[Bug 1463147] Re: gnutls_dh_params_generate2 generates short primes

2015-06-08 Thread LaMont Jones
This shows up as weechat failing to connect because the key length is
less than 2048 bits (weechat's default behavior). Needless to say, if I
ask for 2048 bits of temp key, I should get (at least) 2048 bits of temp
key.

[Bug 1463125] [NEW] ubuntu 14.04 stuck (apparently) during install

2015-06-08 Thread markling
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04 Install appears to have hung.

Install is unable to proceed beyond the user options screen. There is no
dialogue button for next or any other way for the user to tell the
install to continue.

This install was started from live desktop icon. The install then
appeared to proceed without a hitch. I went through install screens as
install was being processed.

I left the machine a while when it asked for install options for
username / password. The install continued in the background. User login
details were finally added. But the screen did not allow progress from
this point. The install process completed - and there was no more disk
activity. But that was all.

The screen has not hung: it is possible to edit the user details. But
the only dialogue options are Back and Connect.

The Connect button is greyed out and will not accept selection.
There is no way to progress from this point.

The install parameters were as follows:

forcepae, encrypted lvm, no network connection, over-write blank space

Machine:

IBM Thinkpad X40 Pentium-M

The machine booted into live environment after I added the forcepae
option for certain Pentium-M Thinkpads (as per instructions here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/117744/how-can-i-install-on-a-non-pae-
cpu-error-kernel-requires-features-not-present/117751#117751).

The following user details were entered/selected: your name, computer's
name, username, password, confirm password, require my password to
login.

The following details were not selected: encrypt my home folder, login
automatically.

[Bug 1462495] Re: Init file does not respect the LSB spec.

2015-06-08 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
** Description changed:

  [Environment]

  Trusty 14.04.2

  [Description]

  Looking in the /etc/init.d/haproxy script, particularly the stop method,
  is returning 4 in case of the pidfile doesn't exists.

   /bin/kill $pid || return 4.

  According to the spec that means 'insufficient privileges' which is not
correct. This is causing pacemaker and other
  system monitoring tools to fail because it doesn't complains with LSB.

  An example:

  Jun  2 12:52:13 glance02 crmd[2518]:   notice: process_lrm_event:
glance02-res_glance_haproxy_monitor_5000:22 [ haproxy dead, but
/var/run/haproxy.pid exists.\n ]
  Jun  2 12:52:13 glance02 crmd[2518]:   notice: process_lrm_event: LRM
operation res_glance_haproxy_stop_0 (call=33, rc=4, cib-update=19,
confirmed=true) insufficient privileges

  Reference:

  haproxy_stop()
  {
  if [ ! -f $PIDFILE ] ; then
  # This is a success according to LSB
  return 0
  fi
  for pid in $(cat $PIDFILE) ; do
  /bin/kill $pid || return 4
  done
  rm -f $PIDFILE
  return 0
  }

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Pacemaker or any other system monitoring tool that relies
+ on a proper exit code could fail as this doesn't complains with LSB.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Stop/Start haproxy on Trusty/Utopic and check exit code.
+
+ $ sudo service haproxy stop | echo $?
+
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * If any application or shell script is relying on a wrong exit code
+ 4 , then it could be affected by this change.
+
  [Proposed solution]

  Backport the current devel (wily) init.

[Bug 1462530] Re: multipath errors on vivid and wily kernel?

2015-06-08 Thread Stefan Bader
From the data I can see all 6 multipath disks are set to failover mode.
Which in this special case is done because some implicit logic in the
multipath-tools detected that the scsi controller supports ALUA queries
and those returned that host0 has all disks in active state. So all IO
is going through that controller. The scsi disk devices seen through the
other controller (host1) are only in standby.

The boot dmesg reports inconsistencies in the ext4 filesystem on dm-6
which due to a (normally harmless) error message before can be
translated into mpath1-part2. Not sure, but on the system you gave me
access to the only alias with data was mpath0. So that may be a
potential problem or just a different config. And what cannot be seen is
whether maybe the installation+reboot had maybe left the filesystem in a
bad state.

[Bug 1429427] Re: Unexplainable time jumps in CRON

2015-06-08 Thread G.J.
Figured I'd give it a quick google for this weirdness and stumbled upon
this report. Confirmed it, but then started doubting if it actually is
cron that's causing this weirdness. So I put a simple strace on my
freshly restarted cron with strace -f -p  pid -s 1000 21 | grep
'CRON\[' and left this running for half a day. Guess what? You can see
cron logging like it should, no jumping around. But then when I look at
the actual syslog again, I see the cron entries jumping around... So
that makes one question syslog somehow... No time yet to dive into that
though...

