[Bug 1252722] [NEW] apache2 ships ufw profile in wrong location

2013-11-19 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

apache2 in 14.04 ships the ufw profile in a subdirectory of
/etc/ufw/applications.d:
$ dpkg -S /etc/ufw/applications.d/apache2/apache2-utils.ufw.profile
apache2: /etc/ufw/applications.d/apache2/apache2-utils.ufw.profile

However, ufw does not support this:
$ sudo ufw app list
Available applications:
  Bonjour
  CUPS
  OpenSSH
  PeopleNearby
  Postfix
  Postfix SMTPS
  Postfix Submission

Moving the profile into the /etc/ufw/applications.d directory resolves the
issue:
$ sudo ufw app list
Available applications:
  Apache
  Apache Full
  Apache Secure
  Bonjour
  CUPS
  OpenSSH
  PeopleNearby
  Postfix
  Postfix SMTPS
  Postfix Submission

I'm assuming this happened as part of the 2.4 transition, so this
probably also affects 13.10.

[Bug 1243403] Re: Upgrade from qemu 1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.11 fails

2013-11-19 Thread William Kelly
Hello!

Unfortunately, I destroyed the vm I was testing on, but there was
definitely an issue with my sources or the mirror (kernel.org) I was
using, as I was able to successfully upgrade from precise's qemu to
saucy's qemu with no issues. I do see ipxe-qemu in the saucy main repo
now.

The qemu upgrade issues are resolved.

Will Kelly

[Bug 1252441] Re: postgrey not starting after release upgrade

2013-11-19 Thread Shinji
I can start postgrey with

===
service postgrey start
===

If I remove the -T parameter from /usr/sbin/postgrey! So instead of

===
#!/usr/bin/perl -T -w
===

I have to write

===
#!/usr/bin/perl -w
===

Now postgrey starts again. It seems that disabling the perl tainted mode
solves the problem. But I guess this opens some security holes. :(

[Bug 1184262] Re: times out too early, stuck in PrepareForSleep, causing network and other services to not resume

2013-11-19 Thread Catalin Hritcu
This doesn't make it worse for me, it makes it better, but it still
doesn't completely solve the network failing to resume problem. As with
the first patch I get a failure rate of around 1 in 30. I've tried
suspending 30 times in 3 different ways: using the lid, using sudo pm-
suspend and the menu or the power button menu. The X below shows the
failure :)

lid: | X
pm-suspend: | |
menu/power button: | |

The failure case was solved by running nmcli nm sleep false.

[Bug 1074426] Re: custom Keyboard shortcuts reset every time Ubuntu updates

2013-11-19 Thread Simone Bordet
I have the same bug in Ubuntu 13.10 since at least Ubuntu 12.10. I don't
think it was present in 12.04.

The days there are no software updates the custom keyboard shortcuts work fine,
the day there is a software update they get reset (at boot time or at least
very close to that time: after the login screen they already don't work).
I don't know if it is a coincidence or not.

For me, only the Navigation and Windows categories of the keyboard
shortcuts get reset.
Categories Launchers and System are not reset.
I am not sure about others categories as I don't have any custom in other
categories.

Like others, I would like the priority of this bug to be increased,
since it is plaguing Ubuntu for more than 1 year now (and 3 releases).
This bug's annoyance ratio is pretty high as it affects daily usage.

I am available to try any suggestion to try to identify the application
that causes keyboard shortcuts reset, but I would need guidance from the
devs.

[Bug 1049466] Re: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support

2013-11-19 Thread Massimo Cesaro
My laptop is HP ENVY dv6. Since the upgrade to 13.10 WiFi isn't working
reliably anymore; today I'm using 3.11.0-14-generic kernel . The only way I can
manage to work around the WiFi los is by changing the authentication method on
our AP to WEP(!). Any other authentication is broken.
WiFi signal is weak even at a close range. I tried also #125 and upgrading the
kernel to 3.12 to no avail.
On 13.04 WiFi was working quite well.

[Bug 1252121] Re: networkmanager networking is disabled on suspend-resume

2013-11-19 Thread Martin Pitt
In bug 1184262, Catalin made an interesting observation that this
failure seems to only happen for her when using the lid to suspend, but
not when using the session menu or power button.

It would be interesting if you ever get a suspend failure with this:

  sudo gdbus call -y -d org.freedesktop.login1 -o
/org/freedesktop/login1 -m org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Suspend true

This should ideally be equivalent to running pm-suspend or the
menu/power button, but it is only sometimes equivalent to closing the
lid. The lid is handled by logind internally *unless* there is a running
Unity/GNOME session. On some laptops there are pm-suspend quirks which
switch to VT1 before suspend, which might be related.

Re: [Bug 1184262] Re: times out too early, stuck in PrepareForSleep, causing network and other services to not resume

2013-11-19 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Catalin,

thanks for your feedback!

Catalin Hritcu [2013-11-19  8:17 -]:
 lid: | X
 pm-suspend: | |
 menu/power button: | |

Interesting, thanks for pointing that out. If it can be confirmed that
this now only happens if you close the lid, then this indeed deserves
a new bug report, or perhaps it's the same issue as Gabriel has in bug
1252121. I'll ask there, too.

It would also be interesting if you ever get a suspend failure with
this:

  sudo gdbus call -y -d org.freedesktop.login1 -o
/org/freedesktop/login1 -m org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Suspend true

[Bug 1252655] [NEW] Thunar assigns date stamp of deleted file when previous (e.g. original) copy of file copied or moved into directory

2013-11-19 Thread Kim Tucker
Public bug reported:

While changing directory structures and trying to reduce the number of
duplicate files on an external usb drive - dragging, dropping and
deleting files manually with Thunar - I noticed the above (title/one
line summary) in the following situation:

(e.g.) I have 2 identical files 'filename.ext' in two folders:
'folder-to-delete/' contains the original file with the original date stamp,
'folder-to-keep/' has the same file but a different (later) date stamp as it
was copied previously (with this problem).

If I delete the file 'folder-to-keep/filename.ext' and then copy or move
(drag/drop) the file 'folder-to-delete/filename.ext' into 'folder-to-
keep/', the file now in 'folder-to-keep/' acquires a new date stamp
(matching the deleted file).

However, if I drag or drop the file into an empty folder which has not
previously contained a version of it, the original date stamp is
retained (as I require/expect).

If I first move (by drag and drop) the unwanted file 'folder-to-
keep/filename.ext' elsewhere, and then copy/move 'folder-to-
delete/filename.ext' into 'folder-to-keep/', the original date stamp is
retained (as I require/expect).

The problem is independent of whether I empty trash after deleting.

So, is this a bug?
I would expect moving or copying a file to some other folder should retain its
date of creation and modification.
Overwriting/replacing the unwanted file with the wanted one should retain date
stamp of the wanted.
In the scenario above the new date stamp is incorrect, so I expect this is a
bug.

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 13.10
Release: 13.10
$ uname -a
... 3.11.0-13-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 23 07:38:26 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64

In a Xubuntu session.

A quick test with Nautilus also in a Xubuntu session on the same system:
no. Nautilus works as I would expect: copying, moving and replacing all
retain the date stamp whether the unwanted file was previously deleted
or moved or not (i.e. replaced).

[Bug 1057553] Re: [Sony Corporation VGN-FW56E] suspend/resume failure

2013-11-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jonathan Nakandala, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this.

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 985065] Re: Can't use fr/oss keyboard layout by default

2013-11-19 Thread Tazir
Using Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 (fresh install), with English + Hebrew keyboards.
Still have the same problem - mostly changing the layout (in the indicator and
by keyboard shortcut) not working.
Some time its just work.
