[Bug 1453029] Re: Tried to login, GUI locked up. Did reboot was presented with several messages : general protection fault: 0000 [#31] SMP

2015-05-29 Thread Thomas A. F. Thorne
Reading the instructions again:
the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the
 page

So does that mean I should be looking to get http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-next/current/ which seems to be a 4.1
Kernel instead of the 3.16 that is currently on my machine.

Hey, now I get a different page off of your original link.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=showredirect=KernelMainlineBuilds
now shows a link to http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D and at the top of that page is
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.1-rc5-unstable/

I shall follow the instructions for downloading and installing then get
back to you with the results. Seems to take a week or two for the
problem to surface so it might take a while for me to declare a Kernel
good. I suppose it would be quite easy to make it bad though if it
fails.

[Bug 1419545]

2015-05-29 Thread Derek Freder
Created attachment 6281
a first, incomplete patch

Currently I dont have much time to do the coding ( new baby + we move to a new
house )
So here what I did so far. (patch for Thunar-1.6.3 attached). It already works
nicely .. however there is a list of things which are TODO in order to ensure
that it works in all cases, with the best performance, etc.

What currently works:
- For each folder of a tab, a deep-count-job is started to count the total size
of the folder. Updates are displayed, until the total size is calculated.
- The jobs are cancelled when the directory, displayed by the tab is changed.
- If two tabs show the same folder, recursive size calculations are only done
once
- The feature can be enabled /disabled in the preferences

What still needs to be done:
- Not realy good to run one job per folder, if this spawns a thread for each
job ... could get a real problem for folders with many sub-folders
- save folder-sizes in tree-model for all sub-folders if possible (So that
calculation is done only once when browsing a tree )
- Possible to use thunar-folder instead of thunar-file in order to save
calculated size , etc ?
- move impl to separate file, if it makes sense
- bug: Update list-model if box in preferences is un-checked
- possibilitie to run all jobs in the same thread ?
- Usage of G_Likely / G_UNLikely
- mutex protection for critical variables
- Possibility to refresh / re-calculate ? ( react on reload STR+R .. maybe
even automatically, if the size of an sub-folder/file is changed )
- Ensure that there are no memory-leaks !
- Usage of g_object_ref, etc ? Does that make sense ?
- alphabetic order for methods ?
- update documentation
- create patch for trunk version of thunar (git ?)

Thanks alot to Woj, bug 10338 helped me alot to get started ! ( ..
Probably my patch will conflict with the patch for bug 10338, since
often it touches the same lines )

I will try to continue work on the patch, when I have free time however
if it takes too long for you, feel free to take over!

[Bug 1445080] Re: Cellular data not activated after exiting flight mode

2015-05-29 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
@Will, @Tony:

The behaviour you see is probably related to indicator-network, so if
you open a bug please include that package too. I think the behaviour
has improved after latest landings for that package which fixed some
problems for PUK-blocked SIMs, although issues still remain.

I do not really think that the auto-unlocking change is related, as that
would not trigger after a reboot.

[Bug 1449555] Re: password request for cryptswap1 during boot when encrypted home directory selected

2015-05-29 Thread Jimmy Frydkær Dürr
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1453738 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453738

I have just installed Wily desktop with encrypted LVM and encrypted
/home and I get this error to: System asking for passphrase for
cryptswap1.

It also showed several times while installing packages in Synaptic.

Having a 20 character password for unlocking my LVM I got lazy and tried
to hit the Enter key without typing my password and the system continued
to load Ubuntu up to the login-screen.

To me it seems like a major problem that one can enter an empty password
to bypass security.

The security is not all that compromised on an LVM system but it is on a
system with encryptet /home only.

[Bug 1459613] Re: connecting 2x 4k screens on a Dell XPS12 (9Q33): compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in GLTexture::matrix()

2015-05-29 Thread D
I wouldn't say it's a workaround, after I installed en ran metacity
--replace, I experienced;
- the unity task bar was gone, as well as the launchbar
- the keyboard wasn't recognized anymore (?)
- When I killed the process metacity, the unity desktop didn't return.

