[Bug 1315026] Re: [Dell Inc. XPS M1330][14.04 Regression] suspend/resume failure

2014-05-25 Thread Ian Kay
Can confirm similar behaviour on my XPS M1330 with 14.04. If I suspend
by closing the lid, when I open again, I have no keyboard response.

[Bug 1322933] [NEW] smbd and nmbd doesn't restart via service samba restart

2014-05-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Linux Mint 17 'Quiana' Cinnamon 64-bit

On terminal as root:
# service samba restart
# echo $?
1

Using service samba retart doesn't restart smbd and nmbd.
Actually start, stop, restart and force-reload don't work.
Only reload and status options work.

service samba restart should retart smbd and nmbd.
# service smbd restart service nmbd restart
smbd stop/waiting
smbd start/running, process 5300
nmbd stop/waiting
nmbd start/running, process 5317
# echo $?

Tested with service samba restart and /etc/init.d/samba restart.
It happened both in my desktop and in a Virtualbox VM.

[Bug 1322892] Re: SSH ist unable to negotiate a key exchange method after latest update when curve25519 is required

2014-05-25 Thread Colin Watson
We needed to apply a fix to curve25519-sha256 key exchange supplied by
upstream, but that involved disabling that key exchange method for
unpatched 6.6 and earlier versions. OpenSSH 6.7 will fix this when it's
released, but in the meantime I suggest applying the same patch to your
homebrew client (and perhaps getting the package maintainer to do so as
well; I'm not familiar with how homebrew works).

In my tests on Ubuntu 14.04, the LXC dnsmasq process is restarted with:

only when all guest containers are stopped. If one or more containers
are running, the dnsmasq process is left running with its old settings
when lxc-net is restarted.

[Bug 1322441] [NEW] QEMU Windows guest unstable after random amount of time

2014-05-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu 14.04, all updates done as of 23/5/2014
Kernel : Linux 3.13.0-24-generic
Qemu : 1.7.1 and 2.0.0 tested
Tested using both Xeon 5620 and 5520 processors, 48GB RAM.

Anywhere from 20 minutes for 3+ hours after booting Windows guests become
unstable. Guest appear to freeze intermittently (VNC console unresponsive,
network pings dropped to guest, frozen IO) for 20-60 seconds at a time which
repeats constantly every few minutes and guests do not recover unless QEMU is
killed and the guest is started again. Whilst the guest is frozen CPU usage of
the QEMU process jumps to 100-150%.

Re: [Bug 1043588] Re: sudo restart lxc-net does not kill/restart dnsmasq

2014-05-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 703800 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/703800

This happens because 'restart service' does not cause service's post-stop
to be executed. Only it's pre-stop is executed.

Note that if you want to stop the dnsmasq, you can work around this by
doing

stop lxc-net; start lxc-net

The pre-start also would not be executed on a restart, so just changing
the post-stop would not suffice. We'd have to change the pre-start to
'script'.

I'm not sure whether there is any downside to doing so.

[Bug 1322441] Re: QEMU Windows guest unstable after random amount of time

2014-05-25 Thread Matthew Anderson
Not this exact problem but one with similar symptoms. From kernel 3.5
onwards there was a problem with guests not receiving RTC ticks which
was reported here - http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-
devel/2013-02/msg03827.html

The 3.2 kernel from 12.04.1 never had any issues but the 3.5 kernel from
12.04.2 onwards hit the RTC bug whoch was fixed in later releases of
QEMU.

[Bug 1322441] Re: QEMU Windows guest unstable after random amount of time

2014-05-25 Thread Matthew Anderson
Based on the fact that flush_tlb_page() appears to be taking up most of
the CPU time when QEMU is 'frozen' I started playing with memory
settings. Disabling automatic NUMA balancing appears to have solved the
problem. echo 0 /proc/sys/kernel/numa_balancing

The guest has been running 4+ hours now without an issue. I currently
have KSM and transparent huge pages enabled.

[Bug 1321994] Re: RTL8188EE driver regression in 3.13.0-24. Extremely slow network performance

2014-05-25 Thread Michael Murphy
Also getting severe issues with RTL8188EE in my HP 15-g029wm. It works a
lot better in Arch Linux which uses 3.14(although still suffers), but
Ubuntu with 3.13 is suffering from slow performance and a ton of Reason
2 disconnects every now and then. It's been a bug with as far as I can
remember on 3.13.

[Bug 1318951] Re: kernel update to 3.13.0-24.47 fails

2014-05-25 Thread Manfred Hampl
Potential workaround that seems to have worked for an 3.2.0-61.92 to
3.2.0-61.93 upgrade on precide with /boot on a FAT32 partition:

Boot into a previous kernel version, uninstall the -61.92 kernel, and
install -61.93 kernel from scratch.

