[Bug 1100787] Re: Samba 3.6.3 segfault or panic.

2013-02-13 Thread Robie Basak
For apport-collect, try running:
https_proxy=http://1.2.3.4:5678/ apport-collect 1100787

If your proxy needs authentication, then:
https_proxy=http://username:password@1.2.3.4:5678/ apport-collect 1100787

(change 1.2.3.4:5678 to your proxy IP address and port number of course)

[Bug 1100787] Re: Samba 3.6.3 segfault or panic.

2013-02-13 Thread Matt Foggin
I tried the commands above, first using the proxy's domain name, then with it's
IP address but I still get the same error.
ERROR: connecting to Launchpad failed: [Errno 110] Connection timed out

Running env | grep proxy shows the proxy is set correctly.

Looking at the other proxy's logs, it doesn't even look like it's trying
to use the proxy.

Back to the actual crash bug...
I decided to install the debug symbols for libtdb and it looks like the signal
handler gets called in __memmove_sse2.
Stack trace is posted below.

I also managed to get Winbind running under Valgrind but it didn't crash
for the 2 days that I had it running. I'll attach the valgrind log to
this post anyway in ccase there's any useful info in it.

I've also setup another proxy server on the same ESXi host using Ubuntu
12.10. Settings are more or less identical to the 12.04 proxy, only
thing that's different are the package versions. So far it hasn't had
any problems at all.

libtdb-dbg stack trace:

[Bug 1123973] Re: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php5/20090626/mysqlnd.so'

2013-02-13 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Once you have responded with this information, please change the bug
status back to New. Thanks!

[Bug 1119248] Re: [SRU] nova does not set container_format when snapshotting instance with ref image deleted

2013-02-13 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Thanks for your work on this! debian/changelog has a version of
2012.1.4+stable-20121217-9f277e38-0ubuntu2 against precise-proposed, but
this version is not in the archive. Your patch should be against
2012.1.3+stable-20120827-4d2a4afe-0ubuntu1.1 (what is currently in
precise-security/precise-updates).

Otherwise the patch looks fine. Can you adjust this and mention your
testing results after patching 2012.1.3+stable-20120827-4d2a4afe-
0ubuntu1.1?

Thanks!

[Bug 1029430] Re: KVM guests networking issues with no virbr0 and with vhost_net kernel modules loaded

2013-02-13 Thread Scott Moser
For reference, it seems like devstack running on 3.3 or later kernel
will see this. I found it running on quantal:

adam_g smoser: devstack doesn't configure its networks as multi_host. my fix
only addresses the issue for multi_host networks, where its assumed the dhcp
server is alwasy running on the same host as compute
adam_g smoser: devstack that just happens to be the case, but its not
multihost
adam_g smoser: anyway, the workaround is to jus rmmod vhost_net or add the
iptables mangle rule described in that bug

So specifically for devstack:
 rmmod vhost_net
or
[ -e /dev/vhost-net ]
 sudo iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o br100 -p udp -m udp --dport 68
-j CHECKSUM --checksum-fill

[Blueprint servercloud-r-qemu] QEMU plans for R

2013-02-13 Thread Serge Hallyn
Blueprint changed by Serge Hallyn:

Whiteboard changed:
  User Stories:
  N/A

  Risks:

  None

  Test Plans:

The qrt qemu tests are to be run before every upload.

  Release Note:
  1. The qemu and qemu-kvm sources have been merged. Some of the kvm command
line usage therefore has changed. For instance, '-enable-kvm' must be
specified rather than being implied. (List of changes to come here)
  2. Transparent hugepages are now supported. The performance gains of
hugepages in kvm will be automatically realized when available.

