[Bug 1406825] Re: xscreensaver complains This version of xscreensaver is VERY OLD!
Firas, you seem to be under the misimpression that you need the latest version to avoid this warning message. That is not true at all. You only need a version that is not quite old. The version that you get in 14.10 was not the current version of Xscreensaver (or even close to it) when 14.10 was frozen. Of course, the real problem here is that whoever volunteers to package this for universe did not update it any time recently. It's hard to complain about volunteer work, but the fact remains that the age of the package unnecessarily created a problem even for non-LTS users (for LTS users, the age of the package would be understandable). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406825 Title: xscreensaver complains This version of xscreensaver is VERY OLD! If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. [Bug 1329741] Re: After the update for version 14.04 the PC is rare,
Pedro Ortiz, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and it does nothing, you may be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash Please follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1330128] Re: Enabling 'radeon.dpm=1' kernel parameter makes Xorg full crash
Ḷḷumex03, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1330128 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1327644] Re: Return from suspend mode in 14.04 LTS does not display logon screen
Michael E. Slowinski, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Hartley Jean-Aimee, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04 /product-support/product/precision-t3500/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A17). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Jonas Olson, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . [Bug 1331997] Re: ???? i dont no
Daniel Gußmann, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 977067] Re: package octave3.2 3.2.4-12 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I am unable to reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 12.04 by removing and reinstalling the octave3.2 package. I notice that you have the fglrx package installed. This package should be providing the libGL.so.1 library that appears to be missing on your system. Something might be missing or misconfigured on your system. If you still see this error occurring, what is the complete output of the following command: $ ldconfig -p | grep libGL.so.1 Does uninstalling and reinstalling the fglrx package fix or change anything? ** Changed in: octave3.2 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/977067 Title: package octave3.2 3.2.4-12 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/octave3.2/+bug/977067/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1424123] Re: Need to update for XFS crc=1 (non-default) on-disk format change
This will get fixed upstream at some point for sure, so having the bug here is probably only useful as a reminder to check that we have an updated-enough GRUB before the next release, or next LTS release at worst. ** Description changed: Filing a note here in case I forget later. It looks like GRUB (2.02-beta2-15) in 14.10 doesn't support XFS's new on-disk metadata format that has CRCs. (rationale: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/filesystems/xfs-self- describing-metadata.txt) mkfs.xfs -m crc=1,finobt=1 /dev/sdXY creates an XFS with the new on- disk format. This is NOT the default, and probably won't be until kernel support for it has been in distros for a while. - redhat bug with some patches from Dec 2014: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1001279 I haven't yet dug up any changelogs about those patches getting merged into GRUB's upstream git repo. If there's a PPA, or an easy way to build a .deb from git master (or some other way I can easily test git master on an Ubuntu system), I'd be interested and willing to test this. + Testing confirms that xfs crc support was the issue. I made two plain + non-MD partitions to take that out of the equation. I formatted one + with XFS defaults, and the other with XFS crc. I copied my fresh ubuntu + install into each one. I did grub-install /dev/sda while chrooted into + the non-crc xfs, and grub-install /dev/sdb in the CRC one. Booting from + sda worked fine. - (It's possible I'm mistaken here, and my boot problem was from using RAID10,f2, rather than from XFS with crc=1. testing now.) + Booting from sdb (I can tell them apart in the bios boot menu easily, + because they're not the same make), I was dropped into the grub rescue + shell. I could use grub's ls to see data on the non-crc partition, but + not on the crc partition. So it's clear that GRUB doesn't understand + the new XFS metadata v5 format. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424123 Title: Need to update for XFS crc=1 (non-default) on-disk format change To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1424123/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1422305] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From ckuma...@in.ibm.com 2015-02-21 22:05 EDT--- Dave, You are right GNU-fdisk is deprecated/not_maintained, but to my knowledge fdisk.distrib is maintained and shipped with util-linux. fdisk-distrib works fine as far as disk partitioning is concerned, but it creates block device with file names as mpath23-partN, but the expected one is mpath23pN as can be seen in the outputs of kpartx and 'fdisk.distrib -l' Commands 'kpartx' and 'fdisk.distrib -l' reads partition as /dev/mapper/mpath23p1 but actually file created by 'fdisk.distrib' is /dev/mapper/mpath23-part1 So referring to the output of commands kpartx and fdisk.distrib -l (which most scripts do to get partition path list), we can see a failure while trying to create FS on one of the partitions. Which is obvious because fdisk.distrib created the file with different name in directory /dev/mapper while lists it with a different name. Let me know, if this issue makes enough sense? Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1422305 Title: ISST-SAN: failing to create FS on multipath disk partition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnu-fdisk/+bug/1422305/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1329201] Re: Onboard graphics takes priority over card
MicWit, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1329201 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1332932] Re: suspend problem
qrism, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1332932 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1424325] [NEW] ipdb autocompletion not working with locals and modules