Boot into the -60 kernel and issue the following commands:
sudo dpkg --purge linux-image-3.2.0-61-generic
sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.2.0-61-generic
sudo apt-get upgrade

[Bug 1303736] Re: Black screen after wakeup from suspending by closing the laptop lid

2014-05-25 Thread Andreas Siegert
Following the instructions from post #91 I now have a Lenovo T520 that
can be suspended by lid-close with light-locker.

But, FN-F4 as well as using Suspend from the XFCE panel will not lock
the machine. Not sure whether this is related to the changes in power
manager or what the cause is.

[Bug 1322968] [NEW] Changing country leads to invalid locale

2014-05-25 Thread Dimitris Kardarakos
Public bug reported:

New installation of Kubuntu 14.04 and upgraded via kubuntu-ppa.
Initially, country is set to United States. The locale settings are
the following:

~/.kde/env$ cat setlocale.sh
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
export LANGUAGE=en:el:en
export LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_PAPER=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_NAME=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_ADDRESS=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_TELEPHONE=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.UTF-8

Then, I change Country to Greece, via System Settings. Locale changes as
follows:

export LANG=en_GR.UTF-8
export LANGUAGE=en:el:en
export LC_NUMERIC=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_TIME=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_MONETARY=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_PAPER=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_NAME=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_ADDRESS=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_TELEPHONE=en_GR.UTF-8
export LC_MEASUREMENT=en_GR.UTF-8

As far as I know, en_GR.UTF-8 is not a valid entry. A severe loss of
functionality is that accents cannot be set properly to greek vowels.
Changing manually setlocale.sh to:

export LANG=el_GR.UTF-8
export LANGUAGE=en:el:en
export LC_NUMERIC=el_GR.UTF-8

[Bug 1317201] Re: Enterprise Login not working out of the box in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

2014-05-25 Thread Tito Brasolin
Well, it turns out that joining Ubuntu 14.04 to Active Directory Domain using
realmd is not an easy task.
This tutorial worked for me:
stephenfritz.blogspot.it/2014/04/linux-microsoft-active-directory_28.html

The key point is inserting # to comment out the statement:

[Bug 1318951] Re: kernel update fails with /boot on FAT32

2014-05-25 Thread Max Bruckner
Am I understanding it correctly that the package script is trying to
create a symlink ( I am not that familiar with how Debian packages work,
so I haven't looked at it myself )? If this is the case, wouldn't it be
possible to fix this bug by not creating links on filesystems that don't
support them?

[Bug 1322969] [NEW] systemd socket activation support for libmilter

2014-05-25 Thread Mikhail Gusarov
Public bug reported:

Attached patch adds systemd-like socket activation support to libmilter
by allowing to specify fd:N socket name in smfi_setconn. Please apply
it so milters in both Debian and Ubuntu can use the same systemd unit
with socket activation.

It is applied in Debian sendmail = 8.14.4-6.

[Bug 1297248] Re: Wait timeout for systemd-udevd worker process is too short

2014-05-25 Thread Martin Pitt
Can you please explain in more detail (perhaps with an example) how the
kthread_create() change affects the killing of RUN/IMPORT rules? udev
has always behaved that way to guard against hanging RUN programs. The
boot can take much longer than 30 seconds, just every single RUN action
should be much, much faster (otherwise it's written in a wrong way). In
fact I consider 30 seconds way too overgenerous.

Thanks!

[Bug 1322974] [NEW] Eog doesn't have permission to save on a samba share

2014-05-25 Thread .cobnet
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce the bug:
-) I've mounted a samba share with Nautilus. I needed to provide login and
password to be able to access it.
-) I could access it with eog (Eye of Gnome) to view pictures.
-) But I needed to rotate an image and when I tried to save it, I got an error:

Could not save image 'filename'.
You do not have the permissions necessary to save the file.

This is strange, because I can rename filenames, copy new files, delete
files,... from within Nautilus.

Workaround: open the same image with Gimp, rotate and overwrite
'filename' and this works. That's why I believe the bug is in eog.

Extra information:
-) the samba share comes from an OpenMediaVault system, which uses
2:3.5.6~dfsg-3squeeze11 as samba server.
-) my 14.04 system is up-to-date.
-) I also tried it on an Ubuntu 13.10, but I had the same problem :-(.

[Bug 1320516] Re: KMail folder archive unusable

2014-05-25 Thread Andreas Tetzner
It seems the problem is, that /usr/bin/akonadi_folderarchive_agent is missing.
According to a google search result (unfortunately there is no cached version
of the site available but only the site preview on the google search result
list), this file should be in the kmail package, but is actually missing. But
in this package, there is a file
/usr/share/akonadi/agents/folderarchiveagent.desktop which makes it obvious,
that the akonadi_folderarchive_agent should be included in this package.
I also searched the Kubuntu Backports ppa for several Ubuntu releases, but
none of them includes the akonadi_folderarchive_agent in the kmail package.
Possibly this is an error in the build scripts, causing this program to either
not get built at all or not to get included in the deb package.

