[Bug 1495904] Re: Account-polld reports no updates, so no gmail notifications

2015-10-25 Thread Mikko Majander
I have been noticing the same issue on Meizu MX4. I would say that most
of the emails will go without notification so I decided to test if I can
reproduce the issue or find some common nominator in the cases where the
notification is not shown. To my surprise it worked quite well and the
only way to reproduce it was to leave the gmail web app open and then
lock the phone.

I don't know if this is useful or not, but here's what I tested:

-All emails sent from zoho
-I have @iki.fi address which is directed to my @gmail.com address. Most of the
test emails we're sent directly to the @gmail.com.
-Only one google account configured, no other email accounts in use
-logs from account-polld: http://paste.ubuntu.com/12940752/
-OTA-7 installed

The test results:

Starting with phone locked, gmail web app closed
07:50 email sent, 07:51 notification received: phone kept locked
07:52 email sent, 07:56 notification received: notifications cleared, phone
kept locked
07:57 email sent, 08:01 notification received: unlock phone, open notification
in gmail web app, read email, go to inbox in gmail web app, leave it open and
lock phone
08:03 email sent, 08:10 no notification: unlock phone, gmail web mail shows
email in inbox. Close gmail web app, open dekko, lock phone
08:12 email sent, 08:16 notification received: turn off wifi and use 3G
08:20 email sent to gmail, 08:22 notification received
08:20 email sent to iki, 08:22 notification received: clear notifications, open
gmail web app, go to home screen / scope, lock phone
08:28 email sent to iki, 08:32 notification received: unlock phone, open gmail
web app and leave it in foreground, lock phone
08:32 email sent to iki, 08:40 no notification

As a bonus:
09:04 received unrelated email (heard notification sound from my work phone
which syncs also my personal email). After waiting about 5 minutes, I unlocked
the Meizu and there still was no notification. There was no gmail web app
running.

Leaving gmail web app open and locking the phone seemed to cause the
issue, but I believe that most of the time I don't have it open, not
even in the background. The account-polld log shows 09:11 token expired,
but otherwise I don't see anything special in it. The gmail account is
#2 and disabled Facebook is #3.

I'm happy to provide more logs and test further if needed.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1468611 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1468611

Hi,

I've run into the same problem and haven't found any useful answers so far.
However, doing exactly the opposite explained here:
https://community.flockport.com/topic/25/lxc-net-fails-to-create-bridge-on-ubuntu-server-14-04-1

It works for me.

So, temporary solution:

$ vim /etc/dnsmasq.d/lxc

Comment all lines:

# Tell any system-wide dnsmasq instance to make sure to bind to interfaces
# instead of listening on 0.0.0.0
# WARNING: changes to this file will get lost if lxc is removed.
#bind-interfaces
#except-interface=lxcbr0

So the file ends up doing nothing. After restarting the system, I get my
lxcbr0 back and I can access to my lxc machines again.

[Bug 1507201] Re: mouse cursor is invisible after installation of 32 bit Xubuntu 14.04.3; 15.04, 15.10 betas and daily image

2015-10-25 Thread Kafshiel
Xubuntu 15.10 32 bit Final Release has a mouse pointer after the end of
installation reboot. Just to make sure it wouldn't go away I installed
oxygen-cursor-theme and changed the mouse pointer, but I think that just
selecting one of the included mouse pointers, including DMZ White, is enough to
have the mouse back after the second boot. Just don't leave it in the "Default"
setting (where the default theme preview is empty) before you shutdown or
reboot.
It seems that so far I'm the only one complaining about this bug so I would
agree it has a very low importance but it still happens with the
Xubuntu/Lubuntu/Ubuntu 14.04.2 and 14.04.3 32 bit ISO's. So it's an Ubuntu core
bug. It doesn't affect any of the x86_64 iso's, only the 32 bit versions, I've
tried installing with Xubuntu 14.04.2 and 14.04.3 x86_64 ISO's and there were
no problems. It's just that I have an older netbook with 1 GB RAM and so I have
to use the 32 bit versions.