[Bug 1406802] Re: Vivid Unity Wallpaper horizontally hashed

2015-06-08 Thread Venetin Konstantinov
With the latest kernel update 3.19.0-20 the hashing is worst then ever.
I am using variety for wallpaper changing and now on every wallpaper
change there is a hashing. I have to manualy change the wallpaper
multiple times to get to normal view. And of course the issue is not
only the wallpaper, but also other GTK elements which are hashed.

[Bug 1462495] Re: Init file does not respect the LSB spec.

2015-06-08 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
** Description changed:

  [Environment]

  Trusty 14.04.2

  [Description]

  Looking in the /etc/init.d/haproxy script, particularly the stop method,
  is returning 4 in case of the pidfile doesn't exists.

   /bin/kill $pid || return 4.

  According to the spec that means 'insufficient privileges' which is not
correct. This is causing pacemaker and other
  system monitoring tools to fail because it doesn't complains with LSB.

  An example:

  Jun  2 12:52:13 glance02 crmd[2518]:   notice: process_lrm_event:
glance02-res_glance_haproxy_monitor_5000:22 [ haproxy dead, but
/var/run/haproxy.pid exists.\n ]
  Jun  2 12:52:13 glance02 crmd[2518]:   notice: process_lrm_event: LRM
operation res_glance_haproxy_stop_0 (call=33, rc=4, cib-update=19,
confirmed=true) insufficient privileges

  Reference:

  haproxy_stop()
  {
  if [ ! -f $PIDFILE ] ; then
  # This is a success according to LSB
  return 0
  fi
  for pid in $(cat $PIDFILE) ; do
  /bin/kill $pid || return 4
  done
  rm -f $PIDFILE
  return 0
  }

+ [Impact]

[Bug 1462489] Re: Allow apps to keep the screen on

2015-06-08 Thread costales
I made GPS Navigation app. I need to config the idle screen for use this
app each time :(
I'd need to set the screen = ON always.

I'm receiving bad user reviews too in the Store because of this (for
example, review of Jun 6 or 4, 2015)
https://uappexplorer.com/app/navigator.costales
 The only minor flaw so far is that it lets the screen dim even if screen
lock is off - it would be nice to be able to disable that.
screem auto dims even if I change Bq phone settings.
has no option for always on screen wich goes dark after 1 min
 the screen turns almost down even if I set the never sleep option up

For a video apps it would be useful too.

Best regards!

Hi! Today I get a freeze on the app startup.
It was just when I changed from wifi to 3G and I launched the app.
The app had not a real data connectivity in that moment, a connectivity

Maybe that can help.

We should need an user will a persist problem all the time :(

I've changed the title - if we get a 404 response, the frame will
display the response from the server. In this case, the load fails
(there is no 404).

I guess this is the downside of having the error page as part of the
browser UI :/

[Bug 1463120] [NEW] Failure to boot if fstab disk mounts fail

2015-06-08 Thread Mark Rogers
Public bug reported:

I found this on my main 15.04 desktop but have reproduced it in a VM:
1. Install Ubuntu 15.04 (I included updates and non-free but I doubt that
matters).
2. Add a bogus entry to /etc/fstab, eg:
  /dev/sdd1 /mnt/sdd1 ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 0
Note that /mnd/sdd1 exists but /dev/sdd1 does not
3. Reboot

Expected: Failure to mount /dev/sdd1 reported and option to boot without
mounting it
Actual: System appears to hang, although it will eventually present a root
terminal (with no indication of the cause of the problem). It appears to hang
prior to switching graphical mode, with the result that any warnings/errors
that are present on all boots but invisible because the screen clears before
they're seen become visible for the first time incorrectly suggesting they are
the cause of the problem.

Removing (or commenting out) the problematic entries and rebooting
allows the system to boot.

HOWEVER: The grub boot menu now appears and any pre-existing menu
timeout and default action seems to have been lost; it's now necessary
to select a boot option on each boot. This may be a separate bug (or
feature?).

My actual case: I have external drives permanently connected via USB,
however the USB card appears to have failed hence the drives are not
accessible. With no clues (and being unfamiliar to systemd) working out
why the system wouldn't boot was a tough job.

THanks Jamie,
It's OK the user question :)

This is a QML container for a web, then should I to add the media-hub for
this kind of app? Is it just that?

Thanks in advance!

 I'd need to set the screen = ON always.

 FYI, the suggested implementation in the bug is to ask the user the first

 that the answer will be remembered (and thereafter adjustable in system
 settings). I don't know if this will be the actual implementation, but
the idea
 is to solve your issue when it is implemented.

 For a video apps it would be useful too.

