Re: [Bug 1383184] Re: Atheros Qualcomm Killer N1525 Wireless-AC [168c:003e] is not supported

2015-11-02 Thread chevrier
very simple.
Follow the instructions provided in the email you quoted, copied for your
convenience:

For now, you guys could use 15.10(purge the ath10k-dkms if you tried
installing it), and make a copy of

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/plain/ath10k/QCA6174
into /lib/firmware/ath10k/

in the git link - two folders, copy them in a QCA6174 folder you'll create
first, as with a fresh install, it won't exist.
reboot and your system will have wifi.
revert if you experience any difficulties.
tks

[Bug 1512378] [NEW] On first boot the setup wizard reporting page is not consistent with the default diagnostics setting in ubuntu-system-settings.

2015-11-02 Thread Richard Huddie
Public bug reported:

Device: arale
Image: version 152 from ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/meizu.en

Steps:

1) Using a freshly flashed device, run through the settings wizard. Note that
the reporting page is not shown.
2) Complete the edges demo.
3) Open System Settings -> Security & Privacy.
4) Note that default diagnostics setting is 'sent'.
5) Without changing any settings close ubuntu-system-settings.
6) Now enable the wizard again: adb shell rm
/home/phablet/.config/ubuntu-system-settings/wizard-has-run
7) Reboot device.
8) Run through the settings wizard again.
9) This time note that the reporting page is shown.

Expected result:

On first boot the reporting page of the settings wizard should be
consistent with the default value of the reporting setting in ubuntu-
system-settings.

[Bug 1511674] Re: Memory leak

2015-11-02 Thread Zbych
Yes, the problem is that pcscd's memory consumption is growing over time. It
doesn't matter if I stop my application or not.
I made the test again and after a minute, memory consumption increased from

[Bug 1511830] Re: apparmor denies VM startup when image is network mounted

2015-11-02 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug.

Can you show the xml for the libvirt managed nfs storage and for the VM?

The virt-aa-helper policy has

  # needed for when disk is on a network filesystem
  network inet,

Which I suspect should prevent this from happening, so I will target
this at apparmor.

[Bug 1493851] Re: Port to upstreamed versions of Audio Role patch

2015-11-02 Thread Timo Jyrinki
** Description changed:

The Qt 5.5 packages at https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-
service/+archive/ubuntu/landing-012 now include the upstream versions of
QML Playlist and Audio Role patches that went in to Qt 5.6.

There are some differences in the Audio Role patch compared to the
version on vivid-overlay PPA that requires changes.

- Qt 5.5 targets landing soon after wily+1 opens.
+ Qt 5.5 targets landing soon after xenial opens.
+
+ For reference,
+ Old API:
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-kde/qt/qtmultimedia.git/diff/debian/patches/adding_media_role_property.patch?h=ubuntu=d5149eefcd093d96be3191d5f8a7f622f788e1f4
+ New, upstreamed API:
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-kde/qt/qtmultimedia.git/tree/debian/patches/Add-audio-role-API-to-QMediaPlayer.patch?h=ubuntu

More information about Qt 5.5 at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/QtTesting

  The plan (2015-11-02):

Patch some components to work with both old API & Qt 5.4 + new API & Qt
5.5 - qtubuntu-camera, qtubuntu-media to detect at compile time and
  Unity 8 at runtime.

Pulseaudio and media-hub would land only to xenial, switching to the new
API as part of the Qt 5.5 silo.

Clock and dropping-letters drop the audio role usage as it's not
supposed to be used in those.

[Bug 1485785] Re: simplestreams in trusty ignores http 403 when downloading imag

One bit of info. At the moment, the gpg verification should have thrown
an error before uploading. That was fixed under bug 1487004 (trunk

So what is left, then is respecting the 403 as not "OK".

[Bug 1512359] [NEW] Dolphin missing serviceType "KonqPopupMenu/Plugin"

2015-11-02 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 15.10 Dolphin loses "KonqPopupMenu/Plugin"
serviceType. Copying
/usr/share/kde4/servicetypes/konqpopupmenuplugin.desktop to
~/.local/share/kservicetypes5/ fixes it so it looks like a packaging
issue rather than an upstream bug.