[Bug 1509762] [NEW] After upgrade to Ubuntu 15.10, Systemd fail to boot

2015-10-25 Thread Naz Ahmed
Public bug reported:

After successful upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10 from 15.04, restart system option
couldn't boot, seemed in a loop, showing mouse pointer in the center of the
screen for few seconds and then a blinking cursor at the upper left corner,
instead. Used Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot and selected Upstart option which
successfully booted the system but showing a message like "Upstart; Error while
reading from descriptor, broken pipe."
On my next attempt to boot using default systemd option I observed a message
like "Systemd(1) Failed to setup API Bus. Connection timed out." , and then saw
a window saying like "running low graphic" and then went into the same loop.
Now, I can boot using Upstart option only not the systemd option.

I'm using Dell Optiplex 755 with NVIDIA 8400GS Graphic card,
Ubuntu 15.10 is installed on a external HD connected with one of external usb

Sorry, Christopher, the BIOSupdate made no difference. After
a few seconds to a minute or two the graphics are covered
with horizontal lines obscuring the screen same as the other
bloke's screen shot. I think navigating the LXDE menu seems
to trigger the behaviour, or not. The GUI eventually may
crash to a black screen. Only resortis to ctrl-alt-F[x]
switch to a command line interface terminal.

Something weird about the new Ubuntu kernels which is not in
the new Debian Sid4.2 or the previous 3.19 Ubuntu kernel..

[Bug 1507201] Re: mouse cursor is invisible after installation of 32 bit Xubuntu 14.04.3; 15.04, 15.10 betas and daily image

2015-10-25 Thread Kafshiel
** Description changed:

- Bug: Mouse cursor/pointer is invisible after an installation and reboot of
Xubuntu i386 14.04.3; 15.04; 15.10 betas and daily image. The same happens
after installation and reboot of Ubuntu i386 15.04 (didn't try other versions).
The mouse is still there because we can see it act on the corner whiskermenu,
and when it passes over the menu entries or the xfce panel icons but it's
invisible, so it's not possible to use the system to report the bug via the
terminal tools. The mouse pointer works perfectly in all the live sessions and
even during installation. It's only after rebooting that the pointer disappears
(trackpad or mouse it's the same).
- I was using Linux Mint 17.2 on my work/stable partition but decided to test
Xubuntu on my sda3 test partition and went through all the installations that I
referred above.
- I ended up installing Voyager 14.04 (with Xfce 4.12) which is a Xubuntu
based, actually it's the Xubuntu core, with very customized icon/themes,
settings, scripts, conky, etc.
- Verified that the bug doesn't occur when installing Xubuntu 14.04 and Xubuntu
14.04.2. But at 14.04.3, then 15.04, then 15.10 the bug is there.
+ Bug: Mouse cursor/pointer is invisible after an installation and reboot of
Xubuntu i386 14.04.2, 14.04.3 and 15.04. The same happens after installation
and reboot of Ubuntu i386 15.04 (didn't try other versions). The mouse is still
there because we can see it act on the corner whiskermenu, and when it passes
over the menu entries or the xfce panel icons but it's invisible, so it's not
possible to use the system to report the bug via the terminal tools. The mouse
pointer works perfectly in all the live sessions and even during installation.
It's only after rebooting that the pointer disappears (trackpad or mouse it's
the same).
+ I was using Linux Mint 17.2 on my work/stable partition but decided to test
Xubuntu on my sda3 test partition and went through all the installations that I
referred above.
+ Verified that the bug doesn't occur when installing Xubuntu 14.04. and Ubuntu
14.04. But at versions 14.04.2, 14.04.3, then 15.04, the bug is there.
Could it be from the particular hardware configuration I'm using? CPU: Intel
Atom N455 @1.66 Ghz (1 core, 2 threads); RAM: 1 Gb; GPU: Intel GMA 3150
(integrated, shared memory, own memory=64 Mb). This Acer Aspire One 260
notebook is from 2010.
- Of course Linux Mint Xfce 32bit 17.1 and 17.2 do not have this bug at all.
Installation is flawless.
- And now what I found out: in one installation of Xubuntu 14.04.3 I managed to
get the mouse pointer back by using the reaction to the mouse over in the
Settings menu to go to Mouse and Touchpad settings and there, with a lot of
luck I was able to change the default theme to DMZ Black and got the mouse
pointer back. Of course I forgot to file the bug report (sorry!) because I then
was trying to fix it and installed the oxygen-mouse-cursor, via Synaptic, then
selected oxy-white as default cursor. But the oxy-white cursor only appeared
inside some apps and setting screens, like Firefox, Synaptic, etc. On the
desktop it reverted back to DMZ-Black. I NOTICED that the default mouse CURSOR
PREVIEW, in Mouse & Touchpad settings IS EMPTY, DOES NOT show ANY PREVIEW at
all. Then I discovered that in "/usr/share/icons/default" there is only a
symlink called "index.theme", which contains this text: "[Icon Theme]
Inherits=DMZ-White" and links to "/etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme", which is
anoth
er (!?) symlink file that links to "/usr/share/icons/DMZ-White/cursor.theme"
and contains the same "[Icon Theme] Inherits=DMZ-White" text. Sorry but isn't
this way of setting the default mouse cursor theme a complete denial of the
KISS principle? And it sure does look like a kludge to me, but then I only use
Linux since May of 2013, so forgive my tone, I'm pretty sure I'm talking about
stuff that I don't understand enough, sorry. And on top of all this, I saw no
other "invisible mouse cursor" bug report in Launchpad, and trust me, I really
looked for it. So I guess this means bad luck for me, I'm the only one
affected, unless other users of Acer Aspire One are newbies and don't submitted
the bug at all. They just changed to Linux Mint when their mouse was gone. By
the way I will now examine how Linux Mint deals with the default mouse problem
and will compare system folders, at least the ones I've mentioned above. So
I'll do a clean install on Linux Mint Xfce 17.2 on my test partitio
 n.
- I don't know if you're interested in what I might find. It seems that you
deserve a prize just for reading through all this stuff!
- Well you have my email: kafsh...@gmail.com and, if something happens to this
bug, I would like to help with it. Many thanks for all that might happen and
don't worry, if it is the hardware's fault I can always use Mint, although I
prefer Xubuntu.
+ But Linux Mint Xfce 32bit 17.1 and 17.2 ISO's do not have this

[Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with kernel 4.2

2015-10-25 Thread Hanmac
falling back to radeon after some problems (i only got vesa)

runing /usr/bin/software-properties-gtk --open-tab=4
 (is part of my GPU)

says Trinity HD7660D
then it says Cedar Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series
(it changes each time i start software-properties-gtk which should not!!)

sometimes it does say its uses manual driver, sometimes it says it used
recommend one

it says three greyed options (the driver)
and the only option which is manual, why cant i switch to the normal video-ati
one?

also somehow not all my resolutions are supported :(

[Bug 1509764] [NEW] Machine Check Exception with Broadwell CPU

2015-10-25 Thread brainsail
Public bug reported:

My system freezes and reboots 30 seconds later. This happens at random times
between shortly after boot or up to three ours after boot. My CPU is a Core i5
5675C. I think it is the same problem discussed here
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103351
They have a microcode update as a fix there.
All Broadwell CPUs seem to be affected. It does not happen with Fedora 22.
There are two workarounds that help for some people:
1. boot with "processor.max_cstate=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=0 idle=poll"
2. Disable speedstep in the bios
Both don't work for me.

Reproducible: upgraded another Ubuntu installation in VM and got the same
result.
Since the bug prevents booting, I suggest to increase priority to High.

[Bug 1505757] Re: Lightdm lock invocation turns on screen

2015-10-25 Thread Necec
I have filed the same bugreport here
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1509767), closing this one.

** Changed in: lightdm
   Status: New => Invalid

** Description changed:

- Hello!
- On my Debian Jessie system with awesome (no DE) I face the following problem:
- I use lightdm and light-locker as a screenlocker (both versions 1.4.0 and
1.6.0 of light-locker tested, versions 1.10.3 and 1.16.2 of lightdm tested). If
I launch it with "--no-late-locking", then if my display turns of (Xorg
settings) session only gets locked when it turns on again, and so I can press
some key on the keyboard, and it will be handled before locker turns on ->
insecure.
-
- If I launch it without "--no-late-locking", then the following happens:
- Computer stands idle for 10 minutes, display turns off, screen locker turns
on, display turns back on automatically, I should wait another 10 minutes for
display to turn off again. Embarrassing... See
https://github.com/the-cavalry/light-locker/issues/69
+ remove

** Summary changed:

- Lightdm lock invocation turns on screen
+ removed

** Description changed:

- remove
+ removed

** Project changed: lightdm => lightdm (Ubuntu)

** Information type changed from Public to Private

They have a microcode update as a fix there.
All Broadwell CPUs seem to be affected. It does not happen with Fedora 22.
There are two workarounds that help for some people:
  1. boot with "processor.max_cstate=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=0 idle=poll"
  2. Disable speedstep in the bios
  Both don't work for me.

