best solution would be: let apt-listchanges test if there is a terminal or not.
Should apt-listchanges added to this bug-report?

[Bug 1006860] Re: gdb crashes when loading core files (in is_ctor_or_dtor)

2012-07-09 Thread Thomas Voß
It turns out that gdb crashes as it tries to determine whether a field
of a lambda is a or ctor/dtor, given the fields name. Apparently, the
field's name is NULL and I added a check for that, bailing out and
returning 0 ("no, this is neither a dtor nor a ctor"). GDB behaves
normally when being run on the test program mentioned before. Patch is
attached, generated with quilt.

** Patch added: "gdb-fix-crash-when-checking-for-ctor-of-lambda.diff"

[Bug 549727] Re: Touchpad stops working after login

2012-07-09 Thread ethanay
this problem exists on Linux Mint 12 and 13, but for some reason is not
affecting me on Ubuntu 12.04...

unchecking "disable touchpad while typing" fixes the issue. in order to
avoid accidental clicks, you must also unceck "enable mouse clicks with
touchpad" and use the purpose-built buttons only :) (are they really
that inconvenient?)

[Bug 1020067] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 resolving hangs when querying AAAA records against BIND (Ubuntu 10.04) DNS servers

2012-07-09 Thread ICT
Hi,

** What is the exact tcpdump line you used? **

I run the following tcpdump client on the client:

**

I run nslookup gedaspw02 (gedaspw02 is a host on our local network) on
the client and I do get a response:

root@ubuntu12043:/lhome/ict# nslookup gedaspw02
Server: 172.28.16.11
Address:172.28.16.11#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: gedaspw02.a.space.corp
Address: 172.28.4.12

The corresponding tcpdump snippet:

root@ubuntu12043:/lhome/ict# tcpdump -i eth0 port 53

When I start puppet, the startup is extremely slow, which lead me to the
assumption that something with DNS is not working correctly. Here is the
tcpdump snippet when running puppet:

[Bug 1022374] Re: btrfs file system crashes with kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-3.5.0/fs/btrfs/inode.c:3758!

2012-07-09 Thread miked
This bug takes out your system start-up. Recovery did not help, nor did
using previous kernel builds. Not a good thing for a newly announced
file-system. Please let me know how to proceed. What are my options, is
it fix-able, or does it require a re-install. I was getting a sparse
file error before this latest bug, and tried a few fixes, which gave me
record fail errors. this bug appeared after leaving my system
unattended, and was on the screen when I returned. It is now the only
thing that appears on the screen after reboot. Today even less appears.
It boots to BusyBox v1.19.3 (Ubuntu1:1.19-3-7ubuntu1) (initramfs).

they are no longer there. The 32-bit plugins are provided by
  libasound2-plugins:i386 and are in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/alsa-lib.
Thus any program using the 32-bit libasound binary from lib32asound2
will fail to load any plugins (e.g., pulse).

This breaks sound for any program that loads the lib32asound2 binary,
e.g. the HIB game Lone Survivor. (Curiously though, after removing and
- re-installing lib32asound2, it loads the libasound2-plugins:i386 binary
+ re-installing lib32asound2, it loads the libasound2:i386 binary
  instead.)

Since lib32asound2 is obsoleted by libasound2:i386, some sort of upgrade
path to remove it is needed.

[Bug 1018699] Re: In formulas, matrices cannot include colors

2012-07-09 Thread Matrix Color
(Sorry for the delay in replying)

I think you misread my bug report. Perhaps I should have rephrased the
title as "In formulas, matrices cannot include the names of colors"

I was not trying to make colored text. I was trying *not* to make
colored text. Please follow my reproduction steps exactly, so that you
can see . In addition, please try entering:

[ matrix{ a # b ## c # color black red } ]

What I want is for the word "red" to appear in the matrix (in black-
colored text). What I get is a question mark.

in an uninterruptable sleep state ('D') either.

Listing all kernel and some additional processes here (removed stuff
like apache / php processes and certain publicly identifiable stuff
that's not relevant)

[Bug 1020436] Re: Cannot read superblock after FC multipath failover

2012-07-09 Thread Steve Fisher
Hi Peter,

Thanks for picking this up.

Note: I ran an 'update-initramfs -u -k all' and rebooted just for good
measure before proceeding. There's some output regarding a missing
firmware file, I'm not sure it's relevant:

root@rgrprod-pmdh-proc-03:/etc# update-initramfs -u -k all
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-41-server
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/ql8100_fw.bin for module qla2xxx

Oddly, multipathd didn't log a single thing to stderr.

[Bug 882274] Re: Community engagement is broken

2012-07-09 Thread Benjamin Kerensa
@mr.goose

We do not measure community engagement based on Distrowatch rankings and
its trivial as to whether Distrowatch rankings are good for measurement
of anything and further we do not use sensationalized tech articles to
guage whether we are heading in the right direction especially since
those same writers flip flop on how good or bad Ubuntu is every other
article.

The state of the Ubuntu Community is good and if you engaged the
Community you would know this.

I'm trying to get the install time from a package and this looks like
the only way.
Is there another way to tell what the install date from a package is?

So yes the bug is invalid then.
Thank you Dmitrijs for the comments.

William

[Bug 1022516] Re: Incorrect color output of the buttons on the webpages (google search web page) when printed from Mozilla firefox 12 and above

2012-07-09 Thread goutam kodu
Hi Till,

Thanks for your response.

In my above post there was a typo mistake with the rasterviewer. I meant
it to say rasterview. Sorry for that :(.

In the laserjet.pdd the default colourspace is Grey with which it is
giving correct output whereas if the defaultcolorspace is RGB the issue
is reproducible.

I am able to reproduce this issue using an Officejet PPD file.

Run command

$ cupsfilter -m application/vnd.cups-raster -p /usr/share/cups/model/hp-
officejet_4610_series.ppd -o "PageSize=Letter fitplot" ~/mozilla.pdf >
~/mozilla.ras

$ rasterview  ~/mozilla.ras

I am attaching you the hp-officejet_4610_series.pdd file.

[Bug 1022809] [NEW] Empathy contact list window freezes even without account

2012-07-09 Thread Leaw-ning
Public bug reported:

The empathy contact list window freezes without a reason, even though
there is no account added, and thus there is no contact list to be
loaded. The account adding window can be opened and even can connect to
facebook/msn account but the contact list just doesn't appear in the
contact list window.

[Bug 671979] Re: Repeated (spurious?) pcieport errors in logs (PCIe Bus Error)

2012-07-09 Thread Dan Kegel
I think I've recovered. I booted into rescue mode, did
  dpkg -r nvidia-current
then booted normally, updated the system, then installed nvidia-current-updates.
Happy happy joy joy, at least for now.

[Bug 791944] Please test proposed package

2012-07-09 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello dallaswv, or anyone else affected,

Accepted samba into lucid-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:3.4.7~dfsg-
1ubuntu3.11 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Grrr. The lucid-proposed upload has a bunch of unnecessary diff in the
.po files. It's all no-impact, though - ordering changes in the headers,
and slightly different word-wrap in some strings.
