[Bug 1484932] Re: ipv6 dhcp client never started.

2015-09-27 Thread Pasi Sjöholm
What I'm experiencing is that.. if I connect another device into a
network (one which has a working dhcpv6-client-software) the network-
manager-based device will also get IPv6-address but I I don't.. the
network-manager based device never gets IPv6-address.

[Bug 1500183] Re: 15.10 beta does not resume from hibernate

2015-09-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1500183/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

[Bug 1441162] Re: cannot execute sudo permissions

2015-09-27 Thread StuartCarter
Thank you for responding, Tyler.

Kubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
KDE 4.13.3
Kernel 3.13.0-3-generic

As far as I recall, 5 months after the issue, it seemed to happen after
a batch of security updates. I always keep my OS fully patched with all
recommended updates which is what has made this even more frustrating -
deploying a "Security update" appears to have broken basic
functionality.

Updated to the latest version offered by Gigabytes @Bios program.

Rotation is still broken.
if i run xrandr --output HDMI-0 --rotate normal the screen works but if i use
--rotate left, right or inverted the screen is corrupted.
as i said it works fine on arch and previous versions of ubuntu.

jiffy, as per
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3765010=8=1093
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(F.20). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1500228] Re: When scrolling back up some of the bottom comes up as a sort of sleeve

2015-09-27 Thread Colin Watson
This isn't the fault of the manual page documents themselves. I'm not
sure exactly what *is* going wrong here; it's probably either a bug in
the terminal emulator itself or a bug in the pager you're using. You
should add information to this bug about what pager you're using (if you
don't know, it's probably "less", but perhaps you changed it).

** Package changed: manpages (Ubuntu) => gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1434219] [NEW] video mode switches make graphical processes unstable?

2015-09-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Not sure what to hang this on. I have a Lenovo T550 with an Intel
HD5500.

It barely worked in Ubuntu 14.04 so here we are on 15.04 beta.

light-locker seems to change video mode, so logging out and logging in again
breaks the desktop.
xscreensaver does not suffer from this problem.

Sometimes I get weird sideways-scrolling of the entire display (analogue
tv anyone?)

[Bug 1442930] Re: GPU hang after resume (intel i915, asus ux303 broadwell)

2015-09-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Stepan Roucka, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and
trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, the mainline kernel is not a
software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because
of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug.
Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

[Bug 1450952] Re: i915 backlight controls don't cover full range

2015-09-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Hinrik Örn Sigurðsson, thank you for reporting this and helping make
Ubuntu better. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-
support/product/xps-13-9343-laptop/drivers/advanced an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A05). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

[Bug 1486174] Re: No fonts after wake up from sleep

2015-09-27 Thread Ingo Fr
Hi Christoph, thank you for your help so far and for the helpful pointers to
the ubuntu help pages.
Unfortunately, the ASUS website does not provide the new BIOS directly but only
indirectly in the form of a windows installer. I sent them an email asking for
the BIOS separately. However, I doubt that this would solve the problem. I
experience the exact same problem on a different computer at work (a Thinkpad
T450S) which is also running xubuntu. I'll try updating the BIOS anyway and
keep you updated about the success.

[Bug 1392669] Re: Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:40:48: Junk at end of value

2015-09-27 Thread Aielyn
Just to add more information about the true source of this error...

It's due to gtk-theme-config - on using it, it overwrites
~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css, and this is where the errors are coming from.
I have confirmed that using gtk-theme-config after editing gtk.css to
add the semicolons will cause them to disappear again.

I have filed a bug report against gtk-theme-config, here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk-theme-config/+bug/1500210
- but in the meantime, as a workaround, manually editing in the
semicolons will fix the errors.

@Simon: Please note that this is not a bug with any particular theme.

[Bug 1500216] [NEW] Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message

2015-09-27 Thread NickTh
Public bug reported:

Trying to add another language as the default in the system, indicates the
message that "Language support is not installed completely" [screenshot1].
That's an ordinary message.

When I'm clicking the "Install" button I get an error [screenshot2].

>From this point and after, I cannot call back the Language Support menu.
It does not open at all.

It will open if I restart the session and it will fail again with the
same error message.

$ sudo service lightdm restart

The "workaround" to alter the system language is to click the "Remind me
later" button instead of "Install".

How to reproduce.

1) Open the Language Support
2) Where the message window indicates that "Language support is not installed
completely" [screenshot1] hit the "Install" button.

This bug has been filled manually, as I cannot find any crash report in
/var/crash/ folder.

Regards
NickTh

[Bug 1495116] Re: booting with amd64 kernel and completely i386 userland is unstable during the system upstart

2015-09-27 Thread Ivan Zakharyaschev
Similar random reboots with a amd64 kernel in the cases with the same
CPU were reported (quite a long ago,for Ubuntu 9.04) there:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1137153

They also say that some other distros also had this problem
(e.g.,Gentoo), but there were successful boots of some Knoppix and Mint
distros.

That discussion is of course about a completely amd64 system, not like
in my experiment (amd64 kernel + i386 userland).

So, it well might be a problem notrelated to my experimental mixof amd64
and i386.

I wonder whether there has been found a workaround ever since. (In my
case, it's that simple: if the bootup succeeds, there are no more
problems/reboots for hours and even days.)

