[Bug 1323274] Re: Restore Debian's init.d script for insserv compatibility

2014-05-27 Thread David Henningsson
 /etc/init.d/mpd:# Should-Start: autofs $network $named alsa-utils pulseaudio
 avahi-daemon
 But there is no /etc/init.d/alsa-utils in the Ubuntu package.

Not exactly sure what this means, is this related to the relatively new daemon
functionality of alsactl?
So far we have avoided starting that daemon by default because (by my
judgement) the overhead of having yet another daemon everywhere weighs heavier
than the minimal functionality it provides in very few configurations.

2014-05-27 Thread Martin Pitt
Hey David,

David Henningsson [2014-05-27  6:42 -]:

 starting that daemon by default because (by my judgement) the

Sorry, this probably was confusing to everyone except Dimitri and me.
The goal here is merely to make Ubuntu compatible to insserv. In
particular, any declared LSB dependency in our init.d scripts actually
needs to exist. But we don't want to change actual behaviour, i. e. in
this case we will put back the alsa-utils init.d script for insserv to
be able to compute dependencies, but we'll also add an alsa-utils
upstart job which is a no-op (similar to the systemd alsa-utils unit
which is also just a /dev/null).

mythtv-status' dependency to motd is only a Should, which won't
break the dependency calculation. So no need to change anything here and
carry around a delta.

Maybe, but these have a tendency to come back through syncs and
merges. We'll have an overall lower data if we just stop dropping the
init.d scripts and make sure that our init.d and upstart jobs are
Debian policy compliant.

[Bug 1322441] Re: QEMU Windows guest unstable after random amount of time

2014-05-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
@penalvch, I'd suggest that since booting with the old 3.2 kernel
prevented this bug, this bug should still be marked as affecting the
kernel.

Lowering priority to medium since there is a workaround (technically 2)

[Bug 1323704] [NEW] main.cf silently modified during postfix 2.9.1-4 upgrade on 12.04LTS

2014-05-27 Thread Raubvogel
Public bug reported:

Postfix 2.9.6-1~12.04.1 on Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS

I did apt-get upgrade to the host in question and found out that
/etc/postfix/main.cf was silently changed (I was not asked to
validateverify changes)

(/var/log/apt/term.log)
Setting up mail-stack-delivery (1:2.0.19-0ubuntu2.1) ...^M
Mail stack delivery changes some postfix settings.^M
Old values are stored in /var/backups/mail-stack-delivery/main.cf-backup.^M
Feel free to revert any of them when the process is done.^M
Configuring postfix for mail-stack-delivery integration:

Change summary:

1. It decided to change my tls files to default values

smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/ssl/private/ssl-mail.key
smtpd_tls_cert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/ssl-mail.pem

2. It deleted entries in smtpd_recipient_restrictions

diff /etc/postfix/main.cf /tmp/main.cf
45c45,56
 smtpd_recipient_restrictions = reject_unknown_sender_domain,
reject_unknown_recipient_domain, reject_unauth_pipelining, permit_mynetworks,

 smtpd_sasl_authenticated_header = yes
 smtpd_sasl_local_domain = $myhostname
 smtpd_sender_restrictions = reject_unknown_sender_domain
 mailbox_command = /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -c
/etc/dovecot/conf.d/01-mail-stack-delivery.conf -m ${EXTENSION}
 smtpd_tls_mandatory_protocols = SSLv3, TLSv1
 smtpd_tls_mandatory_ciphers = medium

and changed the command used by postfix to pass emails to dovecot. Note
that before I had a command similar to the mailbox_comand but in
/etc/postfix/main.cf,

   flags=DRhu user=virtual:virtual argv=/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver  -c
/etc/dovecot/conf.d/01-dovecot-postfix.conf -f ${sender} -d ${recipient}

Which was then rewritten as

  flags=DRhu user=virtual:virtual argv=/usr/lib/dovecot/dovecot-lda  -c
/etc/dovecot/conf.d/01-mail-stack-delivery.conf -f ${sender} -d
${recipient}

as dovecot-lda replaces deliver for dovecot 2.X. Incidentally, deliver
is now an alias to dovecot-lda,

ls -lh /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 May 14 14:24 /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver - dovecot-lda

probably as a stopgap until people change their configs.

3. There are a few more additions done to main.cf but they do not seem
to be bad, so I am going to brush over them.

So, why was the file changed without warning? Were some of the options
I used -- reject_rbl_client comes to mind -- deprecated? Still that does
not warrant a silent change.

[Bug 1323704] Re: main.cf silently modified during postfix 2.9.1-4 upgrade on 12.04LTS

2014-05-27 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

It looks like you have the mail-stack-delivery package installed, which
is designed to alter postfix's configuration as declared in the package
description: This package modifies postfix's configuration to integrate
with dovecot.

If you do not want to have your postfix configuration automatically
managed, then why do you have mail-stack-delivery installed?