  Notes:

The {qemu-kvm,qemu-linaro}-qemu switch does not require MIR'ing the
binary packages which migrated from qemu-linaro. We can look at that,
but it's low priority unless someone (independently) requires qemu-user
etc in main. The work item was in case somehow it was required for this
switch. As it is not, I dropped the WI.
+
+ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029430 shows that vhost_net is not safe
+ to be automatically loaded everywhere.

the lxc-infos being hung. I've tried to reproduce with the script below

if [ $(id -u) -ne 0 ]; then

echo give name of container to play with as arg 1

[Bug 1124384] Re: cloud-init parses yaml incorrectly

2013-02-13 Thread Scott Moser
The issue here is really that /tmp is getting cleaned after the above runs.
Then, the test harness is going looking for the file, but its long gone.

I'm not sure if its specifically a bug or not to rely on runcmd running after
/tmp cleaning has run. but it does seem like /tmp is being cleaned dangerously
late in the boot process, given that runcmd is happening via cloud-config.conf
at
start on (filesystem and started rsyslog)

At what point in boot is it safe to put files in /tmp (even temporary
files) and assume that they will not be deleted by 'mounted-tmp' ?

[Bug 1124384] Re: cloud-init parses yaml incorrectly

2013-02-13 Thread Steve Langasek
'mounted' events are handled synchronously in mountall, and the
'filesystem' isn't emitted until they're all done. Prelim tests seem to
confirm that this is working correctly (and if it wasn't that would be a
very bad bug, that I think we would have caught before now).

In a test instance from smoser, I've confirmed that a file touched
directly by /etc/init/cloud-config.conf persists, whereas a file touched
from within /var/lib/cloud/instance/scripts/runcmd is not created. As
I'm not really familiar with the cloud-init architecture I can't
effectively debug this further, but it's definitely not mountall causing
the issue.

[Bug 1124649] [NEW] autofs updates should do a ldconfig after restarting autofs

2013-02-13 Thread Francis Bacon
Public bug reported:

Since it is possible to have ldconfig paths that are controlled by autofs,
and since autofs turns itself off in the Preparing to replace... phase of an

it is possible that other upgrad packages being run in the same upgrade as

[Bug 1037055] Re: winbind does not refresh kerberos tickets

2013-02-13 Thread styro
I've done some testing on machines with and without the new packages.

Conclusion: I think things have improved with the new packages.

More details:

It is hard to tell for sure as there are various things (eg using sudo,
or unlocking the desktop etc) other than winbind that will refresh the
Ticket Granting Ticket (TGT) and update/recreate the credentials cache.
This can mask the original problem.

I managed to shorten the Active Directory ticket lifetimes (1 hour) and
renewal periods (1 day) to the minimum to speed up testing. But after
this I noticed that tickets were no longer being renewed at all, and
expired tickets would stay in the credentials cache breaking
authentication. This was worse than the original problem.

On a machine without the updates installed, the original problem was
still happening even with the shorter ticket lifetimes. ie the
credentials cache and Ticket Granting Ticket disappearing before the TGT
reached it's renewal time limit. This problem never happened with the
updated packages though.

Suspecting that the expired ticket problem was caused by the extremely
short ticket lifetimes, I extended Active Directory ticket settings to
5hr expiry and 2 day renewal periods. This has slowed down testing a
bit, but seems to have made that new expired ticket problem go away. ie
tickets are now renewing properly again, and I haven't noticed the cache
disappearing before the TGTs renewal period was up.

So - things do seem improved with the new packages (provided stupidly
short ticket lifetimes aren't in use). The problem I encountered with
very short lifetimes is unrelated to this bug report.

But without a reliable way to reproduce the original problem, I still
can't be 100% certain that absence of evidence (not seeing the bug so
far) equates to evidence of absence (the bug has been fixed).

[Bug 1124728] Re: openbsd-inetd does not crossbuild

2013-02-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
The attachment openbsd-inetd_0.20091229-2ubuntu2-crossfix.patch of
this bug report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a
debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report
so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event
that this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by
removing the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment
so that it is not flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member
of the ubuntu-sponsors team please also unsubscribe the team from this
bug report.

