[Bug 1452218] Re: qtcurve cannot be installed due to missing dependency libkdecorations4abi2

2015-07-28 Thread Tehnick
Now qtcurve - 1.8.18+git20150711-a3fff13-4 is available in Debian
unstable.

Could anyone upload this package into Ubuntu?

Please have in mind that package src:qtcurve replaces src:gtk2-engines-
qtcurve and src:kde-style-qtcurve. So they should be removed.

[Bug 1475949] Re: Port to relocated peripheral settings

2015-07-28 Thread Iain Lane
Seems that this is locked in with the upgrades to g-s-d and g-c-c 3.16,
the latter of which is tied in with gnome-online-accounts which is
blocked on webkitgtk2 in main (LP: #1466290).

So we need a decision on that one first before we can go ahead with
this, AFAICS. :/

I did a brief visual/build review and it seems fine. I couldn't build
the rest to test it runs (including migrates) fine, but will do when the
time comes.

[Bug 1435709] Re: mysql.service fail to start after upgrade to mysql-server.5.6

2015-07-28 Thread Elias Probst
Would it probably make sense to backport the systemd-related
improvements [1] from 5.7 to 5.6. Although they're not perfect yet,
they're a huge improvement compared to the current hacks required to
make mysqld behave more or less sane in systemd environments.

[Bug 1478873] [NEW] Odd behaviour in some applications

2015-07-28 Thread Christian Brandt
Public bug reported:

Earlier today I installed
linux-headers-3.13.0-59
linux-headers-3.13.0-59-generic
linux-image-3.13.0-59-generic
linux-image-extra-3.13.0-59-generic
and after that some applications, most notably steam, started to behave
strange, e.g. in steam installed software was invisible and the application
install dialog stated Disk Space Available: 0

Counter checks by booting some older kernels (48 to 58) fixed that
behaviour. A very quick cross check with another system seem to prove
this observation.

I do an educated guess: my steam is sitting on /archive/steam so I can
share it over network and local users. /archive is a soft link to
/home/archive coz I often move this one around a lot. I have the odd
feeling kernel -59 is having issues with soft links and/or steam is
handling soft links in a weird way which broke with -59. All other
software affected is somehow connected to soft links, be it a small
readlink from bash or postgresql.

Sorry for being a bit vague right now, more details after I return from
work and have time to experiment with avoiding soft links while using my
affected applications.

[Bug 1391286] Re: Fails to generate thumbnail for small videos recorded with camera-app

2015-07-28 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
@michihenning it just landed in image 75, devel-proposed in arale (and
in latest images for the other phones I guess). I am also under the
general impression that gstreamer 1.5.2 greatly reduces the time needed
for creating a thumbnail, it would be good if you can confirm this :-).

[Bug 1478820] [NEW] Can't restore broadband connection after resume from suspend

2015-07-28 Thread Mathias Hasselmann
Public bug reported:

After resume nm-applet doesn't restore broadband connections
automatically. Instead it asks for the SIM PIN[1], but after unlocking
the SIM no connection is established. Connecting manually from popup
results in a message box showing the following error message:

(32) Connection 'Notebook Flat' is not available on the device cdc-wdm0
at this time.

Backtrace for this dialog is:

Trying to debug this now. My assumption is that modem-manager publishes
the modem at a new DBus path because of the unlocking and apparently nm-
applet fails to pickup that new path.

[1] Although the PIN should be stored in the keyring, but let's ignore
that bug for now.

[Bug 1478844] [NEW] Last Kernel Update crash wine and other app like Firefox

2015-07-28 Thread Miguel
Public bug reported:

Last night I install the kernel update. After that firefox starts crashing,
wine-staging can't work and load programs, and I see a lot of errors in
programs like my weather.
I don't know what is going on and what appends with this Kernel in changes.

[Bug 1477816] Re: Splash screen when you switch tab in Browser

2015-07-28 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Can you please describe better what the issue is? I’m afraid I don’t
understand what you mean by splash screen. Do you see the screen
flicker/flash? If so, when? When opening the tabs view? When scrolling
it? When tapping a tab to open it?

