[Bug 1495904] Re: Account-polld reports no updates, so no gmail notifications
I have been noticing the same issue on Meizu MX4. I would say that most of the emails will go without notification so I decided to test if I can reproduce the issue or find some common nominator in the cases where the notification is not shown. To my surprise it worked quite well and the only way to reproduce it was to leave the gmail web app open and then lock the phone. I don't know if this is useful or not, but here's what I tested: -All emails sent from zoho -I have @iki.fi address which is directed to my @gmail.com address. Most of the test emails we're sent directly to the @gmail.com. -Only one google account configured, no other email accounts in use -logs from account-polld: http://paste.ubuntu.com/12940752/ -OTA-7 installed The test results: Starting with phone locked, gmail web app closed 07:50 email sent, 07:51 notification received: phone kept locked 07:52 email sent, 07:56 notification received: notifications cleared, phone kept locked 07:57 email sent, 08:01 notification received: unlock phone, open notification in gmail web app, read email, go to inbox in gmail web app, leave it open and lock phone 08:03 email sent, 08:10 no notification: unlock phone, gmail web mail shows email in inbox. Close gmail web app, open dekko, lock phone 08:12 email sent, 08:16 notification received: turn off wifi and use 3G 08:20 email sent to gmail, 08:22 notification received 08:20 email sent to iki, 08:22 notification received: clear notifications, open gmail web app, go to home screen / scope, lock phone 08:28 email sent to iki, 08:32 notification received: unlock phone, open gmail web app and leave it in foreground, lock phone 08:32 email sent to iki, 08:40 no notification As a bonus: 09:04 received unrelated email (heard notification sound from my work phone which syncs also my personal email). After waiting about 5 minutes, I unlocked the Meizu and there still was no notification. There was no gmail web app running. Leaving gmail web app open and locking the phone seemed to cause the issue, but I believe that most of the time I don't have it open, not even in the background. The account-polld log shows 09:11 token expired, but otherwise I don't see anything special in it. The gmail account is #2 and disabled Facebook is #3. I'm happy to provide more logs and test further if needed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1495904 Title: Account-polld reports no updates, so no gmail notifications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1495904/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1507201] Re: mouse cursor is invisible after installation of 32 bit Xubuntu 14.04.3; 15.04, 15.10 betas and daily image
Xubuntu 15.10 32 bit Final Release has a mouse pointer after the end of installation reboot. Just to make sure it wouldn't go away I installed oxygen-cursor-theme and changed the mouse pointer, but I think that just selecting one of the included mouse pointers, including DMZ White, is enough to have the mouse back after the second boot. Just don't leave it in the "Default" setting (where the default theme preview is empty) before you shutdown or reboot. It seems that so far I'm the only one complaining about this bug so I would agree it has a very low importance but it still happens with the Xubuntu/Lubuntu/Ubuntu 14.04.2 and 14.04.3 32 bit ISO's. So it's an Ubuntu core bug. It doesn't affect any of the x86_64 iso's, only the 32 bit versions, I've tried installing with Xubuntu 14.04.2 and 14.04.3 x86_64 ISO's and there were no problems. It's just that I have an older netbook with 1 GB RAM and so I have to use the 32 bit versions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507201 Title: mouse cursor is invisible after installation of 32 bit Xubuntu 14.04.3; 15.04, 15.10 betas and daily image To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1507201/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1509762] [NEW] After upgrade to Ubuntu 15.10, Systemd fail to boot
Public bug reported: After successful upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10 from 15.04, restart system option couldn't boot, seemed in a loop, showing mouse pointer in the center of the screen for few seconds and then a blinking cursor at the upper left corner, instead. Used Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot and selected Upstart option which successfully booted the system but showing a message like "Upstart; Error while reading from descriptor, broken pipe." On my next attempt to boot using default systemd option I observed a message like "Systemd(1) Failed to setup API Bus. Connection timed out." , and then saw a window saying like "running low graphic" and then went into the same loop. Now, I can boot using Upstart option only not the systemd option. [Bug 1507201] Re: mouse cursor is invisible after installation of 32 bit Xubuntu 14.04.3; 15.04, 15.10 betas and daily image
