[Bug 1219684] Re: Depency of Curl and 7z is missing for PlayOnLinux
Current dev release has that already (if I am not mistaken), but has not been released as stable, as of yet. Will update after I check it. If I am incorrect in that being fixed in the current dev version, Ill make sure its added as a fix to the next stable release. Again, I can see at least Saucy has the current stable, which is good. It does alert about the missing deps, but Im sure the head devs left it out originally for some reason. [Bug 1241582] Re: [Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3] System freezes after suspend to RAM
I have the same motherboard as the OP and an Nvidia graphics card with the proprietary driver. I didn't experience the problem after upgrading Kubuntu from 13.04 to 13.10 with 3.11.0-12. After upgrading to 3.11.0-13 a few days ago, though, I have had the problem intermittently. Testing my system a few times with 3.11.0-13, it was fine, but I've had the problem twice with the system slept overnight. I'm currently back on 3.11.0-12 without a problem. In my case, the system wakes up and I can enter a few characters of my password into LightDM. Then the system freezes. It's unresponsive to the keyboard and mouse, and pinging it from another machine fails. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241582 Title: [Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3] System freezes after suspend to RAM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1241582/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1249705] Re: HDMI output not available in 13.10
Here is the log for Pulse audio. I have been looking for an alsa update. The only thing I seem to find is outdated scripts to install alsa 1.0x.x . [Bug 1219684] Re: Depency of Curl and 7z is missing for PlayOnLinux
This is NOT A BUG. We (The PlayOnLinux Team) have stated previously that whatever bugs are being reported here have been corrected. The version in ALL of Ubuntu's repositories (as far as I can see) is SUPER old. The current STABLE version that is recommended for use is PlayOnLinux 4.2.1. This is NOT available through the default repositories, but is readily available from www.playonlinux.com Please add PlayOnLinux version 4.2.1 to the Official Repositories, so that people can use that one. Filing bug reports for an old version of our software is counter-productive. Obviously, if it pops up and says that you are missing a dependency, then that is the problem. It states that you need curl and 7zip. This is far from a bug; its a dependency. Very easy to fix. Simply: sudo apt-get install curl p7zip-full will fix the "error" that is being seen. If people want to see updates in the software, then the Ubuntu repo admins need to bring the version of POL in their repo to the current version, or simply install POL 4.2.1 from playonlinux.com. If Ubuntu will not update their repo with our current version, then you will need to update it via our site, otherwise, we cannot do anything about it. Hopefully the current version will be pushed into Ubuntu's repository. Im not sure why it has not been moved into their repo yet, anyway. But, it is what it is. ** Changed in: playonlinux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219684 Title: Depency of Curl and 7z is missing for PlayOnLinux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/playonlinux/+bug/1219684/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1219684] Re: Depency of Curl and 7z is missing for PlayOnLinux
I stand corrected; Saucy has 4.2.1 in their repo: http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/playonlinux If it says that you need to install curl and p7zip, simply install them, and the errors will not be there. Its quite trivial. Simply install, and use as usual. If you are missing a dependency, it will say, so just install the dep, and continue about your day. :D ** Changed in: playonlinux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219684 Title: Depency of Curl and 7z is missing for PlayOnLinux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/playonlinux/+bug/1219684/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1249705] Re: HDMI output not available in 13.10
Hello Raymond, I am not 100% sure that the TX-SR606 passed EDID to the controller. I would imagine so since I had full HDMI digital 5.1 outputs before with no issues with previous versions of Ubuntu including Susse. I rarely used S/PDIF. I will say though, since the fresh installation of Ubuntu 13.10 I have had nothing but audio issues. I have had others tell me to go back to a previous working version, but that is not going to resolve anything for other users that may have the same issues. I will hang in here and work with whomever needs any input from me until this is resolved, documented and patched. Today I determined via one of the tests that there is an output on the HDMI but only on that one specific test, and it was only stereo with reversed Left and Right audio mapping. That may be a small plus in this situation. In addition, I had full HDMI output surround sound in XBMC Frodo 12.x. Now I only have S/PDIF stereo and no working HDMI options. When viewing a AC3 or other 5.1 encoded video there is no audio. As for MCP73, I have never noticed that info until now, probably due to not running some of these tests which is yielding all this output data. I also had another thought here. If anyone wants to do some remote digging in this system, I am available fulltime until the 14th of November. After that I will be only available evenings US EST. I already have Team Viewer installed on this system for when I need to do remote support here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249705 Title: HDMI output not available in 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1249705/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1250312] [NEW] Numerous RadeonSI and RadeonCI issues