[Bug 1478838] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2015-07-28 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From pavsu...@in.ibm.com 2015-07-28 09:59 EDT---
In-order to have the In Band IPMI Firmware upgrade feature,
we require the ipmitool to be 1.8.15 version included in the Ubuntu 14.04.3 ISO.
Since, many of the features for In-band support are available with IPMI 1.8.15
version.

Latest version of source is available in
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipmitool/ which is required to be
included in the distro release.

[Bug 1473903] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2015-07-28 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From thierry.fa...@fr.ibm.com 2015-07-28 09:53 EDT---
The parted-3.2 NEWS file provides the info:
libparted: On multipath systems new partitions would sometimes not appear,
reporting 'device-mapper: create ioctl failed: Device or resource busy' until
the system was rebooted. Added dm_udev_wait calls to synchronize parted with
udev.
This refer to thread
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-parted/2010-09/msg7.html
pointing to a patch in libparted/arch/linux.c.
Apparently that patch could be added to current patches adding the dm-*
functionailities already available in current 2.3 version.

Could it be possible to validate the idea of just applying that
udev_sync patch makes the difference ?

This is exactly the same place the patch for LP1418260 tries to fix.
Apparently that patch is incomplete (or incorrect). With the attached
patch the crash disappears.

[Bug 1472794] Re: [Acer Aspire 5250] Black screen after upgrade to 3.19.0-22-generic

2015-07-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
zub, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.19 to
4.2-rc4 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately
by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may
be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you
please do this following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1474898] Re: Wily RT3290 same problem as from bug #1049466

2015-07-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
corrado venturini, as per
h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6732463swLangOid=8swEnvOid=4158
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(F.39). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1478849] [NEW] infinite loop in /usr/share/mysql/mysql-systemd-start causes non-interactive installations to fail/hang

2015-07-28 Thread Elias Probst
Public bug reported:

# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 15.04
Release:15.04

# apt-cache policy mysql-server-5.6
mysql-server-5.6:
  Installed: 5.6.24-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 5.6.24-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 5.6.24-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

# Problem description

When installing mysql-server-5.6 with DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive
(which is done e.g. by Puppet, SaltStack and other config management
tools), the installation will fail as not only files will be deployed to
the filesystem, but also an attempt to start the (unconfigured) service
is made.

Running the following command can be used to reproduce the issue on
Ubuntu 15.04 here:

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get -q -y -o DPkg::Options::=--force-
confold -o DPkg::Options::=--force-confdef install mysql-server-5.6

The result is that the service start (run as StartExecPost=) hangs for
quite a while in the endless loop in /usr/share/mysql/mysql-systemd-
start:

pinger () {
  while /bin/true ; do
sleep 1
mysqladmin ping /dev/null 21 break
  done
}

After a while of nothing happening, systemd decides it had enough of it,
kills the script and reports a service startup failure.

The full output of 'apt-get install …' is pasted below:

[Bug 1478848] [NEW] Grub efi does not execute /efi/boot/grub.cfg and goes in shell mode

2015-07-28 Thread Nicolas Gama
Public bug reported:

After installing Ubuntu 15.04 in efi mode, grub efi amd64 does not boot
properly:
when the computer boots, it goes directly into grub shell mode,
it does not execute the grub.cfg configuration file in the efi partition
(either /efi/boot/grub.cfg or /efi/ubuntu/grub.cfg, depending on whereas the
--removable option was provided or not).

from the grub shell, executing the following command resumes normal boot
operations.
configfile /efi/boot/grub.cfg
or
configfile /efi/ubuntu/grub.cfg

Reproduce this bug:

install grub with:
the alternate cd (regular ubuntu installation)
or
grub-install --target x86_64-efi --efi-directory ... --root-directory ...
or
grub-install --target x86_64-efi --efi-directory ... --root-directory ...
--removable

and try to reboot.