** Description changed: - Bug: Mouse cursor/pointer is invisible after an installation and reboot of Xubuntu i386 14.04.3; 15.04; 15.10 betas and daily image. The same happens after installation and reboot of Ubuntu i386 15.04 (didn't try other versions). The mouse is still there because we can see it act on the corner whiskermenu, and when it passes over the menu entries or the xfce panel icons but it's invisible, so it's not possible to use the system to report the bug via the terminal tools. The mouse pointer works perfectly in all the live sessions and even during installation. It's only after rebooting that the pointer disappears (trackpad or mouse it's the same). - I was using Linux Mint 17.2 on my work/stable partition but decided to test Xubuntu on my sda3 test partition and went through all the installations that I referred above. - I ended up installing Voyager 14.04 (with Xfce 4.12) which is a Xubuntu based, actually it's the Xubuntu core, with very customized icon/themes, settings, scripts, conky, etc. - Verified that the bug doesn't occur when installing Xubuntu 14.04 and Xubuntu 14.04.2. But at 14.04.3, then 15.04, then 15.10 the bug is there. + Bug: Mouse cursor/pointer is invisible after an installation and reboot of Xubuntu i386 14.04.2, 14.04.3 and 15.04. But at versions 14.04.2, 14.04.3, then 15.04, the bug is there. Could it be from the particular hardware configuration I'm using? CPU: Intel Atom N455 @1.66 Ghz (1 core, 2 threads); RAM: 1 Gb; GPU: Intel GMA 3150 (integrated, shared memory, own memory=64 Mb). This Acer Aspire One 260 notebook is from 2010. - Of course Linux Mint Xfce 32bit 17.1 and 17.2 do not have this bug at all. Installation is flawless. - And now what I found out: in one installation of Xubuntu 14.04.3 I managed to get the mouse pointer back by using the reaction to the mouse over in the Settings menu to go to Mouse and Touchpad settings and there, with a lot of luck I was able to change the default theme to DMZ Black and got the mouse pointer back. Of course I forgot to file the bug report (sorry!) because I then was trying to fix it and installed the oxygen-mouse-cursor, via Synaptic, then selected oxy-white as default cursor. But the oxy-white cursor only appeared inside some apps and setting screens, like Firefox, Synaptic, etc. On the desktop it reverted back to DMZ-Black. I NOTICED that the default mouse CURSOR PREVIEW, in Mouse & Touchpad settings IS EMPTY, DOES NOT show ANY PREVIEW at all. Then I discovered that in "/usr/share/icons/default" there is only a symlink called "index.theme", which contains this text: "[Icon Theme] Inherits=DMZ-White" and links to "/etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme", which is anoth er (!?) symlink file that links to "/usr/share/icons/DMZ-White/cursor.theme" and contains the same "[Icon Theme] Inherits=DMZ-White" text. Sorry but isn't this way of setting the default mouse cursor theme a complete denial of the KISS principle? And it sure does look like a kludge to me, but then I only use Linux since May of 2013, so forgive my tone, I'm pretty sure I'm talking about stuff that I don't understand enough, sorry. And on top of all this, I saw no other "invisible mouse cursor" bug report in Launchpad, and trust me, I really looked for it. So I guess this means bad luck for me, I'm the only one affected, unless other users of Acer Aspire One are newbies and don't submitted the bug at all. They just changed to Linux Mint when their mouse was gone. By the way I will now examine how Linux Mint deals with the default mouse problem and will compare system folders, at least the ones I've mentioned above. So I'll do a clean install on Linux Mint Xfce 17.2 on my test partitio n. - I don't know if you're interested in what I might find. It seems that you deserve a prize just for reading through all this stuff! - Well you have my email: kafsh...@gmail.com and, if something happens to this bug, I would like to help with it. Many thanks for all that might happen and don't worry, if it is the hardware's fault I can always use Mint, although I prefer Xubuntu. + But Linux Mint Xfce 32bit 17.1 and 17.2 ISO's do not have this

[Bug 1509764] [NEW] Machine Check Exception with Broadwell CPU
Public bug reported: My system freezes and reboots 30 seconds later. This happens at random times between shortly after boot or up to three ours after boot. My CPU is a Core i5 5675C. I think it is the same problem discussed here https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103351 They have a microcode update as a fix there. All Broadwell CPUs seem to be affected. It does not happen with Fedora 22. There are two workarounds that help for some people: 1. boot with "processor.max_cstate=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=0 idle=poll" 2. [Bug 1509792] [NEW] only function keys but not the regular keys working, acer aspire U5 620
Public bug reported: After installing Ubuntu on a new Acer aspire u5 620 I found that the wireless keyboard is not working properly (Keyboard: Acer KBRF96211). The mouse works just fine and I can use the arrow keys in the grub menu (so I am sure the usb plug is working). Moreover, I just realized, that while pressing Fn the function keys are working but not the regular keys (either with or without pressing the function key)?! I have tried it with 14.10 15.04 and 15.10. I disabled the touchscreen in the file 10-evdev.conf to make sure it does not interfere with the wireless keyboard but nothing changed. When I plug in a regular usb-keyboard it is recognized immediately and works fine. Did anyone experience this before? Can you think of a workaround to "establish contact" to the other keys on the keyboard? Or do you see a chance to obtain or adapt specific drivers? I really like Ubuntu and want to keep using it, any help would be appreciated ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-16.19-generic 4.2.3 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-16-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sun Oct 25 12:40:27 2015 DistUpgraded: 2015-10-25 08:41:39,601 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: wily DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bcmwl, 6.30.223.248+bdcom, 3.19.0-31-generic, x86_64: installed bcmwl, 6.30.223.248+bdcom, 4.2.0-16-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0416] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:0859] Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:0859] InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-10-27 (363 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140722.2) MachineType: Acer Aspire U5-620 ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.2.0-16-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=4b1b5f51-933c-44bc-a59b-9cd27b3a6af5 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to wily on 2015-10-25 (0 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 03/28/2014 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: P11-A1 dmi.board.name: Aspire U5-620 dmi.board.vendor: Acer dmi.chassis.