 Video apps should be using media-hub which already has the ability to
inhibit
 the screen turning off. Webapps needing this are waiting for work that is
in
 progress to make media-hub work with oxide, but that is coming.

[Bug 781931] Re: New windows are moved to front but don't take focus

2015-06-08 Thread Fordi
Simple reproduction:

1. Open terminal.
2. Run any of the following commands:
* xdg-open .
- Expected: Nautilus opens, becomes front window with focus
- Actual: Nautilus opens, becomes first non-front window without focus
* xdg-open http://ubuntu.com
- Expected: Browser opens, becomes front window with focus
- Actual: Browser opens, becomes first non-front window without focus

Nautilus is opened, but sits below the terminal window. Rayner Pires
workaround, mentioned in February, causes the correct behavior, but I
don't know what side-effects it may cause.

2015-06-08 Thread Donald Sitze
For what it's worth, I had this problem and found that because the
default Ubuntu installation apparently includes Apache2 httpd server,
which was active on port 80, the nginx core installer failed when it
tried to start the nginx service. This port conflict and subsequent
failure of the nginx service caused the error in the installer.

I disabled the apache server and nginx installation then completed
without errors.

[Bug 1460152] Re: apparmor cache not updated when apparmor.d rules change (breaks 15.04/stable - 15.04/edge updates)

2015-06-08 Thread Jamie Strandboge
This is fine for wily. We'll want to backport this to other releases, but we'll
need to be careful wrt 15.04 because touch is about to release their
15.04-based OTA and if we push this to vivid-updates, then it will trigger a
policy recompile on touch. As such, I think for now we should either:
 1. update the snappy image build ppa with this fix, or
 2. push this as SRU to 15.04 and update the stable-phone-updates ppa to have
the current apparmor so it doesn't get updated

Since only snappy is known to need this right now, I think the former is
the way to go unless we get reports that the distro needs this SRU'd to
15.04, at which point we should do '2'.

Interesting, I just found (while trying to lock my screen) that ctrl-

other shortcut I know is wonky) and it didn't work. But if I assign lock

stop working again.

[Bug 1430769] Re: Does not detect hidden WiFi on first attempt

2015-06-08 Thread Niklas Wenzel
I don't think this is a duplicate bug as the other bug mentions some
behaviour which I do not see.

Here is the behaviour I do *not* see (copied from the other bug):

Instead of the connected icon in the top bar there's just a blank
space, the hidden network shows up in the indicator's network list
twice, and there's no check mark next to either of the entries in the
network list

Here is what I see:

Nothing happens. There is no blank space (the icon displays the state of
my mobile connection or the not connected wifi icon), nor does the
network show up in the list even once.

[Bug 1446177] Re: Nodeinfo returns wrong NUMA topology / bad virtualization performance

2015-06-08 Thread Stefan Bader
I have to go back to the libvirt code tomorrow. If I remember correctly it was
using the physical_id info (which is also seen in /proc/cpuinfo) as the number
of sockets. At least in the 14.04 version of libvirt. Might be something to
explicitly check in newer versions. Since you already tested a recent kernel we
can at least rule out that side. So it is very likely a change in libvirt.
Unfortunately I think it will not be as straight forward to try a newer libvirt
as that likely has more dependencies. When I look into more details tomorrow, I
try to build a 15.04 version of libvirt in a 15.04 build environment. The
result should go only in a test environment as it will never get updated (just
a cautious warning).

I lose my second monitor, and have to reboot .

My system is a fully up-to-date ubuntu 14.04.2 x86_64 8-core Haswell
system with 16GB RAM and a 1TB hard disk.

The applications which were displaying on my second monitor remain running, but
as I can never
access the screen on which they were displayed until rebooting, this problem
has resulted in
me losing some work in those applications before I could save what I was
working on.

This problem started happening a few weeks ago with an xorg system related
upgrade - but would
it be the xserver or some driver's package scripts that are doing this ?

There is nothing in the syslog about replacement of xorg.conf . This
fact in itself is a bug .

I have maintained this xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf , and I have a link
to it as
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/000-screens.conf :

What could be so objectionable about this file to which Ubuntu component's
package scripts ?

Anyway, when it happens, the only way to regain my second screen is to
reboot .

What a time waster !

At least the xorg.conf is backed up to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.MMDD .

But it a pain to have to reboot to regain the second screen , especially as your
boot scripts are unable to fsck the root filesystem , and so each time I reboot
I must go into recovery mode, fsck the filesystems, and poweroff, because if I
don't
poweroff after rebooting into recovery mode, I get X-windows. Gee, what a
trusty operating system!

I have done, as root:
  $ chmod a-w /etc/X11/ /etc/X11/*
meaning that even the root user can't remove files in
that directory without being prompted, but still something is removing
that file.