[Bug 1351890] Re: Changing external screen resolution with dual monitors

2015-07-28 Thread Iain Lane
** Description changed:

+
+ [Impact]
+
+ Due to a bug in GTK+2, mate-display-properties crashes when the screen
+ resolution is changed *outside* of it (e.g. by changing the resolution
+ not via that app, but somewhere else).
+
+ The attached patches fix the issue in GTK+2 and prevent crashing of
+ m-d-p.
+
+ Since this issue caused much inconvenience for users, the fix should be
+ backported to all current stable releases of Ubuntu.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ The easiest way to reproduce it is via Virtualbox:
+
+ 1. Run mate-display-properties in the VM.
+ 2. Make the VM go full-screen.
+ 3. See m-d-p crash.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ After several months of testing the patched version of GTK+2 in Debian
Jessie, I found no regressions.
+ I consider the regression risk very low here.
+
+ There were originally some bugs with a few applications (notably
+ Spotify) crashing. We think we've backported patches to fix that - some
+ refcounting issues - but please check a few apps to see they still work.

[Bug 1475941] Re: Kernel panic - not syncing (clean 15.10 install)

2015-07-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Fibonacci, are you able to boot into a prior kernel version via GRUB
that doesn't demonstrate this problem?

** Tags added: latest-bios-0160

** Summary changed:

- Kernel panic - not syncing (clean 15.10 install)
+ Kernel panic - not syncing

** Description changed:

- I've just installed Kubuntu 15.10 and was able to boot into it once and
+ I've just installed Kubuntu 15.04 and was able to boot into it once and
update the kernel. Since then, everytime I try to boot into it I get the
  following error message:

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-
  block(0,0)

There might be other error messages before but I cannot see them as they
pass too fast, and the only messages I see are those shown in the
  attached picture.

After some trial and error, I've discovered that this bug occurs when
booting with the quiet option. When I remove it, the kernel boots fine
most of the time (not everytime, but it's a definite improvement).

What's happening and how do I prevent it?

[Bug 1349949] Re: Juju's mongodb does not need to log every command in syslog

2015-07-28 Thread Christian Reis
The code which sets up the role lives here:

https://github.com/juju/juju/blame/8da94246468a4da71e62894f7a8a1bbbce112697/mongo/admin.go#L136

The roles we are setting up are:

Roles: []mgo.Role{
mgo.RoleDBAdminAny,
mgo.RoleUserAdminAny,
mgo.RoleClusterAdmin,
mgo.RoleReadWriteAny},

Why do we need RoleClusterAdmin and RoleReadWriteAny (in particular,
because they don't seem to be defined in the database)?

[Bug 1478849] [NEW] infinite loop in /usr/share/mysql/mysql-systemd-start causes non-interactive installations to fail/hang

2015-07-28 Thread Elias Probst
Public bug reported:

# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 15.04
Release:15.04

# apt-cache policy mysql-server-5.6
mysql-server-5.6:
  Installed: 5.6.24-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 5.6.24-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 5.6.24-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

# Problem description

When installing mysql-server-5.6 with DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive
(which is done e.g. by Puppet, SaltStack and other config management
tools), the installation will fail as not only files will be deployed to
the filesystem, but also an attempt to start the (unconfigured) service
is made.

Running the following command can be used to reproduce the issue on
Ubuntu 15.04 here:

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get -q -y -o DPkg::Options::=--force-
confold -o DPkg::Options::=--force-confdef install mysql-server-5.6

The result is that the service start (run as StartExecPost=) hangs for
quite a while in the endless loop in /usr/share/mysql/mysql-systemd-
start:

pinger () {
  while /bin/true ; do
sleep 1
mysqladmin ping /dev/null 21 break
  done
}

After a while of nothing happening, systemd decides it had enough of it,
kills the script and reports a service startup failure.

The full output of 'apt-get install …' is pasted below:

[Bug 1478870] [NEW] Cropped large buttons in Gnome Flashback session

2015-07-28 Thread Ignacy Gawędzki
Public bug reported:

Since Ubuntu 15.04, dialog boxes happen to have larger-than-usual
buttons which are cropped (see the attached screenshot).

This happens only in themes Ambiance and Radiance, as far as I can tell.

This has been tried on a fresh install of 15.04 as well. It's hard to
tell whether this is a bug in the themes or in gnome-session-flashback,
so I first try here.

Ubuntu 15.04
Release 15.04

light-themes 14.04+15.04.20150410-0ubuntu1
gnome-session-flashback 1:3.14.0-3ubuntu11
compiz 1:0.9.12.1+15.04.20150410.1-0ubuntu1

** Affects: light-themes (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Attachment added: Screenshot of a dialog box with Ambiance theme in Gnome
Flashback session