Marking this bug as Invalid, as I think the behaviour you describe is by
design. If this is not correct, please explain and then change the bug
status back to New. Thanks!

[Bug 1319817] Re: dovecot 2.2.9-1ubuntu2 misses init script to start

2014-05-27 Thread Robie Basak
Since Ubuntu uses upstart, the correct interface to manage services is
with the service command, not by calling init.d scripts directly.

dovecot in Trusty is managed by an upstart script. This is defined in
/etc/init/dovecot.conf. That /etc/init.d/dovecot doesn't exist is by
design, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid. If you disagree, please
explain and change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1323758] [NEW] Mouse stops working when connected usb-storage-device

2014-05-27 Thread Ruben Portier
Public bug reported:

I'm running a guest that has Windows 8 Pro (x64) installed. Every time I
pass through a usb storage device from the host to the guest, the mouse
stops working in the vnc client. When I remove the usb-device the mouse
works again.

The mouse only stops working when I pass through a usb storage device
and then make the vlc viewer (client) inactive by clicking on another
program on the local computer (where I'm running the vnc viewer
(client)). As long as I keep the vnc viewer active, the mouse works
without any problems. But as soon as I make the vnc viewer inactive and
then active again, the mouse will no longer work. I have to reboot the
guest or remove the usb storage device.

I can't find any related problems on the internet, so it may be just me?

I hope someone can help me with this.

[Bug 1316475] Re: [SRU] CloudSigma DS for causes hangs when serial console present

2014-05-27 Thread Ben Howard
** Description changed:

- DHCPDISCOVER on eth2 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 3 (xid=0x7e777c23)
+ SRU Justification
+
+ Impact: The Cloud Sigma Datasource read and writes to /dev/ttyS1 if
+ present; the Datasource does not have a time out. On non-CloudSigma
+ Clouds or systems w/ /dev/ttyS1, Cloud-init will block pending a
+ response, which may never come. Further, it is dangerous for a default
+ datasource to write blindly on a serial console as other control plane
+ software and Clouds use /dev/ttyS1 for communication.
+
+ Fix: The patch disables Cloud Sigma by default.
+
+ Verification:
+ 1. Purge Cloud-init
+ 2. Install from -proposed
+ 3. Look in /etc/cloud/cloud.d/90_dpkg.cfg, and confirm CloudSigma is not in
the list of datasources.
+
+ Regression: The risk is low, except on CloudSigma targets which try to
+ use new images generated with the new Cloud-init version.

[Bug 1303986] Re: [FFe] CloudSigma Datasource doesn't handle vendor-data correctly

2014-05-27 Thread Ben Howard
** Description changed:

- Cloud Sigma has asked that we update the DataSource in Cloud-init to
- support the 14.04 VendorData construct. The regression potential for
- this change is low, as only the cloud-init Cloud-Sigma datasource is
- changed, a test suite has been provided and it has been tested by Cloud
- Sigma.
+ SRU Justificaton:
+ This SRU fulfills the FFE exception granted.
+
+
+ Cloud Sigma has asked that we update the DataSource in Cloud-init to support
the 14.04 VendorData construct. The regression potential for this change is
low, as only the cloud-init Cloud-Sigma datasource is changed, a test suite has
been provided and it has been tested by Cloud Sigma.

  The reason for this late-in-the-cylce change is so that Cloud Sigma can
  have use the official Ubuntu Images with out conflating user and vendor-
  data. Currently Cloud Sigma uses the user-data channel improperly for
  transmitting vendor specific information to Cloud-init, when they should
  be using the vendor-data channel. By switching to the proper channel for
  vendor specific information, user-data and vendor-data will not be
  mangled, preventing collisions of user-data and vendor-specific data.

  [ORIGINAL BUG REPORT]
  It appears as the CloudSigma datasource only has support for 'user-data', and
not 'vendor-data.'

[Bug 1323387] Re: Auth Request module does not seem to be loaded in the extras package

2014-05-27 Thread Thomas Ward
Based on the package description for nginx-extras in the control file in
Trusty (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/trusty/nginx/trusty/view/head:/debian/control), there is
no listing for the Auth Request module. This seems to be supported by
the rules file that governs building this package
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/trusty/nginx/trusty/view/head:/debian/rules#L123).

Where did you see this being in the package description?

[Bug 1316475] Re: [SRU] CloudSigma DS for causes hangs when serial console present

2014-05-27 Thread Scott Moser
We're looking at this. The general rule in cloud-init should be
enabled by default if and only if there is no negative side effects.
The one exception is the EC2 metadata service (it polls and has very
annoying timeouts). However, its generally configured to be last, so
all others have failed at that point.

We'll see if there is some way we can determine that we're running on
CloudSigma and if so, then block on ttyS1. If not, go on quickly.

juju add-machine --constraints mem=3G cpu-cores=3 root-disk=20G
has a huge delay in agent-state pending especially when the kvm is up and
running in fairly short order

kvm comes up in ~1 minutes, agent-status is stuck in pending for at
least another 8-9 minutes after that

hazmat danwest, its normally async to actually coming up based on
pinger/heartbeat.. but that length of time sounds like a worst case..

