[Bug 1424491] Re: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5
I switched to proposed and was able to install fglrx-updates without problems. After a reboot my .Xauthority file was owned by root causing me to be stuck at the login screen with poor screen resolution. I was able to fix the .Xauthority file: sudo rm .Xauthority The file got re-created a few times with root ownership (which should not be the case?) but after: sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm stop sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm start it seemed to be recreated with user ownership so I SHOULD be able to login. However that was not the case. Running sudo Xorg -configure gave the following error message: ** X.Org X Server 1.16.0 Release Date: 2014-07-16 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: Linux 3.2.0-70-generic x86_64 Ubuntu Current Operating System: Linux OO7-laptop 3.16.0-36-generic #48~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 15 13:11:28 UTC 2015 x86_64 Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-36-generic root=UUID=9ad1f2a0-562f-46da-82c0-4e0e403d7fbc ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 Build Date: 12 February 2015 11:11:26PM xorg-server 2:1.16.0-1ubuntu1.2~trusty2 (For technical support please see http://www.ubuntu.com/support) Current version of pixman: 0.30.2 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. Re: [Bug 1392176] Re: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug
Serge Hallyn [2015-04-17 17:49 -]: Cpusets are not *required* for lxc. Perhaps we should in fact default to only providing name=systemd, devices and freezer cgroups for users? We'd want to very widely advertise how to enable other cgroups. Right, I mostly understood it so that we need to create all those controllers in the host that the container workload can *potentially* use all these cgroups as well, not that they are inherently required. Currently lxc would fail this way, but we could teach it to ignore inability to create cgroups which aren't required. (This isn't as simple as it seems, since using the keyword all for controllers would no longer work, but it's doable) all could still try to join all controllers, but ignore the ones it doesn't have permissions for? Maybe also (1) a new weak version of all which implements that behaviour, or (2) a new strong version which will fail if it cannot join any controller. TBH I don't know which way around would break backwards compat less: (1) requires changing all existing container configs on upgrade once we stop putting the user session into all controllers, and (2) might break existing container workloads which actually expect the dropped controllers. My gut feeling is that (2) is the better option. [Bug 1445847] Re: fbi fails with wrong JPEG library version

[Bug 1236619] Re: gvfs smb / cifs file copy performance is terribly slow
Not sure, but this may be of help (at least for finding the cause): I use Debian and experienced slow transfer and eventually hangs while copying large amonts both on CIFS and iSCSC (on the same server), with cp, rsync and Nautilus copy. But... with gnome-commander it runs smoothly. In my situation it seems to be the speed of the server. With small amounts it's OK and 60 - 70 MB/s. With large amounts it started at the same speed, but then dropped, eventually to almost zero. Gnome-commander did about 30 MB/s, but carried on. And now... mounting the server with the sync option gave the stability to cp, rsync. 30MB/s, but stable. At my work, I compared a fast and a slow server. It's no surprise that the slow server did not collapse. So my conclusions: Slow servers probably get overloaded with the (default) nosync option. Th buffers just cannot handle the large amounts. Adapt your options to the server speed and your needs. [Bug 1431332] Re: sddm not starting after upgrade
ok. Here we go again. After my previous post I did a fresh install. All good. I updated a few times, and still all good. I had decided not to update any more, because I had a feeling that it will break up again. For being stupid, I updated it yesterday anyway.: The result is that after login, the horizontal bar goes all the way to the right as it is supposed to, but it stays there for a (too) long time. Then the screen goes black. Mouse pointer is visible and moving, but the screen is black. Pressing alt-f2 gives the command field and I can type in it, but pressing enter does nothing. Attached the apt history.log which has all actions after the fresh install until the final disaster yesterday. My hw is Dell Latitude E6410 with intel graphics. I hope someone is interested. April 23rd is approaching. ** Attachment added: apt history.log after fresh install of kubuntu 15.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sddm/+bug/1431332/+attachment/4379257/+files/history.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431332 Title: sddm not starting after upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sddm/+bug/1431332/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1436064] Re: SIM-PIN has to be entered every time after leaving the airplanemode
I don't consider that it's a bug, because in my case : my 1st SIM is for personnal use and always activated my 2nd SIM is for professionnal use and only activated when I'm at work. At this moment, every worked day : (each morning before going to work) I just have to enter PIN in Network Menu of my professionnal SIM to activate it. (each afternoon after having worked) I switch to airplane mode then deactive it and I only set the PIN of my personnal SIM. It leaves my professionnal SIM offline. By this way, I don't have to reboot my phone every working day. I find it easy to use. That's why it would be better if a choice («Remember PIN») is available for each SIM in System Settings (Phone or Security). If it's really blocking for you, you can remove the PIN of your SIM in «Security and Privacy» in System Settings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1436064 Title: SIM-PIN has to be entered every time after leaving the airplanemode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuphone/+bug/1436064/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1167453] Re: Apps should have a way to disable HUD
Now that the Bug #1159249 is resolved for both 14.04 LTS and 15.04 I think this bug should get at least a higher priority. Some users already hit this bug and they were even convinced that HUD never worked on top of fullscreen windows. This is thread from Development Version section of Ubuntu Forums. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2273486 Obviously there were be many more users hitting this bug now that HUD actually works on top of fullscreen windows. Also there are at least three very popular games that use Alt key in their default setup for something. Those are Torchlight and Torchlight II (display of items) and apparently Dota 2. Workarounds for users involve disabling HUD entirely or disabling it before launching the game and then enabling it again after. This is of course very user unfriendly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1167453 Title: Apps should have a way to disable HUD To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hud/+bug/1167453/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
