[Bug 1219466] [NEW] segfault on uncaught exceptions with long message
Public bug reported: The following file causes a segmentation fault: ?php throw new Exception(str_repeat('a', 916)); whereas the same statement with 915 characters shows the exception and terminates gracefully. [Bug 1219466] Re: segfault on uncaught exceptions with long message
I just noticed that only the first line of the exception message is affected. throw new Exception(str_repeat('a', 978).\n.str_repeat('a', 12).\n.str_repeat('a', 12)); performs well. Notice that the length of the first line may be longer if there are multiple lines (978 vs. 916). [Bug 1173759] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 can detect wi-fi but can't connect
Re #28. The computer's been asleep overnight. When it woke up it had the same symptoms. Repeated password requests and no connection. I used my smartphone to change the wireless on my TP-Link_42DE2E to Open. The Ubuntu machine connected. I then reverted the wireless to WPA2-Personal. I went to Edit Connections and deleted both TP- Link_42DE2E instances. I restarted the Ubuntu machine and attempted to connect to TP-Link_42DE2E . This time it connected. Next time it happens I'm going to try just deleting the TP-Link_42DE2E without changing the network type to open. This is a new problem for me. I've been with Ubuntu since 2009. I've had 13.04 since April and it's just started being a problem. I don't know it any of this is any help to anyone. I'd like to think there's someone working on this. [Bug 1077624] Re: Raring: Update Flightgear to version 2.10.0
There are new 2.10 uploads in Debian experimental for simgear (still in NEW queue) and flightgear. [Bug 975876] Re: package emacspeak (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
emacs-snapshot has been removed a long time ago. I don't think we should fix emacspeak to properly skip it. I would suggest closing this bug as won't fix, but as I am not sure, I am setting this bug to incomplete as feedback is welcome. The issue is that emacspeak has a hard-coded list of emacsen that it does NOT support. We could add emacs-snapshot to it, but that does not really makes sense in my opinion. ** Changed in: emacspeak (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/975876 Title: package emacspeak (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/emacspeak/+bug/975876/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't have problems with input lag using packages from proposed 0.0.10+13.10.20130830.1-0ubuntu1 with daily image synced to the latest 30 August release. There is still abnormally high fps in glxgears or es2gears and mir_demo_client_egltriangle. There is also screen tearing. Surprisingly the packages labeled as 0.0.10+13.10.20130829.2-0ubuntu1 which are in the universe repo result in unusable Unity desktop on my graphic card. [Bug 885989] Re: white screen on second monitor when using two xsessions
I have nvidia card with connected 3 monitors configurated as separate x screens. Without patched nautilus: 1) I have white background on second and third screen. 2) All nautilus windows opens on primary/first screen With patched nautilus: 1) Background is ok on all screens. (this patch is included in merge proposal) 2) I can open nautilus window on any screen. (this patch is NOT included in merge proposal) Patch to allow open nautilus window on any screen is simple. It works by creating new instance of nautilus when opening on other screen. Patch is available here - https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=705317 Added these lines to nautilus_desktop_background_constructor function in libnautilus-private/nautilus-desktop-background.c - GdkScreen *screen = gtk_widget_get_screen(singleton-details-widget); g_printerr(Desktop background constructed for screen: %i\n, gdk_screen_get_number(screen)); and these lines to nautilus_application_new function in src/nautilus-application.c g_printerr(Application id: %s\n, application_id); * Builded new packages and installed them. Opened terminal on all screens. * Killed nautilus running - killall nautilus. Opened System Monitor to see that nautilus is not running anymore. * Opened nautilus on first screen from terminal. Now there is one running instance for first screen with application id 'org.gnome.Nautilus.Display_0_0'. Background object is contructed only once for each screen. -- Application id: org.gnome.Nautilus.Display_0_0 Desktop background constructed for screen: 0 Desktop background constructed for screen: 1 Desktop background constructed for screen: 2 -- * Opened nautilus on next screen from terminal. Now there is two instances of nautilus. In terminal is printed only line with application id. Lines from background constructor is NOT printed, so even running new instance nautilus is NOT creating new objects for background. -- Application id: org.gnome.Nautilus.Display_0_2 -- * Opened on tird screen. Some thing as in previus point. -- Application id: org.gnome.Nautilus.Display_0_1 -- * Killed all nautilus instances and opened first nautilus from other screen. -- Application id: org.gnome.Nautilus.Display_0_1 Desktop background constructed for screen: 0 Desktop background constructed for screen: 1 Desktop background constructed for screen: 2 -- So what tests are needed to approve patch? It works! There is no problems, no regressions or anything like that. [Bug 144431] Re: gethostbyname() cant resolve names starting/ending with -