Since we are upgrading WALinuxAgent from 1.3.2 to 2.0.5 for Precise, I
want to be absolutely sure that this safe, so I spent the better part of
day testing, retesting and confirming that this is safe.

Uploaded 2.0.5 for 12.04 and 14.04.

** Description changed:

  SRU Justification

+ IMPACT:
+ WALinuxAgent 1.3.2 lacks features and bug fixes; these features and fixes are

  For 14.04, the current code base is 2.0.4; 2.0.5 is largely a selection
  of bug fixes. The current extension handlers are not robust and may leak
  and exception, causing the agent to crash mid boot. For example there
  are several fixes for catching errors in plugin handling.

  TEST CASES
  New Image
  Ā * Build new image from -proposed, confirm that it boots
  Ā * Boot new instance w/ user-data
  Ā Ā Ā - confirm cloud-init consumed user-data

  Ā * Rebundle instance, confirm that new rebundling works
  Ā * Upgrade 12.04 to 14.04, reboot. Confirm that instance comes up

  REGRESSION POTENTIAL:
  There is some risk of regression potential. MS has confirmed that that 2.0.5
has been thoroughly tested by MS on 12.04. However, for 12.04 it is a shift
from 1.3.2 series to 2.0.5.

  For 14.04, the regession potential lower, as the changes are bug fixes

  ORIGINAL REPORT:
  This is a request from Microsoft to please update the walinuxagent package
for Ubuntu 12.04 from v1.3.2 to the latest WALinuxAgent 2.0.5.

  The Microsoft team has implemented new features and bugfixes into the
  2.0 branch that will not be backported to the 1.x branch. The most
  important of these is the support for extension handlers on Azure, which
  will be a widely used and compelling feature for Azure moving forward.

[Bug 1260112] Re: [Dell Latitude E6540] CPU stuck on minimum frequency after resume from suspend and unplugged

2014-05-27 Thread domink
The same issue occurs when the laptop is installed with Windows 7.

I think that it is not related with SO but with some BIOS feature.

This laptop requires its own AC unit with 130W. If you use a lower power
supply (but DELL also), the CPU performanc goes bellow 800Mgh.

But... I suspect a bug on this routine becasue time to time, after
resuming the laptop... I have found that the CPU speed is not recovered.

To solve it, I unplug the power supply and plug again.

[Bug 1286021] Re: 2.1 surround support (userspace)

2014-05-27 Thread David Henningsson
 pulseaudio assume surround21 is four channels

For PulseAudio, surround21 is now three channels. It's mapped to four
channels in alsa-lib, exactly which four channels is based on chmap
information from the kernel.

 Does it mean that test with 5.1 downmix to surround21 ?

Yes I believe 5.1 would be downmixed to 2.1.

[Bug 1323493] [NEW] Sync mercurial 3.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-05-27 Thread Jackson Doak
Public bug reported:

Please sync mercurial 3.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * debian/tests/control:
- Add allow-stderr restriction to testsuite as it prints out a Tested
  with unexpected mercurial lib: warning.
- Disable hgsubversion test as it needs access to anonscm.debian.org which
  we don't have in Ubuntu CI.
Appear to be fixed in debian. Will we need a transition for this?

Changelog entries since current utopic version 2.8.2-1ubuntu1:

mercurial (3.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * Rever breaks of hgsubversion to versions prior to 1.6
  * Upload to unstable

 -- Javi Merino vi...@debian.org  Fri, 02 May 2014 08:33:00 +0100

mercurial (3.0~rc1-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * Don't explicitly change the python interpreter in debian/rules, it's
already handled by dh_python2
  * Drop patch deb_specific__fix_hg-ssh_interpreter.patch as dh_python2
fixes the interpreter for us
  * Fix fatal: empty ident name (for ba...@jungle.org) not allowed
error in the mercurial-git autopkgtest
  * Blacklist test-patchbomb from the testsuite autopkgtest as it is
known to fail
  * Don't install tmplrewrite.py in examples any more. It was useful
for the 1.3 transition, but no longer relevant
  * Mercurial 3.0 breaks current hgsubversion (1.6)

 -- Javi Merino vi...@debian.org  Sat, 19 Apr 2014 18:53:34 +0100

mercurial (2.9.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Javi Merino ]
  * New upstream release
  * Fix please downgrade 'wish' Recommends to Suggests by removing the

[Bug 1321777] Re: Split greeter shows three batteries entries on manta

2014-05-27 Thread Charles Kerr
mterry, I don't have the scrollback handy, but the upower dump that you
provided in irc showed that upower actually /was/ reporting three
batteries, so indicator-power is passing that along.

Maybe we could put some heuristics into indicator-power for guessing
when multiple upower devices are actually the same device, but that runs
the risk of new bugs folding genuine devices together too.

IMO this would be better handled at the upower level.
