[Bug 1033727] Re: USB passthrough doesn't work anymore with qemu-kvm 1.1.1
Just confirming the bug. I'm having the same issues with the same USB smart card reader as the submitter (Kobil mIDentity) on Debian Squeeze using the qemu-kvm version 1.2.0 from debian-backports. Going back to 1.0 fixes the problem (http://snapshot.debian.org/package/qemu- kvm/1.0%2Bdfsg-8~bpo60%2B1). [Bug 1033727] Re: USB passthrough doesn't work anymore with qemu-kvm 1.1.1
Referring to my last comment: The URL does only work if you add a backslash at the end, sorry about that. One last note: In Germany, the Kobil USB Reader is/was supplied by DATEV (see http://www.datev.com/) to their members/partners. It would be better if you could upload this bug info with apport-collect and that will get a full set of diagnostic logs. You might also want to install the -dbgsym package ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash ) that will get a much more detailed backtrace if you can't upload the crash logs directly. [Bug 808589] Re: gpa crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast()
Same for me. Runnig Xubuntu 12.10 Quantal. According to this discussion thay are facing the same problem in debian sid and FreeBSD 9. You might understand more of it then I do. And they are providing a workaround that worked for me. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=634930 * WORKAROUND ** I have found that the problem is the expired X.509 certificates. Here is my easy workaround to solve this bug. 1. Remove the file where the X.509 certificates are stored. rm usr/share/gnupg2/com-certs.pem 2. Remove your gnupg configuration folder. rm home/benutzer/.gnupg/ That's all. Should work for every version. Enjoy. * I hope it helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/808589 Title: gpa crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gpa/+bug/808589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1066467] Re: Suspend/Resume regression from 3.2.0-31 to 3.2.0-32
Upgraded to BIOS (R4070Y0) on Sony Vaio VGN-FW57GH. It is not yet conclusive, but it seems that this did not resovle the problem. With 3.7.1 a suspend/resume cycle still resulted in instablity and no useful logs beyond the point of suspend. Unfortunately, and I'm not sure if is related to the BIOS change, but I am now also having problems with window focus switching and clicking of window manage controls (e.g. close) etc. Additionally Alt-Tab work intermittently, but generally does not bring up the task switcher. I am now trying to install 12.10 to see if I this resolves the windowing issue, and then I will return to confirming if the BIOS upgrade helps. As a question: The BIOS now presents the VT option which can be enabled. Should this be enabled if no VMMs are likely to use it? Or, for the purposes of this testing should this be left disabled in the BIOS? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066467 Title: Suspend/Resume regression from 3.2.0-31 to 3.2.0-32 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1066467/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1094345] Re: order of resolvers always prefers IPv4
My apologies: my suggestion was based on the obviously mistaken assumption that you had specified nameserver addresses in /etc/network/interfaces whereas in fact you are using DHCP clients to get those addresses. DHCP clients register nameserver information with resolvconf using other record name suffixes than ifup itself uses. Ifup uses the suffix inet for the inet address family and inet6 for the inet6 address family. You wrote: iface eth0 inet6 auto dhcp 1 iface eth0 inet dhcp When you ifup eth0 with the inet dhcp configuration, dhclient registers nameserver information with the dhclient suffix. I have never used inet6 auto and my home router doesn't do IPv6 DHCP so I can't easily investigate this aspect of your configuration. Please ifup eth0 and post the output of ls -l /run/resolvconf/interface for F in /run/resolvconf/interface/* ; do echo === $F === ; cat $F ; done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1094345 Title: order of resolvers always prefers IPv4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/1094345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1094446] [NEW] failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED and interface fatal errors
Public bug reported: I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 server on my Zotac IONITX Board but I am getting a lot of errors related to my SATA controller. Sometimes the system partition is remounted read-only after a reboot. I replaced my OCZ Onyx SSD with a new Crucial 64GB M4 and reinstalled the system again. But the errors are still there. Errors like failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED, I/O error, dev sdb, SError: { Dispar BadCRC }... are not restricted to the SSD. The also appear at the SATA port where my Seagate hard disk is connected to. One of the last errors is: end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 355383583 but if I run sudo e2fsck -f /dev/sdb1 everythings seems to be ok. Just now all was fine. Then I did a sudo apt-get install iasl acpidump and after that the root file systems was remounted read only and the syslog is filled with: == [...] Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.259230] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253944 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.259661] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253945 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.260134] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253946 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.260576] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253947 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.261006] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253948 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.261438] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253949 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.261864] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253950 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.262297] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 253951 Dec 29 11:39:48 nas kernel: [32061.262731] EXT4-fs warning (device sda1): ext4_end_bio:250: I/O error writing to inode 2102075 (offset 16252928 size 524288 starting block 254208) === ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: linux-image-3.5.0-21-generic 3.5.0-21.32 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-21.32-generic 3.5.7.1 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-21-generic x86_64 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.25. [Bug 1019863] Re: Occasional ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and Intel D815EEA2 mainboard ACPI S3 State Resume Freeze