Public bug reported: Running a script as `python -m ipdb myscript.py` or 'ipdb myscript.py`, ipdb's tab auto completion will work with builtins, but not with locals and modules. Launching ipdb from within the code with `import ipdb; ipdb.set_trace()` autocompletion works instead as expected. To reproduce the error call a python script with -m ipdb (e.g. python -m ipdb myscript)), import a module (e.g. import numpy as np) and try to use autocomplete on the module (e.g. np.TAB). I see on 2014-05-13 it says: This bug was fixed in the package bcmwl - 6.30.223.141+bdcom-0ubuntu3 Why wasn't the updated package, from 9 months ago, included in 14.04.2's install? That would have fixed the issue easily. For anyone having this problem, rather than do code editing and compiling and everything mentioned above, you can grab the bcmwl-kernel- source package for Utopic (14.10) from here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/utopic/bcmwl-kernel-source Download the amd64 or i386 version, whichever you need, and install it (note: you will still need dkms installed on your system to install it). (gdb) print *event $3 = {type = 2, xany = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078}, xkey = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, root = 205, subwindow = 0, time = 909015716, x = 259, y = 451, x_root = 1539, y_root = 878, state = 0, keycode = 37, same_screen = 1}, xbutton = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, root = 205, subwindow = 0, time = 909015716, x = 259, y = 451, x_root = 1539, y_root = 878, state = 0, button = 37, same_screen = 1}, xmotion = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, root = 205, subwindow = 0, time = 909015716, x = 259, y = 451, x_root = 1539, y_root = 878, state = 0, is_hint = 37 '%', same_screen = 1}, xcrossing = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, root = 205, subwindow = 0, time = 909015716, x = 259, y = 451, x_root = 1539, y_root = 878, mode = 0, detail = 37, sa me_screen = 1, focus = 1, state = 256}, xfocus = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, mode = 205, detail = 0}, xexpose = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, x = 205, y = 0, width = 0, height = 0, count = 909015716}, xgraphicsexpose = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, drawable = 62915078, x = 205, y = 0, width = 0, height = 0, count = 909015716, major_code = 0, minor_code = 259}, xnoexpose = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, drawable = 62915078, major_code = 205, minor_code = 0}, xvisibility = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, state = 205}, xcreatewindow = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, parent = 62915078, window = 205, x = 0, y = 0, width = 909015716, height = 0, border_width = 259, override_redirect = 451}, xdestroywindow = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_ev ent = 0, display = 0x8fe110, event = 62915078, window = 205}, xunmap = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, event = 62915078, window = 205, from_configure = 0}, xmap = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, event = 62915078, window = 205, override_redirect = 0}, xmaprequest = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, parent = 62915078, window = 205}, xreparent = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, event = 62915078, window = 205, parent = 0, x = 909015716, y = 0, override_redirect = 259}, xconfigure = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, event = 62915078, window = 205, x = 0, y = 0, width = 909015716, height = 0, border_width = 259, above = 3770981287427, override_redirect = 0}, xgravity = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, event = 62915078, window = 205, x = 0, y = 0}, xresizerequest = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, displ ay = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, width = 205, height = 0}, xconfigurerequest = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, parent = 62915078, window = 205, x = 0, y = 0, width = 909015716, height = 0, border_width = 259, above = 3770981287427, detail = 0, value_mask = 4294967297}, xcirculate = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, event = 62915078, window = 205, place = 0}, xcirculaterequest = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, parent = 62915078, window = 205, place = 0}, xproperty = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, atom = 205, time = 0, state = 909015716}, xselectionclear = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, selection = 205, time = 0}, xselectionrequest = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, owner = 62915078, requestor = 205, selection = 0, target = 909015716, property = 1937030250755, time = 3770981287427}, xselection = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, requestor = 62915078, selection = 205, target = 0, property = 909015716, time = 1937030250755}, xcolormap = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, colormap = 205, new = 0, state = 0}, xclient = {type = 2, serial = 52932, send_event = 0, display = 0x8fe110, window = 62915078, message_type = 205, format = 0, data = {b = \244z.6\000\000\000\000\003\001\000\000\303\001\000\000\003\006\000, s = {31396, 13870, 0, 0, 259, 0, 451, 0, 1539, 0}, l = {909015716, 1937030250755, 3770981287427, 158913789952,

[Bug 1052449] Re: corosync hangs due to missing pacemaker shutdown scripts
I got a bit confused reading through this bug and the comments so I'm writing this in the hope it'll help future visitors. Some of the comments are relevant to a work-around for this bug. But the bug itself is about the missing update-rc.d command in the postinst (and preinst) scripts of the install package. The suggestion in the original bug report is to follow a pattern similar to corosync where the update-rc.d is in the postinst and preinst scripts but you still need to edit /etc/default/corosync to enable corosync to start on boot. The workaround in the meantime requires one to manually run update-rc.d. When doing this - it's important that corosync starts before pacemaker and shuts down after. To do this, we can run: sudo update-rc.d pacemaker defaults 99 00 I'm running 14.04.02 LTS - so: #2 is no longer the case ('Required-Stop: corosync' is now in the /etc/init.d/pacemaker script) #5 won't be a problem as insserv has been disabled (by .legacy-bootordering in /etc/init.d) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to pacemaker in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1052449 Title: corosync hangs due to missing pacemaker shutdown scripts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pacemaker/+bug/1052449/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1421483] Re: All keyboard input fails: IBUS-WARNING **: Events queue growing too big
While I try to replicate without ibus(doesn't look like it's replicating without it), really there's 3 things going on here 1) ibus process fds are being used: you could see this as an ibus issue (though that wasn't certain until #17) 2) firefox and arora cause the creation of fds within the ibus process which are never cleaned up : I guess you could view that as an ibus issue, but whether it's an ibus issue or arora/firefox issue isn't clear to me 3) chromium-browser, libreoffice, empathy, easytag and gnumeric: silently failed on ibus failure(though in some cases there was a warning warning that something *could*) happen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421483 Title: All keyboard input fails: IBUS-WARNING **: Events queue growing too big To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/arora/+bug/1421483/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
