[Bug 855473]
Git commit 75da8e8129f6bc152a781ff47fb8e741c65b584e by David Faure. Committed on 29/11/2012 at 17:49. Pushed by dfaure into branch 'KDE/4.9'. Fix KDirLister forgetting to watch a directory after listing it from the cache. Many many thanks to Frank Reininghaus for the unittest that finally made this issue reproduceable, based on feedback from users in the bug report. The issue: whether to watch a directory with KDirWatch is refcounted. Each lister showing the dir counts as one, the cache itself can add one, and does so initially. If a dir is modified while it's only in the cache, we mark it as dirty, stop watching, and we'll simply update the directory when showing it to the user again later. At that point we need to start watching it again. The old code would do decr+incr, I "optimized" this in 7b9cafaaf6af (oct 2010) to fix the bug that (with an initial refcount of 1), decr would lead to 0 temporarily. However if the item wasn't watched anymore (initial refcount of 0), the decr would do nothing (if (c<0) c=0), and the incr would start the watching. With 7b9cafaaf6af this all went away (I thought decr+incr==noop), so no watching. The proper solution is obviously incr+decr_if_not_done_before_already (when the cache stops watching the dir because a change happened). (In reply to comment #41) I cannot reproduce this, and I have no idea if it's caused by the same problem or not. [Bug 201681] Re: Window management - Cursor position changes relative to window while dragging windows
Fix committed to lp:compiz/0.9.8 at revision 3423. scheduled for release in Compiz 0.9.8.8. Remember these are just the wall plugin fixes. The fix for the snap plugin is already in Compiz 0.9.8.0 and later. Sorry to confuse everyone with two fixes to one bug. Normally this should never happen. [Bug 1075407] Re: BCM4322 Wireless Stopped Working after 3.5.0-18.29-generic Kernel Update
I too performed the steps suggested by Subin Hutton, after the recent Ubuntu-suggested-kernel-update. So, when I check my kernel (with the "uname -a" command), I now get: Linux 3.5.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 13 17:48:01 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Subin's suggestions were a successful work-around for me (with my BCM4322) too. [Bug 1085795] [NEW] i lost my fedora partition after updating 12.10 ubuntu
Public bug reported: I updated my ubuntu 12.10, twice the updating has lost my fedora partition, even though the fedora partion shows up in my files in the unity taskbar. The fedora is the beefy miracle edition. The partition also shows up in gparted application. The offending update was around the 28th or 29th of November, 2012. I have it show details as it updates, it shows sudo-update grub, it is then that the fedora partition is lost. I tried sudo update grub afterwards but I have to remount the fedora partition later. [Bug 1085791] [NEW] When pulling a window from docking mouse is drawn off window title.
Public bug reported: When you pull of the dock a Window that's is docked either on the left or right half of the screen. At the moment the window recovers the previous size before it was docked the mouse is not kept over the title bar of the window. To recreate this bug: 1. Take any maximize capable window. 2. Grab it by the title bar. 3. Drag it to the far right of the window causing the preview rectangle to show up and drop the window so it docks on the right half of the screen. 4. Grab the window by the title bar again. 5. Pull it of to the center of the screen. When you complete these steps, the window will re-size back to the normal size it had before you docked it to the half right. But the mouse will be in an odd position and not where it should be. I expected the mouse to stick to the same position relative to that window. If you need more detail and/or a screen capture video of the bug let me know. [Bug 1063690] Re: Unredirect fullscreen windows should be the default for optimal performance
Daniel: Sorry, but what would be the point of linking Totem to a bug that's marked Won't Fix? I'm now convinced that "Unredirect fullscreen windows" should not be enabled by default because, as reported above, it causes a major regression in the functionality of Totem, Flash, and VLC/OpenGL on Intel and apparently the Nvidia proprietary driver. Totem, as Ubuntu's default player, should work out of the box for as many users as possible. [Bug 806291] Re: [needs-packaging] Boot-Repair pre-installed in ISOs
I was pointed towards boot-repair because grub wasn't able to install itself to my SSD (/dev/sdb)... I planned on choosing whether to boot into Windows 7 on an Intel motherboard fakeraid raid10 array or Mint Linux by using my BIOS to choose boot priority rather than permanently using Grub to choose which OS to boot. Mint install was successful other than the grub bootloader install, and I tried to install grub manually when the automated install process failed. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work manually, either. Once I was informed of the existence of boot-repair, I booted the Mint livecd (usb stick via iso+unetbootin, actually) and installed the Ubuntu boot-repair ppa and boot-repair. Using a custom configuration to make sure that grub was only installed to the SSD, I ran boot-repair. It gave me some instructions to follow and once everything was done Grub had been successfully installed only to the SSD. Now I can boot Mint from the SSD. This tool should be included on every Debian-based Live CD... or at least Debian, Ubuntu, and Mint Linux. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/806291 Title: [needs-packaging] Boot-Repair pre-installed in ISOs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/boot-repair/+bug/806291/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1085783] [NEW] Kernel Panic
Public bug reported: I've reproduced this bug on two systems (same make/model) I can reproduce this kernel panic by doing the following (from a fresh kubuntu install) 1.) Home directories are NFS-mounted (SSO with kerberos & LDAP) $ apt-get build-dep zeroc-ice $ apt-get source zeroc-ice $ cd zeroc-ice-3.4.2 $ dpkg-buildpackage very shortly after running dpkg-buildpackage (somewhere between the patches being applied to the source and compilation begins (I'm not seeing the typical output of ./configure) the system crashes with a kernel panic. I hooked up a serial cable & dumped the console to it, so I could catch the crash, and the output is below. Additional: I installed http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v3.6.3-quantal/linux- image-3.6.3-030603-generic_3.6.3-030603.201210211349_amd64.deb (and its headers). The 3.6.3 kernel runs without issues, and I've been unable to reproduce the crash. So it seems likely that the problem is with the 3.5.0-19-generic kernel package.
