[Bug 1341260] [NEW] Sync netifaces 0.10.4-0.1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-07-13 Thread Jackson Doak
Public bug reported:

Please sync netifaces 0.10.4-0.1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * New upstream release.
  * Updated docs.
  * Dropped:
- debian/patches/build-in-python3.3.diff: No longer needed.
  * No change rebuild to drop python3.3 compiled extension.
Fixed in debian

Changelog entries since current utopic version 0.10.4-0ubuntu1:

netifaces (0.10.4-0.1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.

  [ Thomas Goirand ]
  * New upstream release (Closes: #749106).
  * Removed useless XS-Python-Version: = 2.6 and X-Python3-Version: = 3.1.
  * Added extend-diff-ignore = ^[^/]*[.]egg-info/ in debian/source/options.
  * Upstream renamed README into README.rst, updates debian/docs accordingly.
  * Updated Standards-Version: to 3.9.5.
  * Rewrote debian/copyright into parseable format 1.0.
  * Fixed duplicate descriptions in debian/control.
  * Canonical VCS URLs, now using collab-maint.
  * Updated debian/watch file to use pypi.
  * Set the Debian Python Modules Team as maintainer, and Mario myself as
uploaders.

  [ Mario Izquierdo ]
  * Add patch build-in-python3.3.diff (build python3 packages)
(Python 3.x compatibility added by Kevin Kelley kell...@kelleyk.net)
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/netifaces-py3
  * debian/rules: Use new debhelper (dh) instead of cdbs

[Bug 1338277] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 + QEmu 2.0 + KSM = 1, makes Windows 2008 R2 guests to crash (BSOD)

2014-07-13 Thread Thiago Martins
Quoting myself from comment #1:

Also, Windows 7, when with KSM enabled, crashes during the installation, every
time. After disabling KSM, I was able to install and use Windows 7 without any
crash, and with SPICE! So, maybe, with Windows 7 ISO CD in hands, this problem
might be easy to reproduce, while with Windows 2008 R2, it randomly crashes
within ~2 hours...

My old Windows 7 ISO CD (collection) have some incompatibility with new QEmu /
Linux, after download it again, from Micro$oft.com (file name:
7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_enterprise_en-us_EVAL_Eval_Enterprise-GRMCENXEVAL_EN_DVD.iso),
Windows 7 isn't crashing anymore on QEmu 2.0, it works now.

But, KSM is still disabled. I can not enable KSM anymore because it
crashes...

Best,
Thiago

[Bug 1341247] [NEW] Show desktop hides windows but allows me to move, resize and close them

2014-07-13 Thread VeVe
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and I've added the Show Desktop icon to the
Launcher (Configure System Appearence Behaviour tab).

If I click it, all the windows will hide from view, showing the desktop.
This is the expected behaviour.

However, the hidden windows are still movable, resizeable and
closable... you have full control over them.

To easily notice this bug, test with non maximized windows (as these
can't be moved, resized... right :) ?)

Best regards

[Bug 1341236] Re: app crashed when trying to parteshen the hard drive

2014-07-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to
install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing
operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using
software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event
that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's
status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1341247] Re: Show desktop hides windows but allows me to move, resize and close them

2014-07-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1341247/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1341254] [NEW] Sync python-chaco 4.4.1-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-07-13 Thread Jackson Doak
Public bug reported:

Please sync python-chaco 4.4.1-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable
(main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining Ubuntu changes:
   - Let the binary-predeb target work on the usr/lib/python* directory
as we don't have usr/share/pyshared anymore.
Fixed in debian

Changelog entries since current utopic version 4.4.1-1ubuntu1:

python-chaco (4.4.1-1.1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Set permissions in /usr/lib/python*, not /usr/share/pyshared

[Bug 1315156] Re: nvidia-331 selected but nouveau loads

2014-07-13 Thread TEN
Also affected on a Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq dc7800p Convertible
Minitower/0AACh, BIOS 786F1 v01.32 07/21/2011 with nvidia GeForce GT 520
board.

Workarounds by Rebecca Palmer at #5 (many thanks!) did not entirely
suffice: Had to additionally add blacklist nouveau to
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf even after sudo apt-get remove nouveau as
well as de- and reselecting the proprietary one from System Settings /
Software Updates / Additional Drivers - which (even while the system
was actually using nouveau) had been shown all the time as Using NVIDIA
binary driver - version 311.38 from nvidia-331 (proprietary, tested)
with a green light for NVIDIA Corporation: GF119 [GeForce GT 520 and
as 1 proprietary driver in use.

Symptoms:

nvidia-settings shows only minimal menu with no information on
monitor(s) or GPU.

prime-select query returns the string unknown rather than nvidia.

/var/log/syslog is flooded with lines (dozens per second) to the tune of
kernel: [ 1195.548660] nouveau W[ PFIFO][:01:00.0] INTR
0x0100: 0x0005.

