[Bug 1095180] Re: incorrect bash-completion for sudo
It's a corner case of a directory in the current directory having the same name as a command. The directory entry is superseding the command completion. If you sudo ettab you get a list of completions. In /etc, the only entry for etckeeper is with a trailing /, rather than having an entry for the command AND an entry for the directory. If you are cded to somewhere without an etckeeper directory present, etckeeper is fine. This happens with completion for any commands flagged to take another command as their first argument. simple testcase: mkdir apt-g{,et} nice apt-gtab = lists apt-g/ apt-get/ nice apt-getab = nice apt-get/ Probably fixable without disabling completing filenames as a fallback, IDK. _command_offset() is pretty complex, I'm prob. not going to try to fix it myself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to etckeeper in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095180 Title: incorrect bash-completion for sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash-completion/+bug/1095180/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1095180] Re: incorrect bash-completion for sudo
The bug is in the core code of bash_completion, in the functions that handle commands that take other commands as their arguments, e.g. sudo, nice, and so on. Marked invalid for the etckeeper package, but still confirmed for bash-completion. (I hope I'm doing this right. If there's a way to un-assign it from etckeeper altogether, that would be best). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to etckeeper in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095180 Title: incorrect bash-completion for sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash-completion/+bug/1095180/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

reassigning this to mysql. Packages can provide their own completion rules and install them with dh_bash-completion. [Bug 1397501] [NEW] No network after resuming from hibernate
Public bug reported: After resuming from hibernate I have no network connection. This doesn't happen with suspend, only hibernate. I'm guessing this is something with network-manager as doing 'sudo service network-manager restart' fixes the problem. ifconfig shows no eth0 interface but doing 'ifconfig eth0' does return some info.
-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095180 Title: incorrect bash-completion for sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash-completion/+bug/1095180/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Regarding the other two issues, please file a new report, one per issue: 2) Also cannot chose weather it has a code to launch or not, I want it to launch automatically. 3) Also how do you set up a scanner I have allready set up wirelessly and it works well. I have a Cannon Pixma MG 3150. [Bug 1395070] Re: gstreamer-vaapi + nvidia driver causes firefox to crash on animated gifs / video tags
Joe Barnett, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 403717] Re: tab-completion for kill builtin slightly lacking.
I don't think numerical sorting is possible. _kill() is getting its list of pids from ps axo pid= which returns a numerically sorted list, but I guess bash is lexicographically sorting completions like it always does. It would be possible to add completion for %jobnum, but would you really use that? It could only return a list of job numbers, not what commands they were. Given that job numbers tend to be very small and nearby, if you don't know what job you want to kill, a list of the numbers is unlikely to save you running a quick jobs command. Or do some people keep running a chain of background jobs so their job numbers climb so high that you want to complete the initial 100 in front of job 1005? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/403717 Title: tab-completion for kill builtin slightly lacking. [Bug 1134535] Re: dlocate filename commpletition
/etc/bash_completion.d/dlocate-completion is in dlocate, not bash_completion. Also, dlocate should use dh_bash-completion when building itself, so the completions will go in the new spot: /usr/share/bash- completion/completions /usr/share/doc/bash-completion/README.Debian Anyway, back to this bug. yeah, might not be a bad idea to have the default completion be _filedir, rather than options. [Bug 1394401] Re: Upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04 failed
Georg Pfeifer, thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Lucid Desktop reached EOL on May 9, 2013. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases . If an upgrade would be possible for you, you will need to uninstall any PPAs and proprietary software packages (ex. nvidia), as well as remove the sources for any PPAs, prior to attempting an upgrade. If this doesn't work, you will want to backup your data, and do a new install of a supported release via http://releases.ubuntu.com/ . Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find. QkiZ, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc6 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. [Bug 1170647] Re: After minimizing an external media, clicking on the Files icon on the Launcher doesn't restore the minimized window, but opens a new one
The problem here is that the Ubuntu developers decided that when you click the file manager icon, your home folder should open. So, when the trash (or a device) is open, clicking the file manager icon opens a new window with the home folder. Even Mark Shuttleworth said that's the intended behavior: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/769515/comments/3 This traded one usability problem by another! When only the trash in open, for example, the file manager icon is also highlighted, and Unity indicates with two arrows that the file manager is open and focused. Also, the windows is minimized/restored to/from that icon. If this behavior is to be kept, these issues should be fixed because they are very misleading. Or just revert the behavior! If you put the cursor over the file manager icon, the tooltip says Files, not Home Folder. So, why would the user expect that this icon is used only to open the home folder? My vote goes to reverting this behavior (someone provided a patch already). Just my humble opinion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170647 Title: After minimizing an external media, clicking on the Files icon on the Launcher doesn't restore the minimized window, but opens a new one To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1170647/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