Hi Christopher, I don't have access to this mainboard for 2 more weeks due to travel, but before I departed, I tested the board with a different set of PC133 SDRAM DIMMs. Interestingly, it did not cause a freeze with these DIMM modules. I put my computer into standby about 10 times, and the computer came out of standby 10 times in a row. I ran Firefox on the background to put more stress on the system. Based on my judgement, it seems like with the previous DIMM modules, the DRAM is getting corrupted after coming out of ACPI S3 State. It seems like the slow refresh mode is not working properly on at least one of the previous DIMM module. By the way, with the previous DIMM modules, they do pass Memtest86+ without any errors, but I have learned from my experience troubleshooting PC related problems so often that some bad DIMM modules do cause memory cell corruption if the DIMM modules enter slow refresh mode. The memory cell corruption issue manifests itself after waking up the computer after the contents of the memory is corrupted. For the previous DIMM modules used, it was something like this, - PNY PC133 256MB module (DS) - generic PC133 128MB module (SS, Micron Technology DRAM chip) - generic PC133 128MB module (SS) generic DIMM module means it is not obvious from the DIMM that who manufactured the DIMM. For the configuration that didn't cause any issues, this was the configuration. - Toshiba PC133 256MB module (DS, Toshiba DRAM chip) - Toshiba PC133 256MB module (DS, Toshiba DRAM chip) SS means Single Sided. DS means Double Sided. I do have more PC133 SDRAM DIMMs so I will test the mainboard with more DIMMs to see if this bug is specific to one bad module. I will update the above list when I get back. At this point, it is increasingly likely that a bad DIMM this mysterious bug. If this is the case, I am very sorry for wasting the resources of the Linux developers, but unfortunately, it is often difficult to catch slow refresh related memory cell corruption hardware failures. Memtest86+ does not have the means to catch this kind of problem, and I have seen this type of bug with a DDR SDRAM DIMM a few months ago. [Bug 1094451] [NEW] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad right-click does not work on Samsung NP900X4C, 12.04
Public bug reported: I have two identical spec NP900X4C laptops. On one I installed 12.10, on the other 12.04. On 12.10 the touchpad works fine, including right-click. On 12.04 the touchpad works fine, EXCEPT for right-click. The standard settings options do not correct this problem. I tried following the Enabling right button click instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection however the enable- rightbutton.sh script bailed out claiming the right-click area was not defined. The issue is also simpler than the mixture of problems reported at https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933707 I therefore used xinput list-props on both devices to compare the settings for the touchpad. I discovered that on 12.04 Synaptics Soft Button Areas is set to all 0s, whereas on 12.10 it has specific settings. I therefore applied the following command and the right-button immediately worked fine. I opened this bug so that the correct setting for this model of touchpad can be included in the standard 12.04 package. xinput set-prop device-id property-id 1630, 0, 1871, 0, 0, 0, 0,0 Kernel version: 3.2.0-35-generic xserver-xorg-input-synaptics version: 1.6.2-1ubuntu1~precise2 Touchpad spec from /proc/input/bus/devices: I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=000e Version= N: Name=ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0 S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input6 U: Uniq= H: Handlers=mouse0 event6 B: PROP=5 B: EV=b B: KEY=e420 1 0 0 0 0 B: ABS=66180001103 ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1094451 Title: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad right-click does not work on Samsung NP900X4C, 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1094451/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1087519] Re: Serial port ttyS4 doesn't work in 12.04
are you sure the modem is awake (as in, no software magic or no bios needs to wake it up)? that modem has firmware that can be updated; do you have the latest? what happens if you send a regular hayes command to the modem, for example: escape, speaker always on, volume up and a pause (to hear a line)? $ echo '+++'/dev/ttyS4 $ echo ATM2L3/dev/ttyS4 $ echo ATD/dev/ttyS4 do you now hear a dialtone (i am assuming it has a speaker)? it's a usrobotics; i remember these had a slightly different command stack in the eighties and the nineties. but it should take standard hayes command nevertheless. the usr.com page doens't list a datasheet... from your dmesg: [ 1.365228] :04:01.0: ttyS4 at I/O 0xd000 (irq = 17) is a 16550A this looks like a serial port, not like a fax/modem. do you have anything else in your dmesg that points to a modem? what does lspci tells you? try sudo lspci -vvvk and see if the modem is listed to post the traces: they should be written to files automatically, just post these as attachments? make sure you do a trace of your problem (sending a fax): -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1087519 Title: Serial port ttyS4 doesn't work in 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1087519/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1066467] Re: Suspend/Resume regression from 3.2.0-31 to 3.2.0-32
Stewart Gebbie, regarding your comments https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1066467/comments/36 : Upgraded to BIOS (R4070Y0) on Sony Vaio VGN-FW57GH. It is not yet conclusive, but it seems that this did not resovle the problem. With 3.7.1 a suspend/resume cycle still resulted in instablity and no useful logs beyond the point of suspend. Could you please test for this in the newest mainline kernel http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8-rc1-raring/ ? Unfortunately, and I'm not sure if is related to the BIOS change, but I am now also having problems with window focus switching and clicking of window manage controls (e.g. close) etc. Additionally Alt-Tab work intermittently, but generally does not bring up the task switcher. I am now trying to install 12.10 to see if I this resolves the windowing issue, and then I will return to confirming if the BIOS upgrade helps. Just to clarify, this report is only about your suspend issue. If you have another bug to report, feel free to create a another report, one for each issue. For more on this, please see the Ubuntu Kernel team article: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Filing_Kernel_Bug_reports the Ubuntu Bug Control team and Ubuntu Bug Squad team article: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue and Ubuntu Community article: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it. ?As a question: The BIOS now presents the VT option which can be enabled. Should this be enabled if no VMMs are likely to use it? As this is a development bug report, and not a support forum, if you have support questions, you are welcome to seek support via www.ubuntu.com/support Or, for the purposes of this testing should this be left disabled in the BIOS? You are welcome to enable it. However, which ever you choose, keep it that way for the duration of this bug report.