No, I don't think gethostbyname should accommodate for any crazy hostname, and I understand your argument. However, the hyphen is a special character. It *is* allowed in hostnames, just not technically as a border character. Many people have made the argument that hostnames aren't technically supposed to start with a digit, and yet gethostbyname will still resolve those addresses. Why not allow border hyphen characters for the same reason of it being practical in terms of reaching actual available web addresses? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144431 Title: gethostbyname() cant resolve names starting/ending with - To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/glibc/+bug/144431/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Adolfo, I did just that: posted a bug report on GNOME Bugzilla. Here's the link: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=707214. I've spent a big amount of today trying to debug this issue. Here on i386 I get: #7 0xb7bdbe13 in GlobalParams::getVectorAntialias (this=0x8005c008) at GlobalParams.cc:1701 1701 lockGlobalParams; (gdb) p this $1 = (GlobalParams * const) 0x8005c008 (gdb) p globalParams $2 = (GlobalParams *) 0x8005c008 (gdb) p mutex.__data.__kind $3 = -2146993984 ### BROKEN ### (gdb) p mutex $4 = (GooMutex *) 0x8005c0c8 (gdb) p globalParams-mutex.__data.__kind $5 = 1 (gdb) p globalParams-mutex $6 = (GooMutex *) 0x8005c0f8 For some reason, mutex is 6 bytes behind globalParams-mutex (though this and globalParams are the same object). The attached patch (against poppler) partially works around the issue by explicitly using globalParams object. However, this only helps when running xpdf without any arguments. When trying to open the file, I still have the same crash, and globalParams-mutex is broken. [Bug 1219425] [NEW] orca hangs frequently, for example on its own preferences
Public bug reported: I can't get orca to work reliably. I am reproducing a hanging issue on orca preferences. 1. Start orca 2. Switch to accessible app, press Insert+Space to enter the preferences 3. Switch off mouse tracking to make things easier 4. Go to Key bindings tab 5. Click the first action in the table: it's being spoken, one may stop it with Ctrl, so far so good. 6. Try moving by one item at a time using keyboard (arrow down) - still ok 7. Try moving rapidly. Things stop working well and finally orca seems to be totally hanged. What worries me before hanging is the behaviour when I try to move by 2 entries. Both entries are spoken completely without ability to stop it. I would expect that the second key down stops speaking and moves immediately to the next item. Both issues are not 100% reproducable, but at most several attempts are enough. I thought I'd take part in orca development, but at the moment I'm stuck, because I can't get it to work at all. Maybe you can help me. Point me what to check, say what's the expected behaviour, test if my problem is reproducable on your machines. Orca version: many tried, most attempts made on git checkout from 2013-08-31. [Bug 1170483] Re: The file manager (nautilus) handling the Desktop is not being enabled in live session
In reply to Comment #6: Based on this bug, 13.10 introduces a potential hierachical bug using gnome-settings-daemon-3.8.3~raring2-0ubuntu1 The bug manifests itself in 13.10 by exhibiting exactly the same symptoms as this bug even when 'show-desktop-icons' is enabled for org.gnome.desktop.background in dconf. In addition, the bug doesn't occur immediately on desktop session startup - but after some use, all desktop icons disappear and this last window minimise freeze bug starts to appear. Disabling and re-enabling 'show-desktop-icons' dconf entry for org.gnome.desktop.background mentioned above works around the bug. Disabling the following Ubuntu patches for gnome-settings-daemon fixes this: revert_background_dropping.patch 52_sync_background_to_accountsservice.patch git_revert_remove_automount_helper.patch But we're still left with the original bug of needing 'show-desktop- icons' dconf entry for org.gnome.desktop.background enabled.