[Bug 1396118] Re: Source repo of jpylyzer needs update

2015-10-25 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting this issue.

> not sure who's the maintainer of the package in Ubuntu

A lot of packages are synced from Debian without changes, so they don't
necessarily have a dedicated maintainer in Ubuntu.

I found a corresponding bug report in Debian, and I see that this issue
was fixed in jpylyzer version 1.14.2-1. This has later been synced and
is available in Ubuntu 15.10, so I believe this can be closed as Fix
Released.

[Bug 1453538] Re: Invisible mouse pointer

2015-10-25 Thread Zhang Weiwu
Interesting, qkiz. This is what I experimented

1. Edit /etc/default/grub

Change the line –

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”quiet splash”

to

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=""

2. update grub

sudo update-grub2

3. reboot.

What I got:
1) plymouth seems to be disabled, there is no purple splash. In fact, the
screen never go purple, it:
2) screen display black when lightdm started, black, with only a white movable
mouse pointer.
3) Here I can type my password blindly, then the normal desktop shows up.

[Bug 1509614] Re: Wireless BCM43602 802.11ac 5 GHz not scanable on linux-firmware 1.1.49 - MacBook Pro 11, 5

2015-10-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Berg Lloyd-Haig, it is best to leave it as the linux package, given that
the support in the firmware is already provided, and no evidence has
been discussed noting this is confirmed a firmware issue, and not a
kernel or other one.

Despite this, could you please advise to the manufacturer and firmware
version of the wireless access point you are trying to connect to?

2015-10-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Hatem MASMOUDI, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/latitude-e5540-laptop/drivers an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A13). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status
Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

This adapter is not supported by the kernel yet.

The support has been added to bluetooth-next tree 5 days ago.

next.git/commit/drivers/bluetooth/btusb.c?id=2faf71ce90782d02e1710c12a19a2084fbbec5cc

I will build a dkms module shortly.

[Bug 1509805] [NEW] right click drag menu's missing

2015-10-25 Thread Freihut
Public bug reported:

Thunar 1.6.10 & Xubuntu 15.10 (Upgraded from 15.04):

-Select random file by right clicking it and try dragging and dropping
it somewhere else (normally the menu in the attached file would appear
on dropping the file on the destination)

But: You can't even go this far with the selected file, because some
other menu instantly appears which makes dragging and dropping some kind
of impossible

A downgrade of the binary of Thunar to 1.6.6 made this gone and it
behaved like expected.

[Bug 1273060] Re: [Fujitsu LIFEBOOK LH532 (UMA)] Ubuntu EFI install locks out firmware access

2015-10-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Satish, as per http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Download/ShowFiles.asp an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.07).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

[Bug 1509809] [NEW] Login screen is scrambled after resuming from sleep, not displaying inputs

2015-10-25 Thread Jan-Helge
Public bug reported:

After resuming from sleep, the login screen seems to be a collage of
different fragments from the desktop before going to sleep.

This is a regression from 15.04 where it worked perfectly :-)

Inputing the password and hitting enter brings up the desktop as
expected, so it would seem like a pure display issue.

[Bug 1495904] Re: Account-polld reports no updates, so no gmail notifications

2015-10-25 Thread Roascio Paolo
The issue that there is notifications if an application is in foreground
and the phone is locked is another story (https://bugs.launchpad.net
/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1507510) and the solution is
planned in ota-8...

I tried too to find some common nominator.

In my tests the only mails notified are those related to this bug (and not
generated by me), so, yours and the two from Pat.
Other mails are never notified, no matter if are marked as important, with or
without attachments, any sender. Date and time also doesn't seem to affect the
missing notification. simply account-polld ignores all mails in my account.

