[Bug 1224732] Re: Custom default keyboard shortcuts don't work
@Martin, I am not going to get involved in an argument, I am only trying to help. I suspect the reason this bug is no longer getting attention is that the devs looked at it months ago and since the bug as described (custom shortcuts not working) was no longer showing itself they have lost interest and unsubscribed from the bug. My suggestion to open a new bug describing succinctly the problem you are seeing was not for my benefit it was for yours. [Bug 1326885] Re: desktop start rotated
I won't report again with latest kernel because (from my experience) I do not expect it to be solved (or that it solved because of people reporting bugs), but I still provide the following information to save the time for those who wish to find a workaround - I do not know a workaround, but I know the following would not work: The following methods would not prevent the desktop to rotate automatically after login: - delete /lib/udev/accelerometer - comment out the only line in /lib/udev/rules.d/61-accelerometer.rules Since the rotate-after-login does not alter input matrix, which is still horizental, touch-screen will be useless right after login, until you rotate the screen back (with xrandr -o randr). If, instead of preventing auto-rotate-after-login, you wish to rotate input matrix as well to make the machine at least usable, the following command would not work: $ xinput set-prop 9 --type=float Coordinate Transformation Matrix 0 -1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 The effect of that command is zero: input matrix remain the same (horizental) while the screen is auto-rotated to vertical. If you wish to study the issue, a starting point is the accelerometer device, which can be found in /proc/bus/input/devices Find out the event device (in my case event4) then you can find out which driver drives it by: $ cat /sys/devices/platform/asus_laptop/input/input4/device/driver -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1326885 Title: desktop start rotated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1326885/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1338224] [NEW] screen tearing on nvidia hybrid graphics
Public bug reported: Info Ubuntu 14.04 Asus K95VJ Hybrid graphics (Intel and Nvidia GT 635M) Recommended 331.38 drivers I've been experiencing video tearing everywhere in Ubuntu 14.04, whether it be just while moving windows or watching videos. The system is up to date and I use the recommended Nvidia 331.38 drivers installed via Additional Drivers. I tried every fix out there I could find, but none worked - the screen tearing is still all over the place. However, when switching to Intel (with PRIME option in Nvidia settings), the tearing is no longer there. Unfortunately I cannot use only Intel graphics as I do graphically heavy tasks. I have also noticed that Nvidia settings does not remember me setting screen resolution to 1920x1080, but rather resets it to 960x540 each time I reboot the notebook (though visually, the screen remains at 1920x1080, but when moving cursor to the right edge of the screen, it acts as there is more screen space to the monitor, and leaves the screen completely). Also, each time I have to re-set the resolution to the proper one, it asks me to Auto Fix or Ignore some monitor settings. One more thing I noticed in Compiz settings is that it resets Refresh Rate to 50 on each reboot, even though I set it to 60. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1338224 Title: screen tearing on nvidia hybrid graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1338224/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1308348] Re: network settings indicator missing from panel
Hi, In an Ubuntu Trusty home made with the mini.iso and a full Openbox environment, I also met with a missing nm-applet indicator along with a bug being the wired network working only just after boot, but never coming back when disconnected and reconnected during a X session. I had also met it in a Live Lubuntu Trusty booted from USB on a eeepc where besides the wireless was working fine (but not the wired connection, when the wireless was used first, and wired added after, even if wireless would be deactivated). I fixed it in my Openbox branded version by modifying the content of the /etc/network/interfaces as shown here, in that bug report which is said to be a duplicate of here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1301158/comments/12 I just switched the interfaces file with the one from my Ubuntu Precise install. I see in the comments above, it has also been talked about update- notifier : indeed, it does not work start in Trusty with Openbox here either, and I think it should show. Are there other bug reports elsewhere related to the start of update- notifier? [Bug 12154] Re: Nautilus should have a superuser mode
This is a very difficult issue because it amounts to a fairly major feature change underneath. Every access has to be wrapped by a permissions check, followed by an authentication. Someone tried to patch this into the file manager a while back, but the patch never got approved. The real bug is the GNOME bug. That's where most of the work happens, and that's where this bug has been prioritized out of scope for years. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12154 Title: Nautilus should have a superuser mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/12154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