/var/log/syslog has these lines:
kernel: [ 11.695523] NVRM: The NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1
device(s).
kernel: [ 11.695526] NVRM: This can occur when a driver such as:
kernel: [ 11.695526] NVRM: nouveau, rivafb, nvidiafb or rivatv
kernel: [ 11.695526] NVRM: was loaded and obtained ownership of the NVIDIA
device(s).
kernel: [ 11.695529] NVRM: Try unloading the conflicting kernel module (and/or
kernel: [ 11.695529] NVRM: reconfigure your kernel without the conflicting
kernel: [ 11.695529] NVRM: driver(s)), then try loading the NVIDIA kernel
module
kernel: [ 11.695529] NVRM: again.
kernel: [ 11.695532] NVRM: No NVIDIA graphics adapter probed!
kernel: [ 11.695850] NVRM: NVIDIA init module failed!

nouveau (or possibly just some of the related mode-switching) is
deprecated due to resume issues in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (of which this is a
fresh install)
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2217536s=da1e9ef7ae0c51c40110e1b8e1347b47p=12993037#post12993037
which are resolved only for a few in threads such as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1283938 (cf. #138
et seq. there) that like this one have been all too long-standing in an
Unassigned state.

Remaining issue now that the proprietary nvidia driver finally loads is that
Systems Settings / Sound / Play sound through: HDMI / DisplayPort2: iGF119
HDMI Audio Controller/i works only intermittently and for 2 rather than 5.1
channels.
Any (auto-)tweak for the ELD (captured through the Acquire EDID... button
from the DFP-1 menu of nvidia-settings) to be loaded from file (whichever comes
in place of /etc/X11 these days) rather than by DDC would be very welcome.

[Bug 1269883] Re: 0b95:1790 [Asus N55SF] Bad performance of Asix Ethernet-to-USB device on USB3 port

2014-07-13 Thread gouri
Summary: (1) bug also occurs on Trusty 14.04 (2) we need you (yes, you,
affected by the bug) to help cure it

## Bug reproduced on Trusty

Just tested the same hardware again on kernel 3.13.0-30-generic
#55-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 4 21:40:53 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
GNU/Linux.

Same behavior as already described.

Here's part of lsusb -t

/: Bus 04.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/2p, 5000M
|__ Port 2: Dev 3, If 0, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=ax88179_178a,
5000M
/: Bus 03.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/2p, 480M

situation above (device working in USB3 condition) reproduces the bug
situation below (device working in USB2 condition) works

/: Bus 04.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/2p, 5000M
/: Bus 03.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/2p, 480M

## Contacting upstream

No reply to my e-mail to linux-usb and Freddy Xin dated january 2014:

Sujet: 0b95:1790 [Asus N55SF] Bad performance of Asix Ethernet-to-USB device

It would be a good thing to write again politely. I'm overwhelmed with work, so
if someone affected by the bug may knock again at the list and developer to
establish contact that would be great. For a good start read [Ask a kernel
developer, part 2 [LWN.net]](http://lwn.net/Articles/356890/). It's short and
simple.

Thank you for your attention.

[Bug 1294163] Re: Please update precise nvidia drivers to support 3.13 trusty backport kernel

2014-07-13 Thread Bernhard
Correction:
The workaround, described above, does not solve the problem, black screens
after resume from hibernate again.

Adding pci=nomsi to /etc/default/grub at GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=pci=nomsi seems
to help, no black screens so far.
I'm testing this at the moment.

Furthermore I've tested driver nvidia-
331_331.89-0ubuntu0.0.1~xedgers12.04.1_amd64 from ppa xorg-edgers, but
no success without pci=nomsi.

Precise. It seems, that this issue is not so important from a Developers
points of view. In fact, it is not a security or stability matter,
right?

[Bug 1335613] Re: Bad interaction between code snippets and autocompletion plugin in gedit

2014-07-13 Thread Marc Bagnol
** Description changed:

On ubuntu 14.04 64bits (did not occur in 12.04)
  gedit 3.10.4-0ubuntu4
  gedit-plugins 3.10.1-1ubuntu2

I have activated the completion plugin provided in the
  'EditPreferencePlugins' menu.
When using a code snippet that uses variables to put the same text at various
places, autocompleting this text causes a mess in the snippet.

Example: with the following test snippet

  begin($1) ... end($1)

suppose I start typing 'wh...' in place of $1 and 'while' is proposed
by the autocompletion plugin, then if I press enter, I get something
  like

     begin(whwhilewhwhile)

  instead of

     begin(while) ... end(while)

- Moreover pressing ctrl+c to cancel yiels even messier results.
+ Moreover pressing ctrl+z to cancel yiels even messier results.

[Bug 1341270] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 freezes on resume from suspend: GeForce GT 520 GPU with nouveau or proprietary nvidia-331 drivers, even when booted nosplash noquiet

2014-07-13 Thread TEN
Public bug reported:

Generating individual reports as requested by Chris Bainbridge in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1283938 via
ubuntu-bug linux.