[Bug 1500183] [NEW] 15.10 beta does not resume from hibernate

2015-09-27 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I've installed 15.10 beta1 on a new PC with an SSD, and used the
following scheme (I've used that plenty of times with 14.04):

/dev/sda1: unencrypted ext4 , mounted as /boot
/dev/sda2: luks-encrypted swap
/dev/sda3: luks-encrypted btrfs mounte as /root

Sending the machine into hibernating with pm-hibernate works, but it ignores
the hibernated state when powering ab, it just does a fresh boot.

[Bug 1453174] Re: Opening of magnet links broken

2015-09-27 Thread Bert Vermeulen
In the Gnome and Unity desktop environments, xdg-open calls gvfs-open
with the URL. However this is broken in the current version (1.24.1):
see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=738690

The patch has been in master since May 2015, but it looks like Ubuntu's
gvfs package is lagging behind. Even in Ubuntu 15.10 gvfs has not been
upgraded. Looks like it's in 1.24.2, or the patch can be backported into
Ubuntu.

[Bug 1490298] Re: Lowercase months in Portuguese language

2015-09-27 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
I would have expected these strings to come from glib. But "July" seems
to be uncapitalized as "julho" in glib20.

But then, "Wednesday" is translated in glib20 not as "quarta-feira", but
as "4ª feira", so I guess indicator-datetime is getting these strings
from somewhere else.

A site search reveals a few other projects
with capitalized weekday names, but none that indicator-datetime would
be using.

[Bug 1335642] Re: mdadm runs into infinite loop and prevents initrd/initramfs phase to finish on boot

2015-09-27 Thread Cal Leeming [Simplicity Media Ltd]
Indeed the fix from #4 seems to solve the problem for me. I can confirm
that the update from #9 is likely right, this is certainly a race
condition, sometimes it will boot without problem and other times it
gets stuck.

If I run `ls /dev/mapper` from busybox before executing the `udevadm`
command, it doesn't show the LVM volumes. Once I run that command, the
devices then appear.

My drive configuration is as follows:

RAID 1 on 2 drives
LVM on Software RAID
Root partition on LVM, not separate boot partition
No encryption

This was an out of the box install of 14.04.3 LTS, and should almost
certainly be treated as a serious bug

https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/K50IJ/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to
your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (218). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

** Description changed:

I have been having an issue with garbled graphics on an ASUS K50IJ
Laptop with Intel GMA X4500 integrated graphics.

It is a difficult bug to recreate in a timely fashion as it requires you
to be on the system for a decent amount of time (like an hour, sometimes
less). Usage scenario to recreate this bug: would be to gradually build
up to 10 Firefox or Google Chrome tabs. Minimize the applications, Open
a 4000x3000 pixel photo in GIMP, do some editing. After using the
computer for a while, go to the launcher and click Firefox or Chrome.
Close Firefox or Chrome and then close GIMP. Firefox will take a while
to close and while the hard drive is loading, the screen will suddenly
  become garbled.

I've been a user of Ubuntu since version 6.06 (Dapper Drake) and have
been using it exclusively on this laptop since version 12.04. I have not
  had this issue until 14.04.

- The temporary workaround is to log out and log back in, after which the
- graphics are back to normal. I also checked to see if it was a memory
- issue but System Monitor does not appear to display such an issue.

[Bug 1500237] [NEW] some menu items do not initially appear in HUD

2015-09-27 Thread Casey
Public bug reported:

When running certain programs that use Jayatana, such as Jabref
(http://jabref.sourceforge.net/), some menu items do not appear in the
HUD searches until one has opened the corresponding menu at least once.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Download and install JabRef.
2. Launch Jabref.
3. Press Alt to bring up the HUD interface and search for "quit" (which resides
under the File menu). Confirm that "quit" does not surface.
4. After clicking on the File menu once, "quit" now appears in HUD searches.

These steps reliably reproduce the bug for me in Ubuntu 15.04.

[Bug 1500242] [NEW] Bluetooth device (Jabra BT250, Audi A3 car kit) can not be connected with BQ Aquaris 4.5

2015-09-27 Thread Uranicus
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
Requirements: Aquaris E4.5, Jabra BT250 blue tooth handset device (rather old
one supports blue tooth 1.1 and therefore I thought should be no issue) or Audi
car kit (A3 2012 model)

1. Put Jabra BT250 into receiving mode
2. Phone searches automatically every 15 - 30 seconds for a new blue tooth
device
3. Phone finds Jabra BT250 and asks for pairing code
4. Enter code into phone
5. Jabra BT250 automatically exits the pairing mode (which is a sign that
pairing should have worked)
6. Phone looses connection to Jabra BT250
7. Manual reconnection via phone works (shows Jabra BT250 as being connected)
but ignores the device

Same behaviour with Audi car kit (Audi A3, 2012 model)

EXPECTED:
I expect that the blue tooth kits work similar to my Seat Alhambra (also 2012
model) where the blue tooth pairing etc. works great (except some bugs which
are already filed).

ACTUAL:
No connection to the blue tooth device

VERSIONS:
OS-Build-Number: 25
Ubuntu-Image: 20150825.1

POSSIBLE ROOT CAUSE:
Is this issue also solved as soon as bluez5 is implemented? When will this be?

** Affects: bluez (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
