
experience since 10.04, recently I have upgraded to 12.04. It works
great on my notebook though. One problem encounters me with every
version Ubuntu I have tried. The problem is that, in the graphic
environment, whenerver I tried to shutdown my computer using command
"shutdown +now" in the terminal, it always failed to. I don't if this
problem happens with other users, really hope the developer could find a
solution to this problem with next verision of Ubuntu.

[Bug 1020809] [NEW] no serial console in 3.4.0-202-omap4 #7-Ubuntu

2012-07-03 Thread Dave Cheney
Public bug reported:

Using 3.4.0-201-omap4 (from the alpha-2 sdcard image) the serial console
worked fine on my pandaboard.

On upgrading to 3.4.0-202-omap4, the last thing heard from the serial

Hi Neo -- The intent of this bug is to provide the latest bits we have
available from Cypress via Dell to cover the driver for the Cypress
touchpad.

Let's focus on the WPA Enterprise issue via the bug you filed and see
what can be done via official channels, adding fixes to this PPA before
they're appropriately triaged may cause complications of the overall
goals of this PPA.

Cheers,
Chris

[Bug 1018105] Re: Tearing in Unity with Nvidia GTX670 (vsync failure)

2012-07-03 Thread Lasse Kärkkäinen
Also occurs with other compositing managers and without any (Ubuntu 2D
and Gnome Fallback tested). The next guess would be a driver bug. A
video of the problem (Ubuntu 2D, video playback on xv, vsync for video
enabled in Nvidia Settings): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1kKaKMNRnY

I am pretty sure that this did not occur with GTX460 as I first noticed
it shortly after upgrading to GTX670.

Sorry, I meant that I deselected Launcher Capture Mouse, which was
selected by default.

[Bug 946104] Re: multimonitor: Please give me a way to turn off sticky monitor edges

2012-07-03 Thread Noah Stewart
After installing and launching Compiz Settings Manager, I chose Ubuntu
Unity Plugin under the Desktop section. Click the tab called
Experimental. At the bottom, there should be two options: Launcher
Monitors and Launcher Capture Mouse. I set the first to Primary Desktop
and the second to Launcher Capture Mouse.

It's pretty silly that you have to install compiz just to fix this
serious bug. The usability of Unity toolbar leaves a great deal to be
desired and its integration should've been postponed until it was more
mature.