After forcing switch from nouveau to nvidia-331 (a sad story in itself
as the System Settings pretend to handle that:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-331/+bug/1315156) at least apportcheckresume does catch the
issue as attached, but after Continue gives no further indication what
data has been sent where (if at all) and how it may be commented or
complemented, i.e. nothing opens in the browser, only local password
prompt(s).

Sometimes the screen shows a blinking text console mode prompt and the
NumLock key can still turn its LED on and off for a few seconds under
nivida-331 before the machine freezes with fans running after resume,
while nouveau would even permit Ctrl-Alt-F1 occasionally (but then has
other log-flooding issues as indicated at the prior link).

Not being able to resume after suspend has kept my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
installation unusable for 3 months already.
This is a recurring issue already exhibited by 12.04 LTS, affecting numerous
systems even back then (cf. references from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/999638) on kernels
before 3.2.0-25-generic-pae, as well as with Intel graphics - but in spite of
the regression users continue to be isolated into invidiual bugs and sent
through BIOS upgrades and mainline kernel testing while the bugs in spite of
their Heat continue to lack the requisite Importance and Assignment.

- This is a recurring issue already exhibited by 12.04 LTS, affecting numerous
systems even back then (cf. references from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/999638) on kernels
before 3.2.0-25-generic-pae, as well as with Intel graphics - but in spite of
the regression users continue to be isolated into invidiual bugs and sent
through BIOS upgrades and mainline kernel testing while the bugs in spite of
their Heat continue to lack the requisite Importance and Assignment.

[Bug 1304555] Re: MS Sculpt Touch Mouse

2014-07-13 Thread Alex10336
Hello,
Tried today with:
http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/utopic-desktop-i386.iso
f138de94e251f50f2a6e8a2683dd167d utopic-desktop-i386.iso

Still not work. Steps:

1) USB Boot on ISO
2) When language selection option appear → pairing device: Ok (set wifi code
too)
3) Click on Try Ubuntu. *waiting*
4) Desktop loaded and mouse still work.
5) Turn Off mouse → wait 2-3sec. → Turn On.
6) Mouse don't move anymore. Bluetooth settings switch on/off (He's trying to
connect)
7) Run a terminal with: $ pkexec hciconfig hci0 sspmode 0
8) Mouse Connected.

Same issue if I turn Off → On bluetooth controller.

Thanks for your message. I hope it will be fixed.

[Bug 1054732] Re: [LENOVO 4298R86] suspend/resume failure

2014-07-13 Thread TEN
Also affected again in 14.04 LTS after this had been fixed by later kernels
of 12.04 LTS:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1341270 filed as requested
in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1283938 but with Peer
Waldström's detailled debug info from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/999638 #18 apparently
falling on deaf ears for years, I see why e.g. at #136 Atul et al. are getting
furious both here and there.

That will have to be a separate request, and won't be done automatically
by this request. In addition, (assuming the initial request is approved)
because there will be security updates in Utopic, someone will have to
probably keep requesting the backport so that previous versions stay
secure.

[Bug 1341275] [NEW] Kernel panic in rtl8821ae on GB-BXi7-4470R

2014-07-13 Thread David Coles
Public bug reported:

After updating the system to linux-image-3.13.0-30-generic (trusty-
updates), the encounters a kernel panic during boot in the rtl8821ae
module. This prevents the system from booting.

This appears to be an issue relating to the mPCI WiFi+BT module (Realtek
Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8821AE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network
Adapter) included with the system.

A workaround is to boot using the older linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic
(trusty).

[Bug 1340721] Re: roxterm-gtk2: the default bold color is white on white in GTK color scheme

2014-07-13 Thread Monsta
Filing a bug under vte category won't help GTK2-based terminals that
use GTK2-based version of vte. The upstream won't fix the bugs in the
version they consider obsolete.

In reply to #8,

I get the part about a separate request. But since 14.04 is LTS,
wouldn't security updates be automatically applicable for the duration
of the LTS?

[Bug 1341279] [NEW] Num Lock turned off when log-in page shown

2014-07-13 Thread Phill
Public bug reported:

Whenever the log-in page shows, num lock is turned off.

It's OK when unlocking, the state is preserved, it's just on start-up or
after a log-out.

To reproduce either turn on Num Lock then log-out, or set Num Lock on in
the BIOS (as I do) and start the machine.

[Bug 1341280] [NEW] compiz forgets/resets my commands

2014-07-13 Thread Alan Pope ㋛
Public bug reported:

Open CCSM - Commands
Set a custom command in there, with a key bound to it
This works fine.
Time passes, command no longer works, it's missing from CCSM, so I re-set set
it up.

I've not quite figured if it's a reboot / restart of session which triggers it
or a software update which I install, as I don't often reboot.

[Bug 1297065] Re: [needs-packaging]openjdk-8 in ubuntu

2014-07-13 Thread Saikrishna Arcot
Security updates would apply, but I don't think this would be considered
a security update, since this is an entirely new version and this source
package (openjdk-8) isn't present in 14.04.

As always, an exception might be made since 14.04 has to live for the
next 5 years, assuming the build dependencies can be brought down
somehow.
