[Bug 1089342] Re: Postfix uses temporary IPv6 address for outbound connections

2013-06-09 Thread John Kim
Updated the description with link to the possible page of concern.

The serverguide for saucy doesn't have postfix.page. Has it been
dropped deliberately?

** Also affects: serverguide
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

+ Refer to https://help.ubuntu.com/13.04/serverguide/postfix.html
+
By default IPv6 privacy extensions is installed on Ubuntu server and
  temporary addresses are preferred.

This means that outgoing connections from Postfix will use the temporary
IPv6 addresses, which will likely fail reverse DNS checks and cause mail
  to bounce.

Postfix should implement the requirements of RFC5014 and ensure that it
sets the IPV6_PREFER_SRC_PUBLIC IPv6 socket option (or possibly provide
a configuration option to enforce that requirement).

[Bug 1189083] [NEW] Make Preferences button work in IBus Preferences

2013-06-09 Thread Ma Xiaojun
Public bug reported:

This bug is specific to Raring as we can introduce newer upstream
version in Saucy.

The fix is simple, backport a patch from upstream
https://github.com/bochecha/ibus-cangjie/commit/a85d297bb395f38c4ec5022acc6d641a695b4ab4.patch

It adds setup tags to the XML files so ibus-setup can find them.

[Bug 1158161] Re: [regression] Unmaximized windows can't be closed, minimized, moved

2013-06-09 Thread Sami Jaktholm
This bug is about unmaximized windows having click-trough decorations.
If you really see click-trough decorations on unmaximized or user-
maximized windows, this bug is not fixed. I have personally tested this
with both trunk and raring version of compiz and this bug does not exist
there, with or without Unity.

Now, then there's bug 1158267. If the following points apply, that's the bug
you're seeing:
1) You use a non-Unity session
2) The application with click-trough decorations is _started_ maximized
(started is is the important part here)

That's a corner case with a fix available in lp:~mar-kolya/compiz/fix-
for-1158267. However, that fix is currently blocked on lack of proper
test suite for the decor plugin. Once the decor has a test suite in
place (bug 1188900), we can be more certain that the fix doesn't cause
new regressions and it's ready to go in.

[Bug 775434] Re: Keyboard shortcut - Make Unity keyboard shortcuts configurable

2013-06-09 Thread Rob King
There's also the issue that not all keyboards have a Windows or Super
key - the classic IBM 101 key layout for example. You can still buy
keyboards (USB keyboards!) with this layout. Not being able to remap the
launcher/dash keyboard shortcut basically means I don't use it and don't
get any of the benefits.

[Bug 1093217] Re: Ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04 10-20min boot delay (From 3.2.0.29-3.8.0.19) [Lenovo IdeaPad Z580]

2013-06-09 Thread jdean...@gmail.com
Matthew,

This blog post details the steps quite well:
http://www.askmeaboutlinux.com/?p=2336

Though the final step of editing grub.cfg was slightly different for me.
I added the 'acpi=' as per #112 here.

[Bug 1178897] Re: [Asus W7J] No sound on laptop

2013-06-09 Thread Purus
I managed to compile the kernel with FIXUP_FSC_AMILO_PI1505, it didn't
resolve the issue.

Takashi's still helping me. I used HDAAnalyzer to figure out which pins
affected audio and now I need to use hda-verb to set some values and see
if it fixes audio. It's tedious but gives me something to do.

[Bug 1189095] [NEW] gedit IBUS-WARNING - The owner of .. /.config/ibus/bus is not root!

2013-06-09 Thread markling
Public bug reported:

This is ubuntu-bug report and further info is meant to be added to another bug,
but Launchpad could not find it by even a part of its title (odd name must have
thown it): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/1125944 -
(gedit:3366): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/oem/.config/ibus/bus is not
root!

Issue occured for me in very specific circumstances: attempt to run two
sudo gedit commands running simultaneously. The second failed with the
error: (gedit:3214): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of
/home/username/.config/ibus/bus is not root!

It failed in the sense that gedit did not open.

It may have been significant that a related command was already running
in another terminal (xfce4-terminal 0.6.1) window: sudo iptables -L
iptables_rules_.txt

This comand takes a while to chug through its output. So gedit, or
whatver, was already occupied.