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.chassis.type: 13 dmi.chassis.vendor: Acer dmi.chassis.version: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrP11-A1:bd03/28/2014:svnAcer:pnAspireU5-620:pvr:rvnAcer:rnAspireU5-620:rvr:cvnAcer:ct13:cvrToBeFilledByO.E.M.: dmi.product.name: Aspire U5-620 dmi.sys.vendor: Acer version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.12.2+15.10.20151015-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.64-1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 11.0.2-1ubuntu4 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 11.0.2-1ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.17.2-1ubuntu9 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.9.2-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.5.0+git20150819-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20150808-0ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.11-1ubuntu3 xserver.bootTime: Sun Oct 25 12:17:19 2015 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: Failed to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist, 0) Failed to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist, 0) xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.outputs: product id 61745 vendor ACR xserver.version: 2:1.17.2-1ubuntu9 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug compiz-0.9 ubuntu wily -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509792 Title: only function keys but not the regular keys working, acer aspire U5 620 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1509792/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1509666] Re: I cannot mount nfs shares from osx when using the new kernel
Nick Sillito, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/960GM- VGS3%20FX/?cat=Download=BIOS an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.40). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. [Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with kernel 4.2
Hi all. I too had the problem, much the same way as I had with 14.04 LTS some months ago. This time I followed this post and managed to uninstall fglrx-* packages and get my system to boot again: http://askubuntu.com/questions/620869/15-04-installed-fglrx-amd-ati- drivers-wont-boot But anyways, I agree with those who said that it's unpleasant to be faced with the issue of a non-functioning system basically within the last 3 releases or something. It could be OK for non-LTS releases, because you know you're about to get the bleeding edge software, but I hope that would not come again on the next LTS :) In the meantime, a huge THANKS to all the people involved in the fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1493888 Title: FGLRX incompatible with kernel 4.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1493888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1509556] Re: Kubuntu Wily upgrade screen glitch with 4.2 kernel
Bryan Cebuliak, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Hi Joachim, Yes, I did get the error each time I ran GIMP. I attribute the error to the installation of Adobe Reader .deb package I installed using Gdebi. [Bug 1470862] Re: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless
I could get rid of the problem through upgrading to 15.10 and getting rid of fglrx - BUT! - I was greeted with a black screen at first My displays could not be detected. Via ssh I remotely logged in from another computer and completely removed my ati drivers, removed my Xorg.conf, and reinstalled Xorg (https://askubuntu.com/questions/68306 /how-do-i-remove-the-proprietary-ati-drivers). Trying that please be sure you have remote access to your computer or could find yourself stuck in front of a black screen! So now I can agree Alberto Salvia Novella. My virtual consoles, my graphical session, and libreoffice (whose crashes had been the reason why I had to switch to fglrx) all work fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470862 Title: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer-updates/+bug/1470862/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1509794] Re: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0)
lorenzo.chianura, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. To advise, at this point, this is not considered a duplicate of another report, or vice versa. Despite this, as per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops- and-netbooks/lenovo-z-series-laptops/lenovo-z50-70 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (91). Thank you for your understanding. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1492764 [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0) ** Tags added: bios-outdated-91 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509794 Title: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1509794/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