Does anyone have any idea what virus-like entity might be removing my
file ?

 This is a QML container for a web, then should I to add the media-hub for
 this kind of app? Is it just that?

As a developer, I think it is all supposed to be transparent-- ie, you use
regular QML, an UbuntuWebview or Oxide Webview and under the hood media-hub is
used. Today, that should work fine for Audio{}/etc it is just that with the
UbuntuWebview and Oxide Webview that under the hood work is in progress.

 Thanks in advance!

 FYI, the suggested implementation in the bug is to ask the user the first

 that the answer will be remembered (and thereafter adjustable in system
 settings). I don't know if this will be the actual implementation, but

 For a video apps it would be useful too.

 Video apps should be using media-hub which already has the ability to
 inhibit
 the screen turning off. Webapps needing this are waiting for work that is
 in
 progress to make media-hub work with oxide, but that is coming.

[Bug 1388743] Re: iOS 8.1 - Could not start com.apple.mobile.installation_proxy!

This problem is fixed by updating ideviceinstaller to version 1.1.0.
The version available in Ubuntu Software Center is 1.0.1-0.2. Note that
you need to upgrade the whole stack because of library dependencies and
protocol mismatch (ideviceinstaller 1.1.0 cannot talk to usbmuxd 1.0.8).

[Bug 1463147] [NEW] gnutls_dh_params_generate2 generates short primes

2015-06-08 Thread LaMont Jones
Public bug reported:

I have several hosts (running inspircd) that call
gnutls_dh_params_generate2 to generate their dh params.

The key lengths that openssl s_client reports are not always the correct
length.

It seems that gnutls is not following the crypto-community standard of
forcing the high bit on before throwing the random number into primality
testing.

Looking at gen_group() in lib/nettle/mpi.c in the gnutls sources may be
useful.

[Bug 1463151] [NEW] Please merge from debian unstable 5.7.3+dfsg-1

2015-06-08 Thread Bryan Quigley
Public bug reported:

net-snmp (5.7.3+dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Imported Upstream version 5.7.3+dfsg
  * refresh debian/patches and drop unnecessary patches from upstream
  * debian/control
- set Standards-Version: 3.9.6

5.7.3 (which is an LTS release) changes:
*5.7.3*
Many many bug fixes and minor improvements

snmpd, snmptrapd and apps:
  - Patch 2525: from Ryan Steinmetz: Fix argument length parsing of the
host resources mib
  - Make ENV_SEPARATOR_CHAR configurable
  - SECURITY: a denial of service attack vector was discovered on
the linux implementation of the ICMP-MIB. This release fixes
this bug and all users are encouraged to update their SNMP
agent if they make use of the ICMP-MIB table objects.

perl:
  - BUG: 2402: Add support for SNMPv3 traps

Previously remaining changes were:
- Add apport hook.
- Avoid installing links in rc[06].d.

If we merge this, it might let
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepalived/+bug/1460120 turn
into a sync request.

[Bug 1462919] Re: kswapd pulls server down every 2 weeks.

2015-06-08 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? This
will help determine if the problem you are seeing is the result of a
regression, and when this regression was introduced. If this is a
regression, we can perform a kernel bisect to identify the commit that
introduced the problem.

Re: [Bug 1462489] Re: Allow apps to keep the screen on

On 06/08/2015 12:17 PM, costales wrote:
 I made GPS Navigation app. I need to config the idle screen for use this

 I'd need to set the screen = ON always.

FYI, the suggested implementation in the bug is to ask the user the first time
the app tries to inhibit the screen turning off if it is ok to do this-- after
that the answer will be remembered (and thereafter adjustable in system
settings). I don't know if this will be the actual implementation, but the idea
is to solve your issue when it is implemented.

...

 For a video apps it would be useful too.

Video apps should be using media-hub which already has the ability to inhibit
the screen turning off. Webapps needing this are waiting for work that is in
progress to make media-hub work with oxide, but that is coming.

[Bug 1432484] Re: ctrl+alt+t hot key doesn't open terminal

2015-06-08 Thread Daniel Manrique
This bug should probably be reopened:

1- The person who said it wasn't happening anymore (newuser) is *not* the
original reporter, who has said it's still happening (comment #11).
2- It's also happening to me :)

This is a fresh Vivid installation where I dist-upgraded and rebooted a
couple of times. Also redefined the shortcut in question by going to
system settings - keyboard - shortcuts, and assigning a different
shortcut to Launch terminal. I found that pretty much any other
shortcut (I tried ctrl-T and ctrl-alt-Y) works. It's *only* ctrl-alt-T
that doesn't work.