While that was happening, I had issued another sudo gedit command in
another terminal window: sudo gedit /etc/firewall.bash

It was that comand reported the above-quoted error.

The failed sudo gedit command was resissued after the first had
finished. Gedit opened the (new) file this time. It appeared, in other
words, to have worked. It nevertheless repeated the error:
(gedit:3301): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of
/home/username/.config/ibus/bus is not root!. The file meanwhile, was
edited and saved without a problem.

[Bug 1125944] Re: (gedit:3366): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/oem/.config/ibus/bus is not root!

2013-06-09 Thread Ma Xiaojun
The reason for this bug is that when you start gedit or so IM module
from IBus got loaded. As you do sudo, the user of IM module would be
root.

However, the ibus-daemon is started by the normal user in most cases,
which would create ~/.config/ibus/bus if it doesn't exists.

IIRC, this is the limitation of current D-Bus technology that two
processes having different user (uid) cannot communicate. The warning is
just the superfacial representation of it.

[Bug 1189102] [NEW] Nautilus is left behind the opened window as the app haven't been started

2013-06-09 Thread Хаджиев
Public bug reported:

I drop a folder over the VLC icon in the Unity laucher. VLC started and
the audio files in the folder started playing. However, if you click the
Nautilus launcher icon, the program is started again as if it hasn't
been started before. If you minimize all the other windows (the VLC one
and the new Nautilus one), you'll find out that the first Nautilus

[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-06-09 Thread Johann Gail
Either this fix isn't complete or I have a similar problem.

On my fast hardware (a Clevo W370ET with SSD and a quad core i7) I
observe the same effects. Even after updating to latest versions I get
the fault. I'm running raring (XUbuntu 13.04).

I observe at 50% of booting a black screen with a blinking cursor and a
mousepointer. I can switch to a terminal console and by entering the
command sudo service lightdm restart I get a running graphical
session.

Also the workaround at comment #5, inserting a sleep 1 in lightdm.conf
does help. But I doesn't like the idea of solving a race condition by
inserting some sleep. Especially on a fast booting ssd notebook.

Should I open a new bug report or should I continue tis one?

[Bug 1062399] Re: empathy status 'offline' in messaging menu when set as startup app

2013-06-09 Thread Ján Neščivera
I just found a simple workaround for this issue. If empathy autostart is
delayed just for a second it is sufficient for messaging menu to be set up with
correct status. So I edited ~/.config/autostart/empathy.desktop and appended
following line:
X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=1
which causes 1 second delay of empathy autostart and thats enough for messaging
menu to be synchronized.

[Bug 1189104] [NEW] problem no sound ALC260 with Kernel 3.5.0.18

2013-06-09 Thread ludovic
Public bug reported:

Hello,
My english is not very good.
I'm running UBUNTU 12.4.2 and after upgrade : i have a kernel 3.5.0.18
I have a problem with my ALC260 sound card on my laptop: just before enter
tty1 or there my login and password, I mean a Rattle.
And once in my session after you type startx, I have no sound. So if I
resume the old kernel, I have no problem of sound.
I think it should be a problem of compiling kernel
I would like to have documentation on how to compile the kernel to help solve
the problem
  can you help me
  thank you

[Bug 1189107] [NEW] USB Soundcard is not detected everytime, especially on resume from suspend

2013-06-09 Thread lol24h
Public bug reported:

Creative X-Fi USB seems not to be detected correctly. First time there's
no possiblity to change output type to 5.1 (no menu in control center).
After detaching and hooking up again it was not there. The third time I
was able to detect it.

It might be something to do with kernel.

I have such information in dmesg:

[Bug 1189115] [NEW] Sound control lacks surround upmix tick and default card choice

2013-06-09 Thread lol24h
Public bug reported:

There should be ability to disable upmix from stereo to surround (i.e.
5.1) sound in gnome-control-center.

I needed to manually change it in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf :
enable-remixing = no

The secod issue In the sound control app there is no choice of default sound
card like in Windows.
Now I have like 3 sound card Intel Ivy bridge embedded, Creative X-Fi USB, not
to mention soundcard over HDMI/Display Port.

