[Bug 1247736] Re: package ocl-icd-libopencl1 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libOpenCL.so', which is also in package nvidia-opencl-dev:amd64 5

2014-04-26 Thread Graham Inggs
While ocl-icd-libopencl1 and nvidia-opencl-dev are shipping the same
binary file '/usr/lib/*/libOpenCL.so', it doesn't seem to cause a
problem in Debian. In Ubuntu, we have the same ocl-icd and nvidia-cuda-
toolkit packages as in Debian, however our nvidia-graphics-drivers*
packages are packaged differently.

In Ubuntu, nvidia-opencl-icd-331 has the following package relationships:
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.2.5), zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4)
Suggests: nvidia-libopencl1-331
Conflicts: opencl-icd
Replaces: opencl-icd
Provides: opencl-icd

In Debian, the equivalent nvidia-opencl-icd has the following:
Depends: nvidia-opencl-common (= 331.67-1), ocl-icd-libopencl1 |
nvidia-libopencl1 | libopencl1, libnvidia-compiler (= 331.67-1), libc6 (>=
2.2.5), zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4)
Enhances: libopencl1
Conflicts: nvidia-opencl-icd-ia32
Replaces: nvidia-opencl-icd-ia32
Provides: opencl-icd

I believe the conflicts/replaces on opencl-icd in nvidia-opencl-icd-331
are causing this problem when trying to co-install nvidia-cuda-toolkit
and wine (LP: #1310267) and preventing the co-installation of python-
pycuda and python-pyopencl (LP: #1312422).

[Bug 1310490] Re: Doesn't register to use the messaging menu (indicator-messages) on 14.04 LTS

2014-04-26 Thread Aaruni Kaushik
I have been able to get the gm-notify in the messaging menu, by manually
creating a symlink to the gm-notify.desktop in
/usr/share/indicators/messages/applications , but it doesn't do anything
in terms of functionality. Screenshot, when gm-notify is running.

http://img.krow.me/image.php?di=JF6M

It doesn't report the number of unread emails, and doesn't even turn the
messaging icon blue when new mail arrives.

[Bug 1313250] [NEW] Shortcut key Ctrl+L no longer sets cursor to page selector in 3.10.3

2014-04-26 Thread macho
Public bug reported:

In previous versions of evince, when I pressed Ctrl+L the cursor focus
would be set to the page number box. It made it extremely convenient to
navigate documents. Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 / evince 3.10.3,
this seems no longer to work. Would be great to get the functionality
back. Thanks!

[Bug 1313248] [NEW] Ctrl+[Key] Shortcuts Assigned in QtCreator Do Not Work

2014-04-26 Thread Jason Stephenson
Public bug reported:

I recompiled one of my Qt applications tonight on Ubuntu 14.04. This
application uses QActions that are are set up in the mainwindow.ui file.
(I originally did this with QtDesigner some two year ago, but have
updated the application for Qt 5 in the mean time.)

When appmenu-qt5 is installed, the Ctrl+[key] shortcuts of the actions
on the main menubar do not work. If I remove appment-qt5, they do work
as expected.

Oddly enough, the edit actions on the edit dialog do work, but they are
disabled and enabled multiple times.

I tried disabling and enabling the actions on the main menubar in code
which didn't help. I also tried assigning the short cut keys via code
and that did not help.

I am using 14.04 LTS, appmenu-qt5 0.3.0+14.04.20140415-0ubuntu1, and the
Qt program found at https://github.com/Dyrcona/omiquji

When appmenu-qt5 is installed, the Ctrl+[key] shortcuts of the actions
on the main menubar do not work. If I remove appment-qt5, they do work
  as expected.

- Oddly enough, the edit actions on the edit dialog do work, but they
- disable and enabled multiple times.
+ Oddly enough, the edit actions on the edit dialog do work, but they are
+ disabled and enabled multiple times.

[Bug 1289977] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Update breaks grub, resulting in "error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found"

2014-04-26 Thread yarn
I, however, did not find an easy fix. After spending all day (i.e.,
over 10 hours) trying to muddle through commands I don't really
understand, I read that the solution is in fact to reformat your
harddrive (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2218362). Given
this, I finally gave up worrying that fiddling with parts I don't
understand by doing things I can't even pronounce is going to do even
more damage to my machine than is done by making it utterly unbootable.

Released from care by knowing I'll probably have to start from scratch
anyway, I start doing things nearly randomly, and may have added grub to
every partition aliong the way. Continuing this strategy with the
options in boot-repair, I stumble upon a combination of chosen options
that lets me boot. I have no idea if I now (still?) have "a
misconfigured system;" all I know is that after hours of trying random
things after hours of having exhausted trying posted things, it finally
works again.

For other's sake, I got it to work by using the general steps given here:
http://iambusychangingtheworld.blogspot.com/2014/03/error-symbol-grubtermhighlightcolor-not.html
with these these particulars (no idea what really mattered, so just giving it
all):

===

Boot-Repair Options

Advanced Settings:
Main options
- reinstall grub
- use standard efi
- backup and rename windows efi
- hid boot menu

GRUB options
- secure boot
- purge grub before reinstall
- did NOT upgrade grub to most recent version

GRUB location
- changed to windows (via sda5) [I think this was the critical point, but I
really have no idea--I could have recited something from the Necronomicon and
had as much faithin what I was donig]
- ata disk support

Output from boot-repair:
--

Boot successfully repaired.

Please write on a paper the following URL:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/7341950/

In case you still experience boot problem, indicate this URL to:
boot.rep...@gmail.com or to your favorite support forum.

You can now reboot your computer.
Please do not forget to make your BIOS boot on sda (2000GB) disk!