For troubleshoot purposes (as I saw all three screens), it's usefull I
think. But it's not a workaround as it's unusable (at least at the way I
used metacity).

I will look at the stuff Daniel mentioned (although I don't know what
he's talking about), but it will be after the weekeind because we have a
big network migration today and the whole weekend.

[Bug 1446177] Re: Nodeinfo returns wrong NUMA topology / bad virtualization performance

2015-05-29 Thread Stefan Bader
Some of the comments I made serve more to help my own memory jumping on and off
the issue. ;) Basically the nodeinfo looks like libvirt ran into thinking that
there is no node subtree in sysfs. Then it sets the number of nodes to 1 and
directly scans the cpu subtree. I quickly did scan the upstream git tree of
libvirt and did not find something obvious. I may have missed things or maybe
it is the kernel that changed for the better.
What I got in mind would be to make a special version of libvirt that has a lot
logging around the area of obtaining the nodeinfo. If this can be tried on a
non-production server, I think this will be less painful for all. If its ok for
everyone to wait that long. I would go and prepare the test package(s)
(Trusty/14.04 version) and post a link to them here. The debugging would be on
error level, so the log level of libvirtd can be kept to errors (avoiding to
fill up the log with other stuff).

commit 7d5c85ad1013185bd3aa7f0d384f2e0e68e3b484
Author: Tim Burke tim.bu...@gmail.com

Stop decoding object content

Previously, we had urllib3 (via requests) automatically decode all
responses with a Content-Encoding of deflate or gzip. This included
object downloads, which would in turn cause etag or content-length
mismatch errors. (See bug 1338464)

This was apparently added in response to a third-party proxy sitting
between the client and server which, having observed that the client
would accept gzip-encoded content while the server sent an unencoded
response, would perform the compression. (See bug 1282861)

Now, we'll no longer let requests send any default headers, nor do any
decoding.

[Bug 1459121] Re: Screen doesn't wake up when on minimum brightness

2015-05-29 Thread Josué
** Description changed:

- ubuntu 15.04 for phones beta r.223 (bq aquaris ubuntu edition)
+ ubuntu 15.10 for phones beta r.223 (bq aquaris ubuntu edition)

Since r.222 upgrade i noticed that sometimes I cant unlock the phone.
When i push unlock button (one time) looks like nothing happens, screen
doesn't woke up.
If i press a second time screen woke up for half second showing unlock
screen.

When it happens, i know that the OS is running because when i push the
unlock button(first time), i can make a screen shot pushing up volume
and down volume at same time it also reproduce the sound.

Looks that the only problem is to wakeup the screen.

It began to happen without install any program, just upgrades.
When it happened to me I think that I haven't opened any app.

[Bug 1403758] Re: Unity8 shows black screen with Qt 5.4.0

2015-05-29 Thread Timo Jyrinki
With some more building, it seems compiling qtbase with GCC5 does not
help in enabling the upstream (now default in Qt 5.5 5.4.2) patches,
bringing back the -Bsymbolic for armhf and using the -reduce-relocations
option. The symptoms are similar with this qtbase compiled with GCC5.
I've saved the compilation at https://launchpad.net/~timo-
jyrinki/+archive/ubuntu/qt-reduce-relocations and attaching unity8.log
(with Cannot assign object to list).

[Bug 1459046] Re: nova-* services do not start if rsyslog is not yet started

2015-05-29 Thread Martin Pitt
This is apparently an SRU fix for trusty. Does that also affect later
releases? In particular, does it affect vivid/wily, as we don't use
upstart there but systemd? In particular, these would need an
After=syslog.service, is that the case? If not, this needs to be fixed
as well, and as per the SRU rules a bug has to be fixed in the
development series first. Thanks!