[Bug 1165590] Re: Unable to adjust backlight brightness after upgrade to raring - Asus UX32VD

2014-05-25 Thread oliver
Been using 14.04 for a few days, maybe 2 weeks now, and initially it
worked fine.

After suspending for a day today however (no updates installed) gsd-
backlight-helper now targets acpi_video0 instead of intel_backlight
which results in not functinoal backlight. /usr/bin/intel_backlight
works as before, but I'd expect that gsd-backlight-helper would use some
smarts to pick a backlight or atleast allow it to be configurable?

Long story short, gsd-backlight-helper seems to not consistently pick the
correct backlight.
Or
acpi_video0 isn't linked to intel_backlight?

This on a macbook pro 13 retina (11,1)

Public bug reported:

dosfsck is unable to repair FS and kernel show this warning:

FAT-fs (sdc1): Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be
corrupt. Please run fsck.

This problem happends when 3.8+ kernel does not properly umount fat
partion. For fixing this problem dosfstools v3.0.14+ is needed. See:
https://lkml.org/lkml/2013/5/6/342

Because in precise is only version 3.0.12-1ubuntu1.1, it cannot repair

[Bug 1303736] Re: Black screen after wakeup from suspending by closing the laptop lid

2014-05-25 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
Ok, thanks everyone for testing!

With respect to all the other issues, xfce4-power-manager hasn't been
maintained upstream for 2 years and we just started fixing it up a
bit...

The bug-status here will be updated, once the package/update is available in
Trusty normally.
(The process is a bit bureaucratical and lengthy, need to upload it to Utopic
first, then SRU back to Trusty)

Re: [Bug 1270184] Re: [Fujitsu LIFEBOOK AH544] Touchpad not found

2014-05-25 Thread Markus Warken
Hello Christopher,

I just had a look at the mentioned BIOS update and the following
functionality will be provided:

BIOS Version History: Current BIOS V. 1.15: Solved problems:
- Change CPU thermal management
- Disable SATA Aggressive Link Power.
- Fix Fan speed will always high after 3Dmark 11 running.
- Fix problem with Toshiba HDD Aquarious-BKnown errors, problems and
restrictions:
- None

That does not sound as if it would fix my problems with the touchpad and
in fact the touchpad works under Windows. I am pretty sure that the
problem is on Linux side and my personal wild guess is that there is a
new IF to the driver.

Viele Grüße,
Markus Warken

[Bug 1247736] Re: nvidia-opencl-icd-* should not conflicts/replaces on opencl-icd

2014-05-25 Thread Graham Inggs
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ Users with proprietary Nvidia graphics drivers are unable to co-install CUDA
and OpenCL applications.
+ The patches in comment #21 and #22 backport the fix from Utopic and resolve
this issue by allowing nvidia-opencl-icd-* (Nvidia's OpenCL ICD) to be
co-installed with ocl-icd-libopencl1 (the generic OpenCL ICD loader).
+
+ [Test Case]
+ sudo apt-get install nvidia-331 or sudo apt-get install nvidia-331-updates
(does not require an Nvidia graphics card)
+ sudo apt-get install python-pycuda
+ sudo apt-get install python-pyopencl
+
+ This will result in the error message below.
+
+ The following packages have unmet dependencies:
+ python-pyopencl : Depends: libopencl-1.1-1
+Depends: libopencl-1.2-1
+Depends: ocl-icd-libopencl1 but it is not going to be
installed
+ E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
+
+ A similar conflict exists between wine and nvidia-cuda-toolkit.
+
+ sudo apt-get install nvidia-331 or sudo apt-get install nvidia-331-updates
(does not require an Nvidia graphics card)
+ sudo apt-get install wine
+ sudo apt-get install nvidia-cuda-toolkit
+
+ This will result in a warning similar to the one below.
+
+ The following extra packages will be installed:
+ nvidia-libopencl1-331 nvidia-opencl-dev
+ The following packages will be REMOVED:
+ ocl-icd-libopencl1 ocl-icd-libopencl1:i386 wine wine1.6 wine1.6-amd64
+ wine1.6-i386:i386
+ The following NEW packages will be installed:
+ nvidia-cuda-toolkit nvidia-libopencl1-331 nvidia-opencl-dev
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ This fix only affects the relationships between packages and should not
introduce any new bugs. However, since packages that were previously difficult
to install together will now be co-installable, new bugs in those packages may
be exposed.
+
+ [Other Info]
+ It is possible to work around this issue by first installing the CUDA
application, then installing ocl-icd-opencl-dev, and finally installing the
OpenCL application. (See comment #7)

[Bug 1287725] Re: SVN crashes on svn:// login with: svn assert failure

2014-05-25 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
It was a long time ago but if I remember correct it appeared to be a
server problem which causes the dump at the client side.

So the message is being given if the repository can not be reached.
(Same thing will happen if you try to checkout from a server which does
not run subversion).

bDefinitely a user-error, but especially considering the likeliness of
this error it should rather result in a nice user message instead of
this core dump. /b