When I turn my thinkpad the sound comes from X-Fi, but the volume
control is still on Intel card ! It works this way since I remember.

I would help in developing, just need the clue where to start :-)
Thanks.

[Bug 864933] Re: vlc crashed opening a blu-ray disk

This only affects the old Bluray plugin (from VLC 1.1). The newer
libbluray-based plugin does not have that code path. Maybe the old
plugin should be removed altogether...

I am not sure if there is a defined way to pass the CD track number via
the command line... VLC sports one command line parameter, but it is
totally VLC-specific.

Could you please paste the verbose VLC logs?

[Bug 881027] Re: Remmina breaks keyboard repeat in Oneiric

2013-06-09 Thread Johan Ferner
This affects me on 13.04. Using Xvnc and remmina to connect to another 13.04

a session. I run remmina on my primary screen in fullscreen on startup.
This did not affect me on 12.10 (discovered remmina on that release).

[Bug 1106271] Re: systemsettings does not start

2013-06-09 Thread p.tar
Found a solution, but not the reason for the problem...

I just combined KDE and Unity, that is, I now start with a KDE login and
put unity in the autostart. I had to resize/reposition the KDE
toolbar, because I use the Unity toolbar without autohide.

Unity just works like a charm, and there are no problems with dolphin or
unavailable KDE services anymore.

I supsect it is a problem in the implementation of the blur effect; if
you disable blur with Compiz Config Setting Manager, both the Dash and
the Alt Tab menu become fast again.

[Bug 875441] Re: ZTE MF190, try to connect on bad ttyUSB2 (ubuntu 11.04 11.10 12.04)

2013-06-09 Thread Jerzy Golonko
I've got the same problem with ZTE MF636 - modem manager uses ttyUSB2, while it
should be ttyUSB3.
I think I found a little simpler solution to this problem, just added one line
to /lib/udev/rules.d/77-mm-zte-port-types.rules:

ATTRS{idProduct}==0033, ENV{.MM_USBIFNUM}==04,
ENV{ID_MM_ZTE_PORT_TYPE_MODEM}=1
ATTRS{idProduct}==0033, ENV{.MM_USBIFNUM}==01,
ENV{ID_MM_ZTE_PORT_TYPE_AUX}=1
# this is what I added
ATTRS{idProduct}==0033, ENV{.MM_USBIFNUM}==02,
ENV{ID_MM_ZTE_PORT_TYPE_MODEM}=0

Now modem manager uses proper ttyUSB3 and everything works as expected.
There is one difference I've noticed using lsusb between ttyUSB2 and ttyUSB3 -
the last has
Transfer TypeInterrupt
and the others have
Transfer TypeBulk
maybe it can be utilized to help modem manager to find right device.

below I send full output of 'lsusb -d 19d2:0033 -v' :

[Bug 990908] Re: Won't honor Do Nothing when Lid is Closed

2013-06-09 Thread Adam Dingle
I see this too. I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy) on a MacBookPro9,1.
In the power settings I have When the lid is closed: Do nothing, but
the machine suspends every time I close the lid. And unfortunately when
I open the lid it can't wake from suspend (see bug #1186818), forcing me
to reboot.

[Bug 995840] Re: When laptop lid is closed screen locks even if it should not

I believe this is a duplicate of bug #990908 ('Won't honor Do Nothing

when the lid is closed even though you've selected Do Nothing in the
power preferences.

[Bug 1033226] Re: No close option, only restart

2013-06-09 Thread Dražen Lučanin
I would also like to see a close button back on that dialog. Don't
bother users with this persistent window polluting the desktop.

There used to be a nice restart recommended indicator before by making
the gear icon in the indicator menu red and IMHO that was more than
enough. Those who are worried about the security of their OS will
restart and those who just want to get on with our work will be able to
do so without additional windows getting in their way.

If the updater UX remains so aggressive, it will only result in people
turning off automatic updates [1] completely, causing much more severe
security risks.

In the current development version of Ubuntu (13.10 Saucy) the power

marking this as fixed. (The behavior is broken, but that's a different
issue; see bug #990908.)