[Bug 1458397] Re: Merge fuse 2.9.3-16 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2015-05-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package fuse - 2.9.3-16ubuntu1

---
fuse (2.9.3-16ubuntu1) wily; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable. (LP: #1458397) Remaining changes:
- debian/fuse-udeb.install:
  + Install ulockmgr_server.
- debian/fuse.udev:
+ Don't install the udev rules; we require the fuse module to be
built-in, and mountall/systemd handle mounting /sys/fs/fuse/connections.
  * Drop following change, no longer applicable:
- debian/fuse.postinst:
+ Only change the ownership or mode of /etc/fuse.conf
on initial installation.
- Drop the Ubuntu specific way of making fusermount suid root. Using
dpkg-statoverride for this works perfectly well and allows admins to
  un-setuid it. [Martin Pitt]

fuse (2.9.3-16) unstable; urgency=high

[Bug 1266840] Re: maas-dns failed to install completely on Trusty

2015-05-29 Thread Mario Splivalo
Hi, Jeff.

Is this still the issue? I just tried deploying maas with ubuntu trusty,
installing just 'maas' package, which then install everything that was
needed (incuding maas-dns). The maas version in trusty is 1.5, and I
had no issues with installing.

Then I added maas stable ppa, and upgraded to maas 1.7, also no issues.

To be complete, I trashed my test env, created clean one, added maas
stable ppa and installed maas from there - also no issues.

(I did all my tests in trusty lxc container).

I see you were testing with 1.4+bzr1789+dfsg-0ubuntu1, where maas-dns is
currenlty on 1.5.

[Bug 1460028] [NEW] Ubuntu suspend instead of shutdown when battery is low

2015-05-29 Thread Michał Fułat
Public bug reported:

Hi!

This bug appears for me in last stable version of Ubuntu (15.04).

In system settings, I set power manager to shutdown my laptop when
battery is critically low.

But it doesn't work.

When battery reach 0%, Ubuntu shows a notify like your computer will
shutdown now but it doesn't. It always went to suspend mode (blinkin'
power led in my laptop).

Moreover, in system power settings I cannot set the action to suspend,
cause I've got only two options: shutdown (which is set by me) and
hibernate (which cannot be set cause it's inactive, probably cause my
swap partition are too small).

My laptop: ASUS K50IN.

Thanks for help.

Just omitting -reduce-relocations doesn't change anything. For

tried first - enabling the four commented out patches, modifying the
enable_pie.patch accordingly which is actually also from upstream even
though listed as being Ubuntu specific, and adding the gcc5.patch.

[Bug 1460038] [NEW] libarchive extracts zip as corrupt files but no warning or error

2015-05-29 Thread Hendy Irawan
Public bug reported:

The attached zip file is produced by AirDroid and can be extracted
successfully by unzip 6.00, ASUS File Manager for Android, and Windows
8.1.

However libarchive13 version 3.1.2-7ubuntu2.1, in Linux Mint KDE 17.1
amd64, while extracts the files without any warning or error, results in
corrupt files. These are all JPG files which cannot be viewed when
extracted by Ark.

Tested using both:

* Ark 2.19 (4:4.14.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.04~ppa1)
* bsdcpio 3.1.2-7ubuntu2.1

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Extract

Actual Results:
Corrupt JPGs

Expected Results:
Proper JPGs

For complete thread/diagnostics history please see
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348357

[Bug 1297849] Re: [SRU] Virtual private network connection fails after distribution upgrade due to outdated Network Manager configuration files

2015-05-29 Thread Marc Iulian
Had the same problem on 15.04. I manually add the route but in 15.04 NM
seems to be changed and no longer works. What I did instead is to add
the manual route normally but changed the gateway (routes - gateway) to
0.0.0.0 , that worked for me. I hope it can help you too. Additionally,
you can try change the route to something like: sudo ip r a 10.0.0.0/8
dev ppp0 - this also worked for me.