[Bug 1115053] Re: Multiple open vulnerabilities in tomcat7 in 12.04 and 11.10

2013-02-13 Thread Christian Kuersteiner
Jamie,

Thanks for the info. There is a fix for CVE-2012-2733 for tomcat7 from
upstream (see
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revisionrevision=1350301).

Did you see the new debdiff for oneiric in comment #5? All the fixes for
the CVEs I am aware of should be in it (as well CVE-2012-2733). Please
let me know if the changelog is okay like that and of course if there
are any other improvements/changes I should make. As soon as that one is
approved I will upload the precise debdiff.

Thanks

2013-02-13 Thread Aleksander Morgado
I think it should be fine to include MM 07; I'll talk to Dan to see if
we can have a release at some point in the near future. Regarding the
regression potential, yes, there is some, as in every new release of
everything :) Allowing a fallback to MM 0.6 (i.e. keeping libmm-glib
installed but falling back to MM 0.6) should at least make it easier for
users to go back while the bugs, if any, get fixed in MM 0.7.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

apachelogger version+2 needs to be released for a release to go EOL upstream
apachelogger shadeslayer: it was not EOL at the time
shadeslayer and we discovered this issue in the first 4.10 release IIRC
apachelogger it only went EOL like 2 weeks ago :S
apachelogger shadeslayer: nope
apachelogger that should have been .9
shadeslayer oh
shadeslayer hm
shadeslayer fine, patch it

applying the master changes should be the more durable fix, however
reverting to the .2 version also should nicely resolve the presented
issue. at any rate the .sort() call needs to go away as that breaks
kde's resource order.

[Bug 1117499] Re: killall -9 firefox fails to work in raring

2013-02-13 Thread madbiologist
This bug can be reproduced on a system without the Adobe Flash plugin
installed by using Firefox to watch a YouTube video or some other online
video. It will crash fairly soon due to bug #1085342. The likelyhood of
crashing is possibly higher if using Firefox 18.0.1 due to JavaScript
related stability issues which are fixed in Firefox 18.0.2. Attempting
to relaunch Firefox after the crash usually results in a Firefox is
already running error, and attempting to kill -9 the Firefox process
does nothing. If you kill -9 the (phantom) MediaDecode process the
Firefox process will be killed as well and you can then relaunch
Firefox.

[Bug 862684] Re: rtl8192cu fails to connect randomly and drops connections on WPA/WPA2 PSK

2013-02-13 Thread David Pérez
These problem appears in nearly all the Linux distros I've tried.
The optimal solution would be to include the Realtek driver with the Linux
kernel.
It's a little cumbersome to have to recompile the driver each time the Linux
kernel gets updated.
Also, withy some distros like KUbuntu, the gcc compiler isn't included, and
cannot be easliy downloaded as the Wifi isn't working.

[Bug 498911] Re: nspluginwrapper fills .xsession-errors until disk space is exhausted

2013-02-13 Thread keyneom
@konaya I just wrote a post in the forums of what I found to be the root
cause of this issue. In my logs it appeared as if what caused the log
file to grow so large was a brute-force attack. The log filling up is a
result of the failed attempts to authenticate to your system's VNC
server. After a certain number of failed attempts it appears as if the
VNC server just starts rejecting the attempted connections without
giving them a chance to authenticate (which is good). Luckily, if these
are still happening then most likely they haven't hacked you yet. Check
out my post if you are interested.

