Ok, so the fix to my problem was setting Windows Secure Boot - Other OS

However, this update will still likely break boot for everyone with an
ASUS motherboard until they change this in the BIOS.

[Bug 1445888] [NEW] gnome-screenshot keyboard shortcut doesn't works on multiple screens

2015-04-19 Thread Valerio
Public bug reported:

When multiple displays are attached via HDMI, the shortcuts for taking
screenshots don't work.
The keyboard shortcuts still works when all but one screen are removed.
1)I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit.
2)Gnome-screenshot package is 3.10.1-0ubuntu1 .
3)it's expected that the shortcut for taking a screenshot works. Example: print
or shift+print
It does work when only one display is attached.
4)when pressing shortcut keys nothing happens

Screenshots on multiple screens are still available by launching
Screenshot app, but it would be better to be able to use the
shortcuts.

[Bug 1434986] Re: Not working network connection after boot

2015-04-19 Thread Benjamin Geese
This is happening for me as well on Ubuntu 15.04 (upgraded from 14.04
through 14.10).

Interestingly, i changed my wifi-card since first experiencing this, but
it did not help. It had an rt2x00 driven USB adapter before and now run
an Intel based PCIe card with exactly the same behaviour: Directly after
boot, NM shows a connection but i cannot visit any website. I have to
manually disconnect and connect again to get internet access.

My network adapter:

[Bug 1445902] [NEW] Native vde support request

2015-04-19 Thread Oskar
Public bug reported:

Hi.

It would be nice if you could add native support for vde, sines the old
way to connect is deprecated and the tolls to connect will dissaper in
the future.

Symptom:

vdeq qemu-system-x86_64 -smp cores=2 -nographic -m 3100 -hda Server1.vmdk -hdb
Server1disk1.vmdk -serial telnet::13101,server,nowait -net

 -net nic,model=e1000,macaddr=52:54:2F:39:31:11 -net
vde,sock=/tmp/switch2.ctl,vlan=2
NOTE: vdeq is now DEPRECATED -- both QEMU and KVM have native support for
VDE. This binary will be removed soon from the distribution, consider
  stopping using it.

[Bug 1441253] Re: hanging suspend job prevents shutdown

2015-04-19 Thread Martin Pitt
We don't want to shutdown while a suspend is running, and vice versa.
This would be confusing and could lead to data loss in the worst case.
Can you please instead file a bug against the kernel about the btrfs
failure? We should fix suspend/the file system properly :-)

Note that you can still shutdown with reboot -f or poweroff -f.

[Bug 1424491] Re: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5

2015-04-19 Thread Joschi
I switched to proposed and was able to install fglrx-updates without
problems. After a reboot my .Xauthority file was owned by root causing
me to be stuck at the login screen with poor screen resolution. I was
able to fix the .Xauthority file:

sudo rm .Xauthority

The file got re-created a few times with root ownership (which should
not be the case?) but after:

sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm stop
sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm start

it seemed to be recreated with user ownership so I SHOULD be able to login.
However that was not the case.
Running

sudo Xorg -configure

gave the following error message:

[Bug 1445867] [NEW] Wifi disconnection repeatedly

2015-04-19 Thread Sharad Chand
Public bug reported:

Wifi is being disconnected repeatedly. It happens mostly while using apt-get.
Sometimes using the web. Once it starts to happen, the wifi disconnects
repeatedly with no reason.
And i cannot reconnect to the wifi by switching the wifi hardware on and off.
I have to use: 'systemctl restart NetworkManager.service' to use the wifi
again. I used this command twice while reporting this bug.
This started to happen after updating Ubuntu 15.04 yesterday (19th April).

Re: [Bug 1392176] Re: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug

2015-04-19 Thread Martin Pitt
Serge Hallyn [2015-04-17 17:49 -]:
Cpusets are not *required* for lxc. Perhaps we should in fact default
to only providing name=systemd, devices and freezer cgroups for users?
We'd want to very widely advertise how to enable other cgroups.

Right, I mostly understood it so that we need to create all those
controllers in the host that the container workload can *potentially*
use all these cgroups as well, not that they are inherently required.

Currently lxc would fail this way, but we could teach it to ignore
inability to create cgroups which aren't required. (This isn't as
simple as it seems, since using the keyword all for controllers
would no longer work, but it's doable)

all could still try to join all controllers, but ignore the ones it
doesn't have permissions for?

Maybe also (1) a new weak version of all which implements that
behaviour, or (2) a new strong version which will fail if it cannot
join any controller. TBH I don't know which way around would break
backwards compat less: (1) requires changing all existing container
configs on upgrade once we stop putting the user session into all
controllers, and (2) might break existing container workloads which
actually expect the dropped controllers.

My gut feeling is that (2) is the better option.

[Bug 1445847] Re: fbi fails with wrong JPEG library version

2015-04-19 Thread Stéphane Aulery
Hello Luke,

This problem is known and has been fixed upstream in Debian. There are
three libraries in jpeg deposits and dependencies of software is
conflicting.

Try installing the libjpeg62 library. This could remove another
incompatible package.

I know little about Ubuntu, maybe your version will be updated, but
Utopic Ubuntu (14.10) has the same problem.

