I started experiencing this error recently. In my HP pavilion laptop,
Ubuntu freezes all of a sudden and becomes unusable that I need to
restart the machine. I could see the below errors in syslog that are
logged exactly when the freeze happens:

Just confirmed that this is indeed fixed in the 20150218 deskop amd64
daily ISO.
Also confirmed this fix works when doing an OEM install, which I didn't
test previously for lack of an easy to use live environment.

The HDR+flash mode pre-flash also helped with red-eye reduction, by
constricting pupils.
So, it's nice that the UI reflects that the flash won't be enabled
during exposure, but as a side effect it also breaks the most reliable
method of getting good-quality indoor photos. The pre-flash helps with
FWIW, this fix breaks a use case which worked before. It is no longer
possible to use the flash to help the camera focus the image before
taking an HDR pic.
Pre-image focus light should probably be its own option instead of being
entagled in the during-exposure flash setting, but I thought I shou