You may want to retry after deactivating the [Backup and rename Windows
EFI files] option.

===

With this, it rebooted to Windows fine. To reboot to Ubuntu, had to go
to Advanced Ubutnu Setup in grub and choose an old kernel
(3.11.0-18-generic); it won't work if I try a newer kernel.

Please understand that I very sincerely appreciate the hard, selfless
work that went and continues to go into the creation of Ubuntu and
related products. But please also understand that if you want people to
share your work, you can't expect them to share your expertise.

There are those who love to tinker with their cars, playing with the
cylinder timings, oil mixture, whatever. But like many end users, I
have places to go and things to do. I use Ubuntu because,
ideologically, I'm very for open source--but ahead of even strong
ideological convictions are real-world obligations. If I can't reliably
put my key in the ignition and go, then, yeah, f*** this. Spend all the
time you want navel-gazing about Unity, Amazon, and the exact
hermeneutics of bugs. None of that matters to the likes of me if it
isn't a rock-solid system that works.

[Bug 1313169] Re: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr cannot boot on RAID5 array

2014-04-26 Thread David Lee
I've managed to fix the installation so that the system will boot.

Steps to fix:
1. Boot from LiveCD
2. switch over to console ( [Ctrl]+[Super]+[F1] ) and do ' lsmod | grep raid '
3. mount the raid array to /mnt:
4. chroot /mnt
5. modify /etc/initramfs-tools/modules to include the modules listed in step 2
above.
6. rebuild initrd using mkinitramfs ( ' mkinitramfs -o
/boot/initrd.img-3.13.0-24-generic 3.13.0-24-generic ' )
7. reinstall grub ( ' update-grub && grub-install /dev/mapper/ ' )
8. exit chroot
9. reboot
10. Profit!

List of modules displayed by the lsmod | grep raid :
raid0
dm_raid
raid1
raid10
raid456
async_raid6_recov
async_memcpy
async_pq
async_tx
raid6_pq

it seems pretty silly that the above aren't included in the default
image, as they're required to boot a RAID array.

[Bug 1056978]

2014-04-26 Thread Bakskyene
I don't understand why this should be a theme issue. Using Gnome, the
resizing area, which goes beyond the window border, is theme
independent. It would be very great if this behaviour could be
implemented in Xfce.

The current situation is somewhat awkward, as there is a window resizing
functionality, but it isn't very useful.

[Bug 1313240] [NEW] Xfce4-panel plugins unable to be themed by Xfce widgets and classes

2014-04-26 Thread EwenS
Public bug reported:

There is a README in the source code at
xfce4-panel-4.11.0/docs/README.gtkrc-2.0 which you can read at
https://github.com/EasternHeart/heartlenv-
panel/blob/master/docs/README.gtkrc-2.0 - it explains how to theme
various aspects of the panel.

NONE of those which declare a perimeter in gtk-icon-sizes work:

XfceApplicationsMenuPlugin
XfceDirectoryMenuPlugin
XfceWindowMenuPlugin
XfceLauncherPlugin
XfceTasklist
XfceActionsPlugin

For example, placing the following in to $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0 results in no
changes.

gtk-icon-sizes="panel-tasklist-menu=64,64"

style "xfce-tasklist-style"
{
  XfceTasklist::max-button-size = 64
}
class "XfceTasklist" style "xfce-tasklist-style"

I am sure that $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0 *is* being read because other parts of
the file have effect.

Since xsettings.xml is no longer used to increase these sizes on the
panel, this means that it is not possible to increase any panel menu
icons sizes above the tiny 16 pixel size. This effectivle blocks many
visually impaired people from using Xfce.

As I am trying to build a distro based on Xfce, I'd be very, very
appreciative of a fix. :-)

in C++, that runs on most popular platforms. It includes emulation of
the Intel x86 CPU, common I/O devices, and a custom BIOS. Bochs can be
compiled to emulate many different x86 CPUs, from early 386 to the most
recent x86-64 Intel and AMD processors which may even not reached the
market yet.

Vulnerability Description

Two vulnerabilities were found in Bochs’s parsing of bxrc files
(configuration), a format string vulnerability and a stack corruption
vulnerability. Both of these could potentially allow an attacker to
execute arbitrary code in the context of the user running Bochs.

Technical Details

I tested Bochs by running boches.exe -q -f [bxrc-file]. The first one is
a format string vulnerability (repro1.bxrc) when boches parses the
“floppya” field:

The second vulnerability (repro2.bxrc) occurs boches parses the
“romimage” field. See debugging output below for more info.

Debugging (repro2.bxrc, Stack Corruption)

[Bug 1252910] Re: Unable to install Search Engines in Firefox 25.0

2014-04-26 Thread el_gallo_azul
I had problems since I updated from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 13.10, and
other problems when I updated from Ubuntu 13.10 to Ubuntu 14.04. Rather
than spend all my time trying to fix problems, I reinstalled Ubuntu
14.04 from DVD, two days ago.

Today is the first time that I have tried to add a search engine which
was not available to add directly via the Search Engines drop-down arrow
> "Add...".

I attach a screenshot.

It seems like the inability to turn off your system from the cog in the

completely unrelated to xorg, hence changing this over to cairo-dock.

I was able to fix this problem following advice of (Splaktar) by downloading a
grub repair. It was an easy fix but a very difficult position caused by a
simple automatic upgrade from 13-10. This is not a problem for non-technical
users like myself to face. I've read the comments above, understood very
little of it, other than it is widespread and can happen to anyone, even a
novice. An automatic upgrade that automatically incapacitated my machine. I
do thank all of you for helping me repair my broken GRUB.