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04 Firstly, there is the problem that Mesa is heavily outdated (9.2.2). Mesa 10 officially releases on November 27th but it would be highly admirable to see it arrive here earlier. Secondly, RadeonSI+ demands/requires Mesa to be compiled with LLVM 3.4 or else it will be stuck at OpenGL 2.1 and littered with missing features, bugs, and low performance. [Bug 1066480] Re: Installer doesn't show encrypted partitions
I found a bug in the cryptroot script run by update-initramfs. On line 523 it tests for a return value from add_device(), and prints an error message. if ! modules=$(add_device "$dev"); then ... This statement will never be true, therefore the user is never notified of the error. I did receive a warning message, indicating that there's no valid entry for my volume group in /etc/crypttab. However, I can't see why it's even necessary to have anything in crypttab, because by the time the rootfs is accessible, and thus /etc/crypttab, the crypt has already been opened. However, this page says that an entry is required in /etc/crypttab. [Bug 562005] Re: Backlight controls of laptops with NVIDIA NVS and Quadro FX 880M GPUs no longer function while using proprietary drivers
On my workplace Thinkpad W530 (Quadro K1000M in discrete-only mode), "EnableBrightnessControl=1" does in fact expose a working "Backlight" property via xrandr. Unfortunately, Gnome is looking for a property called "BACKLIGHT", and falls back to /sys/class/backlight when it's not found. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/947919 I've also managed to get the nvidiabl module to work, by setting the 'type' and 'max' parameters. Gnome prefers backlights of type "platform" over type "raw". The non- working thinkpad_screen is type "platform", and nvidia_backlight defaults to "raw". Setting nvidia_backlight to "platform" fixes this. My approach for figuring out the proper value of 'max': 1. Start with EnableBrightnessControl=1 set. 2. Load nvidiabl with some value (such as 0x1000) for 'max'.(If your backlight turns entirely off, doing step 3 should turn it back on.) modprobe nvidiabl max= 3. Use xbacklight to change brightness to some lower value, then back to 100. (If you just try to reapply 100, it won't work.) xbacklight -set 50; xbacklight -set 100 4. Check what the reported 'actual_brightness' and 'brightness' values are. grep . /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/*brightness 5. If brightness and actual_brightness both equal the max_brightness value, you've found a 'max' that works. If actual_brightness and brightness are below max_brightness, the guess for 'max' was too high. If they're above max_brightness, the guess for 'max' was too low. 6. As a final sanity check, I verified that the brightness slider in gnome works smoothly (that is, brightness changes occur over the whole range). 7. Save that max in a module config file; I tend to put all my personal options in /etc/modprobe.d/custom.conf options nvidiabl type=platform max= Now I just need to remove "EnableBrightnessControl", since as it is now, the nvidia driver reverts to the xbacklight value (100) whenever I click a link in an e-mail. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562005 Title: Backlight controls of laptops with NVIDIA NVS and Quadro FX 880M GPUs no longer function while using proprietary drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+bug/562005/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 941286] Re: Setting brightness doesn't work out of the box on Acer Extensa 5235
Bence Lukács, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 1036456] Re: [Fujitsu LIFEBOOK AH530] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s!
I was instructed to test the latest development release (14.04) to determine whether a bug (soft lockup bug), which still exists in 12.04 LTS, is in the development release and/or the mainline kernel for the development release. My tests suggest that the bug is fixed in 14.04 (the development release) and in the mainline kernel for the development release. The fix is to be applied (backported; if I understand the meaning of "backport") to the LTS version - 12.04 LTS. The bug, as reported, is valid, and has existed on this system for more than a year. The test is not conclusive, but, after 540 suspend/resumes it can be tentatively assumed that the bug no longer exists in the development release (14.04) or the mainline kernel for the development release. The bug would certainly show up in 12.04 after 540 suspend/resumes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1036456 Title: [Fujitsu LIFEBOOK AH530] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s!
