[Bug 1257082] Re: MAAS does not use NTP servers specified in DHCPD options
Julian: I disagree that this is dhclient's fault. The lease file clearly shows the NTP servers were received and the contents of /var/lib/ntpdate/default.dhcp are correctly set to the 3 NTP servers, showing the dhclient exit hook worked too. At this point it is up to the ntpclient to use these servers. Scott: there is no /etc/ntp.conf file. It is not auto-generated by any script. I would expect the ntp client to honor the DHCP NTP servers if /etc/ntp.conf does not work. Robie: The ARM device we have uses a capacitor to store the state of the RTC. If the device is without power for a few days the RTC completely resets. We absolutely need NTP working to keep these nodes functioning properly in a MAAS cluster. I too wonder why ntpdate-debian completely ignores the DHCP generated file /var/lib/ntpdate/default.dhcp when /etc/ntp.conf doesn't exist. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ntp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257082 Title: MAAS does not use NTP servers specified in DHCPD options To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1257082/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1257082] Re: MAAS does not use NTP servers specified in DHCPD options
If you set NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=no (eg. from a preseed late_command), then does this fix the issue? Sounds to me that we either need to have MAAS do that, or consult with Debian about the intention of this setting and its interaction with DHCP in the default case to see if it's a bug or it's intentional. I understand your use case and think that MAAS should support it, but I wonder whether just fixing the DHCP hook will work in all cases, or some other work is required here. My doubt is just that DHCP needs to run much earlier than usual in the cloud-init case, and so I don't know if the hook will always run, and therefore just want to make sure. In the interest of having all the info ccontained in this bug, below is what I had written in the ask-ubuntu response. You can allow your lxc container to do mounts of ext2, ext3, or ext4 filesystems in one of 2 ways. The simplist is to just add the following to the lxc config (/var/lib/lxc/$NAME/config): lxc.aa_profile = unconfined lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = b 7:* rwm lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = c 10:237 rwm A much more restrictive solution that still grants the necessary permissions is to do the following: $ sudo tee /etc/apparmor.d/lxc/lxc-custom-mounts EOF # copied and modified from /etc/apparmor.d/lxc/lxc-default profile lxc-container-extx-mounts flags=(attach_disconnected,mediate_deleted) { #include abstractions/lxc/container-base mount fstype=ext4 - /**, mount fstype=ext3 - /**, mount fstype=ext2 - /**, } EOF # reload the lxc-containers profile $ sudo apparmor_parser --replace /etc/apparmor.d/lxc-containers $ sudo lxc-create -t ubuntu-cloud -n source-saucy-amd64 -- --release=saucy --arch=amd64 $ name=test1 $ cfg=/var/lib/lxc/$name/config; $ sudo lxc-clone -o source-saucy-amd64 -n $name ## modify the config to use the profile created above $ sudo grep #allow-loop $cfg || sudo tee -a $cfg EOF #allow-loop lxc.aa_profile = lxc-container-extx-mounts lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = b 7:* rwm lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = c 10:237 rwm EOF ** Also affects: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: maas Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: maas Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: maas (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Summary changed: - cannot run maas inside lxc container + cannot run maas-cluster-controller inside lxc container ** Summary changed: - cannot run maas-cluster-controller inside lxc container + cannot run maas-import-ephemerals inside lxc container -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257389 Title: cannot run maas-import-ephemerals inside lxc container To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1257389/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1257389] Re: cannot run maas-import-ephemerals inside lxc container
Allowing ext4 mount by default in lxc would require a kernel ('linux' package) or security team task to vet the ext4 superblock parser etc in the kernel. We can however ship a (optional, non-default) apparmor policy allowing it to make that easier. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257389 Title: cannot run maas-import-ephemerals inside lxc container To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1257389/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1257176] Re: Antialiasing is always on
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. [Bug 1257206] [NEW] Maguro does not swap between active and held call