[Bug 1019863] Re: Occasional ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and Intel D815EEA2 mainboard ACPI S3 State Resume Freeze

2013-02-13 Thread fpgahardwareengineer
Hi,

I have not commented on this bug for some time, but I will like to provide the
final analysis so that it can be closed up for good.
After not seeing any crashes/freezes when I used Toshiba 256 MB SDRAM modules
(Toshiba module with Toshiba DRAM devices), I tried playing around with
different combinations of the original 2 (two) 128 MB SDRAM modules and 1 (one)
256 MB SDRAM module.
It turns out one of the no brand 128 MB SDRAM module with Mosel Vitelic DRAM
devices seems to cause crashes/freezes when I put the computer into ACPI S3
State and wake it up.
It appears that the self refresh mode of this 128 MB SDRAM module with Mosel
Vitelic DRAM device causes memory content corruption, and this leads Ubuntu to
freeze/crash at some point (i.e., After putting the computer in and out of ACPI
S3 State so many times.).
Just for the record, the marking of the DRAM device says V54C3128804VAT7 with a
date code 0213 (13th week of 2002).
I assume I just got a bad memory module.
I didn't notice this until now, and insisted that memtest86+ didn't catch
any memory read/write error, but if I think about it, memtest86+ is powerless
as a tool against this type of a failure is because it doesn't have the means
to put the memory into self refresh mode and bring it out to check the content
of the memory array.
While this case is specific to SDRAM, this type of failure can occur on any
DRAM type since SDRAM because all of them now have self refresh mode.
So if there is anyone reading this analysis, remember that the memory array can
get corrupted if for some reason self refresh mode no longer works correctly
(i.e., due to aging), and this can lead to seemingly random crashes/freezes
after waking the computer up from ACPI S3 State.
I know that this case is already closed and I am now happy to finally close
this case as well.

Regards,

fpgahardwareengineer

Press the button and it can be restarted, with both working .

I have been putting up for it for a good while, possibly since Kubuntu

fixed, and test any updates.

[Bug 1123789] Re: onboard.convert causes gsettings-data-convert to crash

2013-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks Jim, could you provide some details:
- what's the stdout/stderr output of gsettings-data-convert? have a gdb
backtrace or the name of the key it's complaining about would be useful
- what version of Ubuntu did you upgrade from? the other bugs linked to this
one in launchpad and upstream mention skipping releases on upgrade, which is
not a supported scenario (and should be the case of few users in practice, even
if that's still an issue)
- is that a new issue? it's weird that with precise out for almost a year we
didn't hear about it before

[Bug 893828] Re: Granting Wireshark capture privileges does not allow USB capture

2013-02-13 Thread Stefan Tauner
Similar arguments can be brought up against allowing a user to capture
network traffic. So arguing against it - at least if there were a fine-
grained option in the kernel - is not convincing, especially if it is
disabled by default as the network privilege is ATM. And if there were
such a capability then it would be obviously safer and better to run
wireshark as non-root if you have to capture USB packets, which isn't
too uncommon for hardware developers (I am in that situation right now
;). Hence this is *not* an opinion but a bug (not only in wireshark, but
also/mainly in the kernel). Did anybody know what the kernel guys think
about adding a finer-grained capability for this? I won't reopen the bug
for now mainly because it does not make sense, if the Debian (and an
Ubuntu) maintainer just not agrees with the above :) I encourage you to
do so and add the kernel though.

Version : 11.2.0.1527
RAID Levels : raid0 raid1 raid10 raid5
Chunk Sizes : 4k 8k 16k 32k 64k 128k
Max Disks : 6
Max Volumes per array : 2
Max Volumes per controller: 4
2TB Volumes: supported
  2TB Disks: supported
 I/O Controller : /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1f.2 (SATA)
  Port2 : /dev/sdc (WD-WCAVY7369087)
  Port1 : /dev/sdb (EL125500W6120CGN)
  Port0 : /dev/sda (WD-WMC1T1652582)
  Port3 : /dev/sdd (WD-WCAVY7369135)
  Port4 : - no device attached -
  Port5 : - no device attached -

RAID can be assembled using the imsm conatiner, BUT it does not get
resammbled automaticaly upon boot and is considered degraded and has to
be rebuild, thus is not usable right now.

There's support coming into debian for IMSM Raid on installer level, maybe
useable in ubuntu too.