Since i bought the phone on june, i received a total of 9 notifications,
three as mentioned above, two in my tests (delete and recreate the gmail
account in the phone) and four random and unrelated...

[Bug 1509792] [NEW] only function keys but not the regular keys working, acer aspire U5 620

2015-10-25 Thread Pe
Public bug reported:

After installing Ubuntu on a new Acer aspire u5 620 I found that the
wireless keyboard is not working properly (Keyboard: Acer KBRF96211).
The mouse works just fine and I can use the arrow keys in the grub menu
(so I am sure the usb plug is working). Moreover, I just realized, that
while pressing Fn the function keys are working but not the regular keys
(either with or without pressing the function key)?! I have tried it
with 14.10 15.04 and 15.10.

I disabled the touchscreen in the file 10-evdev.conf to make sure it
does not interfere with the wireless keyboard but nothing changed. When
I plug in a regular usb-keyboard it is recognized immediately and works
fine.

Did anyone experience this before?

Can you think of a workaround to "establish contact" to the other keys
on the keyboard? Or do you see a chance to obtain or adapt specific
drivers? I really like Ubuntu and want to keep using it, any help would
be appreciated

[Bug 1509666] Re: I cannot mount nfs shares from osx when using the new kernel

2015-10-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Nick Sillito, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/960GM-
VGS3%20FX/?cat=Download=BIOS an update to your computer's buggy and
outdated BIOS is available (1.40). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

[Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with kernel 4.2

2015-10-25 Thread Luca Finzi Contini
Hi all. I too had the problem, much the same way as I had with 14.04 LTS some
months ago.
This time I followed this post and managed to uninstall fglrx-* packages and
get my system to boot again:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/620869/15-04-installed-fglrx-amd-ati-
drivers-wont-boot

But anyways, I agree with those who said that it's unpleasant to be
faced with the issue of a non-functioning system basically within the
last 3 releases or something. It could be OK for non-LTS releases,
because you know you're about to get the bleeding edge software, but I
hope that would not come again on the next LTS :)

In the meantime, a huge THANKS to all the people involved in the fix.

[Bug 1509556] Re: Kubuntu Wily upgrade screen glitch with 4.2 kernel

2015-10-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Bryan Cebuliak, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder)? Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

Re: [Bug 1488469] Re: GIMP crashes on startup

2015-10-25 Thread Gavin
Hi Joachim,

Yes, I did get the error each time I ran GIMP. I attribute the error to
the installation of Adobe Reader .deb package I installed using Gdebi.
Removing Adobe completely, re-installing GIMP and replacing the .GIMP
folder in my home directory resolved the issue.

I have followed your automated debugging suggestion.

Thanks bro!

All the best,
Gavin

[Bug 1283775] Re: Launcher: icon pips are not always updated properly

2015-10-25 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
It works as it should for me on 15.10. I also checked LiveCD in
VirtualBox and pips update properly.

Even in case when I have window opened in first workspace and then I
open another window in second workspace and move it into first workspace
and then back again to second. Pips are updated properly.

Maybe you should specify if it affects all programs or only some of them
and other specific details. For example is this a problem with
unmaximized windows or maximized, does it have anything to do with
workspaces, any settings for Unity out of the default.

[Bug 1470862] Re: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless

2015-10-25 Thread Michael Satke
I could get rid of the problem through upgrading to 15.10 and getting
rid of fglrx - BUT! - I was greeted with a black screen at first My
displays could not be detected. Via ssh I remotely logged in from
another computer and completely removed my ati drivers, removed my
Xorg.conf, and reinstalled Xorg (https://askubuntu.com/questions/68306
/how-do-i-remove-the-proprietary-ati-drivers).

Trying that please be sure you have remote access to your computer or
could find yourself stuck in front of a black screen!

So now I can agree Alberto Salvia Novella. My virtual consoles, my
graphical session, and libreoffice (whose crashes had been the reason
why I had to switch to fglrx) all work fine.

[Bug 1509794] Re: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0)

2015-10-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
lorenzo.chianura, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

To advise, at this point, this is not considered a duplicate of another
report, or vice versa.

Despite this, as per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-
and-netbooks/lenovo-z-series-laptops/lenovo-z50-70 an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (91). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
