[Bug 1173759] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 can detect wi-fi but can't connect

I piggyback via ethernet from my System76, and get a perfect signal on that notebook and perfect speed on the HP. Re: [Bug 1223464] [NEW] orca keyboard command shortcuts
Thanks for your kind, fast response! ..the preveious distro was 10.04..and the pointer movement was controlled by using the tab button and the up-down-right-left-arrows. I believe there was a box on orca preferences that you check to enable keyboard commands or keyboard shortcuts..this way, when you moved the mouse pointer using a keyboard command, orcha would speak or identify whatever the pointer would land on...for instance, on the desktop you hit tab and keep hitting tab and it would keep moving to the next icon on the desktop and would speak the item it was on. It doesn't do that in distro 12.04.02, which is the current distro we are using. If you're blind, you have no way of knowing where the mouse pointer is on the screen.. Also, on the 12.04..if you roll the mouse pointer over the icons on the desktop it doesn't speak them either. I'm totally blind and I need it to tell me what the icons I'm on are.. I've been using orca now for a couple of years and have made cd's of all the keyboard shortcut commands to learn them (talking book type of lessons). Hope this info will help with a solution.. thanks.. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, Ubuntu never provide a package fpc with real content, so if your old fpc package contains files, it looks to me that you didn't get the original package from Ubuntu. I know one PPA that provides a all-in one package of fpc. Because of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. You probably should uninstall fpc first and then continue. If you are interested in learning more about software repositories and Ubuntu, check https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories Please let me know if I was wrong, so we can try to figure it out, but for now I set this bug to invalid. ** Changed in: fpc (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1223390 Title: package fp-units-fcl-2.6.2 2.6.2-5 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/fpc/2.6.2/units/x86_64-linux/fcl- async/libasync.o', which is also in package fpc 2.6.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fpc/+bug/1223390/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1223666] [NEW] update notifier is no longer using a delayed autostart
Public bug reported: Prior to upstart user sessions update-notifier was set to autostart with a 60sec delay. X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=60 This value is however no longer honoured and instead update-notifier starts immediately. You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm using several different phones with different plans to connect to the internet, so this problem is particularly prominent to me. Once a new modem has been set up, it shows like this: modem name status (connected/disconnected) ___ network name If the modem is not connected to the computer it still shows the four lines only with name and status greyed out. [Bug 1180757] [NEW] (network menu) there are too many separation lines
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This menu need to be reorganised a bit. There are a lot of separation lines, to the point the user has trouble understanding what they are separating. I'd love to put a screenshot of it but I can't (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1153157) so I'll use my best ascii art instead. Here is how it shows on my computer: phone1 ~greyed~ disconnected ~greyed~ __ some network __ phone2 ~greyed~ disconnected ~greyed~ __ another network __ wireless network ~greyed~ current network disconnect __ some wifi another wifi a third wifi too many wifi I can see five __ connect to an invisible wifi create new wifi network __ VPN connections ~with submenu~ __ (✓) activate network (✓) activate wireless network __ connexion informations manage connexions The separation line should only separate different objects: modem1, modem2, wireless, VPN, options. There shouldn't be a line between active and inactive connections: an icon change and the following line "disconnect" indented should be enough. Furthermore you either have a submenu or you don't, VPN shouldn't be singled out. Like this: phone1 ~greyed~ disconnected ~greyed~ (x) some network __ phone2 ~greyed~ disconnected ~greyed~ (x) another network __ wireless network ~greyed~ (✓) current network disconnect (x) some wifi (x) another wifi (x) a third wifi (x) too many wifi (x) I can see five connect to an invisible wifi create new wifi network __ VPN connections ~with submenu~ __ options ~greyed~ (✓) activate network (✓) activate wireless network connexion informations manage connexions This would be easier to read and understand.