Regards,

[Bug 1236619] Re: gvfs smb / cifs file copy performance is terribly slow

2015-04-19 Thread Remmilou
Not sure, but this may be of help (at least for finding the cause):
I use Debian and experienced slow transfer and eventually hangs while copying
large amonts both on CIFS and iSCSC (on the same server), with cp, rsync and
Nautilus copy. But... with gnome-commander it runs smoothly.
In my situation it seems to be the speed of the server. With small amounts it's
OK and 60 - 70 MB/s. With large amounts it started at the same speed, but then
dropped, eventually to almost zero. Gnome-commander did about 30 MB/s, but
carried on.
And now... mounting the server with the sync option gave the stability to cp,
rsync. 30MB/s, but stable.
At my work, I compared a fast and a slow server. It's no surprise that the slow
server did not collapse.
So my conclusions:
Slow servers probably get overloaded with the (default) nosync option. Th
buffers just cannot handle the large amounts.

[Bug 1254085] Re: ssh fails to connect to VPN host - hangs at 'expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_ECDH_REPLY'

2015-04-19 Thread krasoffski
Hello,
Used NetworkManager VPN (CHAP and MSCHAPv2 options are checked).

Have the same problem on clear installed xubuntu 14.04.2.
It stops at the the line: debug1: expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_ECDH_REPLY.
It is about 1 year and there is no any news or workaround.

[Bug 1442406] Re: Can't unlock UMTS modem with PIN

2015-04-19 Thread Andreas Weller
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1424362 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424362

The workaround at #1424362 works.
Finally I can unlock 3G modem's SIM.

So I'll mark this bug as duplicate.

But now it asks once for the PIN and then for the current user's
password. Is this really necessary?

Regards,
  Andreas

[Bug 1445909] [NEW] Chile abolishes Daylight Saving Time

2015-04-19 Thread Matthias Fasching
Public bug reported:

Starting this year Chile won't have a DST any more. Source:
https://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/chile-abolishes-dst-2015.html

tzdata still contains the information that Chile will switch from UTC-3
to UTC-4 on April 27th 00:00 2015. At least that is what happens if I do
some tests in R:

as.POSIXct(2014-04-26 23:00, America/Santiago) + 0 * 60 * 60
2014-04-26 23:00:00 CLST

as.POSIXct(2014-04-26 23:00, America/Santiago) + 1 * 60 * 60
2014-04-26 23:00:00 CLT

as.POSIXct(2014-04-26 23:00, America/Santiago) + 2 * 60 * 60
2014-04-27 CLT

** Affects: tzdata (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1431332] Re: sddm not starting after upgrade

2015-04-19 Thread Kari Haapanen
ok. Here we go again.
After my previous post I did a fresh install. All good. I updated a few times,
and still all good.
I had decided not to update any more, because I had a feeling that it will
break up again.
For being stupid, I updated it yesterday anyway.:

The result is that after login, the horizontal bar goes all the way to the
right as it is supposed to, but it stays there for a (too) long time. Then the
screen goes black. Mouse pointer is visible and moving, but the screen is black.
Pressing alt-f2 gives the command field and I can type in it, but pressing
enter does nothing.

Attached the apt history.log which has all actions after the fresh
install until the final disaster yesterday.

My hw is Dell Latitude E6410 with intel graphics.

I hope someone is interested. April 23rd is approaching.

[Bug 1436064] Re: SIM-PIN has to be entered every time after leaving the airplanemode

2015-04-19 Thread Thomas R.
I don't consider that it's a bug, because in my case :
my 1st SIM is for personnal use and always activated
my 2nd SIM is for professionnal use and only activated when I'm at work.

At this moment, every worked day :
(each morning before going to work) I just have to enter PIN in Network Menu of
my professionnal SIM to activate it.
(each afternoon after having worked) I switch to airplane mode then deactive it
and I only set the PIN of my personnal SIM. It leaves my professionnal SIM
offline.

By this way, I don't have to reboot my phone every working day. I find
it easy to use. That's why it would be better if a choice («Remember
PIN») is available for each SIM in System Settings (Phone or Security).

If it's really blocking for you, you can remove the PIN of your SIM in
«Security and Privacy» in System Settings.

[Bug 1167453] Re: Apps should have a way to disable HUD

2015-04-19 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
Now that the Bug #1159249 is resolved for both 14.04 LTS and 15.04 I
think this bug should get at least a higher priority.

Some users already hit this bug and they were even convinced that HUD
never worked on top of fullscreen windows. This is thread from
Development Version section of Ubuntu Forums.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2273486

Obviously there were be many more users hitting this bug now that HUD
actually works on top of fullscreen windows.

Also there are at least three very popular games that use Alt key in
their default setup for something. Those are Torchlight and Torchlight
II (display of items) and apparently Dota 2.

Workarounds for users involve disabling HUD entirely or disabling it
before launching the game and then enabling it again after. This is of
course very user unfriendly.

[Bug 1026046] Re: Missing support for thumb resting on bottom of clickpad

2015-04-19 Thread Fabio
If you're using 14.04.2 (utopic enablement stack), I have solved on
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics-lts-utopic:

### Build the deb
apt-get build-dep xserver-xorg-input-synaptics-lts-utopic
apt-get source xserver-xorg-input-synaptics-lts-utopic
cd xserver-xorg-input-synaptics-lts-utopic
wget -q -O - https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=100632 | patch -p1
# if it asks for a missing file, write: src/synaptics.c (without quotes) and
press enter to confirm
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -nc
cd .. #here there should be your debs ready to be installed

### Configure trackpad
sudo mkdir -p /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
sudo wget -q -O /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=drJKRmW8
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf
# now set your button area and save
# reboot and login again

Note: this guide is based on a previous guide, but uses the patch that
you find here https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=100632
