Just to add more information about the true source of this error...

It's due to gtk-theme-config - on using it, it overwrites
~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css, and this is where the errors are coming from.
I have confirmed that using gtk-theme-config after editing gtk.css to
add the semicolons will cause them to disappear again.

I have filed a bug report against gtk-theme-config, here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk-theme-config/+bug/1500210
- but in the meantime, as a workaround, manually editing in the
semicolons will fix the errors.

@Simon: Please note that this is not a bug with any particular theme.
