[Bug 1027949] Re: Improve workspace functionality under Unity
Fully agree with the author. Unity needs to be configurable for power users. Also, I would love to see a generally more complete system configuration utility. With every Ubuntu release, the number of configurations that can be made by the user through the official configuration app decreased. For example, in 10.04, changing themes was a matter of right click -> Change appearance. In 12.04, you need to run "hack" bash scripts and install third-party applications to change themes at all. Ubuntu tries to move towards the Mac OS/Windows simplicity and obviousness. That's not necessary a good move. The OS should be easy to use for beginners - yes, however power-users should also have the opportunity to easily configure the system to their liking. That's what Linux spirit is all about! -Beboy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1027949 Title: Improve workspace functionality under Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1027949/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello, I did some further research and recognized this as an ancient issue. Partman fails under certain conditions - for example unordered partition numbers. [Bug 1029274] [NEW] "close toolbar" leaves blank space
Public bug reported: To replicate in libreoffice word: 1: Press ctrl-f or select "find" in the edit menu 2: Right-click the tab on the left of the find toolbar and select "close toolbar" I would expect the toolbar to disappear and the space to be reclaimed by the document view What actually happens is the content of the toolbar disappears but there is a blank "toolbar" which now takes up some of the space that would ideally be used for displaying the document. One workaround is to drag the toolbar out into a popup window before closing it. [Bug 1021783] Re: invalid behavior of curses.newpad().refresh()
I reported the bug because of it is wanted to fix "for Precise" (not for Quantal). I found the bug when I tried the Python3 Official HOWTO doc: - http://docs.python.org/py3k/howto/curses.html It uses newpad function. But I do not know any packages using curses.newpad() with Python3. There may be reasons: - python3 is minor than python now - curses module is minor than other standard modules: os, io, xml - newpad function is minor than essential functions for using curses: initscr, cbreak The bug is just raise error at calling the function. the fix changes from not working programs to working well. [Bug 996032] Re: Constant _ip6_config_add_nameserver: assertion `IN6_ARE_ADDR_EQUAL (nameserver, &nameservers[i]) == FALSE' failed messages in syslog
It happens ever time. My v6 nameserver is issued by an Apple Airport operating in tunnel mode. There is only a single nameserver issued and it is the address of the Airport (much as the v4 nameserver is the address of the Airport). The RA issued by the router has a single recursive DNS entry in it. I'm also seeing the Ubuntu machine issue a 'port unreachable' ICMPv6 message to any v6 DNS responses. So the Ubuntu issues DNS query to port 53 over v6. The router responds back to the UDP source port Ubuntu then issues a 'port unreachable' ICMPv6 message. I'm not seeing that on the parallel v4 query. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996032 Title: Constant _ip6_config_add_nameserver: assertion `IN6_ARE_ADDR_EQUAL (nameserver, &nameservers[i]) == FALSE' failed messages in syslog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/996032/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1029265] [NEW] X server sometimes crashes after sleep
Public bug reported: If I close the lid of the notebook without external power, it goes into sleep state. However sometimes (but not always!) after resuming, X crashes, I only see everything disappear and lightdm screen can bee seen again, with sigsegv info in kernel message buffer (dmesg) etc. Note that crash is not instant: after resuming usually I work something like half a minute before crash happens. [Bug 1029260] [NEW] spontanious system hangup
Public bug reported: I haven't completely figured out what triggers it, but quite often when I go to the following site using firefox in unity2D: http://www.ns.nl/cgi-bin/spoorkaart/spoorkaart which is flash driven map, mouse and keyboard get unresponsive. ctrl alt backspace etc do not work and I have to restart using the power button. no crash indication is given after restart. Most flash works by the way and I'm not sure if it always firefox that is causing the problem. [Bug 599105] Re: ACPI Errors and massive System Lag Acer Aspire 5735
Hi Chris, I am running LTS 10.04 on my laptop, and yes, the bug still exists...even with the latest kernel installed and running. I am presently running a patched kernel which eliminates the bug completely. The patch was found at the following bug link: #578506. After patching EC.C and a makefile I believe, I compiled my own kernel, and it's running well. Reports from users on Bug 578506 indicate the bug in question is still active even in the latest 12.04 release. I suppose you could consider this particular bug report a duplicate of 578506. However, closing this bug out as "Duplicate" certainly won't help resolve the bug. But there is a wealth of information (much of it I don't understand) in the comments of bug 578506 what clearly describe what the problem is, and how to fix it with a patch...that being said, I can't patch my kernel every time it upgrades...and I certainly can't expect my family (who I've transitioned to Ubuntu) to patch their kernels should they encounter this bug. So I'd like to see the fix incorporated into the Ubuntu code. [Bug 871985] Re: The printing panel shouldn't display errors about firewalld not running
FIREWALLD PROBLEM SOLVED ! FIXED!3 days of endless searches through forums on and off and changing configurations and it finally paid off, I figured this out on my own and everything came to life, automatically detected all my printers. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS OS install has an incorrect file name for network management. Old : /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf New: /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf The only way I found this is because I have a older computer that will only run Ubuntu 10, just happened to see that they were different. I hope this will go up to the developers so they can make changes for the next updates. So glad this was found, because I would hate to lose Ubuntu 12, other then this problem it has been one of the best OSs I have used. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/871985 Title: The printing panel shouldn't display errors about firewalld not running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/871985/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
