I get an similar error when using chromium with the latest Ubunu 14.04.1
LTS with the LTS-Trusty Kernel (3.16.0-28). The file

I've also a Asus N550JK with a
05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411
PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 0c)
With standard installation of Ubuntu 14.04.1 the ethernet card is NOT working.
Nevertheless I did try 3.16.7-031607-generic and
I can import QtMultimedia from PyQt4 (/python 2) under Windows and Mac but not
Ubuntu, and from PyQt5 (/python 3) also under Ubuntu. So for me it seems a bug.
Anyway, what should be the fix to use it with PyQt4 (/python 2) on Ubuntu,
instead to make 'from PyQt4 import QtMultimedia'?

disable n on your laptop via setting the following in
/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf :

the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are
irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)

When applying the updates on my Ubuntu Utopic installation I received the new
3.16.0-28 kernel.
The computer had no problems with the Utopic kernels before ( up to 3.16.0-26),
but now it suddenly won't give any output (via HDMI) when booting. I don't get