ProblemType: Bug

I'm not sure if this is something we really want... Opening some
indicator on unity7 doesn't unfocus the current app either. Also the use
case for the indicators is to quickly pull them down, change a single
setting and dismiss them again *without* interrupting the current
task/app.

[Bug 1113420] Re: Alt+ window menu shortcuts cannot be disabled

2015-11-02 Thread Bert Vermeulen
This is a general problem across Unity, and it is SUPREMELY annoying.

I like to use -t to open a terminal, and various other keyboard
shortcuts that use as the only modifier. That has always worked,
but it's broken on Unity: when I start an application that has a menu
that starts with the letter 't', that application steals the shortcut.
Instead of popping up a new terminal, it opens that menu.

Even worse, even after quitting the application the keyboard shortcut
remains broken.

To reproduce:
- in Unity settings -> keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Launchers change the "Launch
terminal" shortcut to ALT+T
- hit -t, new terminial pops up
- start Thunderbird or Okular, both of which have a "Tools" menu
- note -t now opens the Tools menu
- kill the application
- hit -t, nothing happens

The keyboard shortcut is still there in the settings. Restarting Unity
makes it work again.

Note that the applications that trigger this use GTK2 and Qt,
respectively. There is nothing wrong with an application registering
menu keyboard shortcuts -- but the window manager cannot be overruled by
an application!

Unity's keyboard shortcuts *must* take precedence.

[Bug 1488939] Re: kill -L behaviour (is it a doc or code error?)

2015-11-02 Thread Robie Basak
(I understand that if procps' documentation did not match behaviour that
would certainly be more important, but it turns out that it's really
just a mismatch between bash's builtin and procps' documentation and
behaviour, which is certainly a papercut level UX issue but not so
obviously a bug)

[Bug 1512361] [NEW] /etc/writable should be handled by the initrd, not by rootfs builds

2015-11-02 Thread Oliver Grawert
Public bug reported:

currently we set up linking in /etc/writable during image build for files that
need atomic writes (on the phone thats only three, on snappy it seems to
increase a lot).
doing it from livecd-rootfs is hackish and will bind us forever to that image
builder (or at least require to move such hacks forward and maintain them in a
potentially new build system). instead this should be set up from teh initrd
during boot, after the writable mounts are in place, this is a one time thing
(should check for existing linkage and just bail out then)

[Bug 1512383] [NEW] Automatically rotate to best orientation for photo

2015-11-02 Thread Matthew Exon
Public bug reported:

The orientation of a photo displayed in full-screen mode should have
nothing to do with the accelerometer. Photos should always be displayed
with their short axis at the short axis of the phone's screen, thus
maximising the viewable area. When switching between landscape and
portrait photos it is easier and more natural to rotate the phone 90
degrees as if it was a paper photo rather than trying to shake the phone
until its accelerometer takes the hint, and then balancing the phone so
that the accelerometer never changes its mind.

** Affects: gallery-app (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1280867] Re: nautilus segfaults in compare_by_display_name()

2015-11-02 Thread Iain Lane
I didn't reproduce this again since I made the fix, but I checked e.u.c
and there don't appear to be any regressions caused by this bug. I want
to clear the way for another SRU, so v-done.

[Bug 1493851] Re: Port to upstreamed versions of Audio Role patch

2015-11-02 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Assigned pulseaudio part to David with a tip from Jim. We at least to
know if pulseaudio needs to be changed for this or not.

** Description changed:

The Qt 5.5 packages at https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-
service/+archive/ubuntu/landing-012 now include the upstream versions of
QML Playlist and Audio Role patches that went in to Qt 5.6.

There are some differences in the Audio Role patch compared to the
version on vivid-overlay PPA that requires changes.

Qt 5.5 targets landing soon after wily+1 opens.

More information about Qt 5.5 at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/QtTesting

- qtubuntu-camera, qtubuntu-media, unity8 and ubuntu-clock-app need
- porting
+ The plan (2015-11-02):

- dropping-letters needs to drop its usage as it's not supposed to be used
- there.
+ Patch some components to work with both old API & Qt 5.4 + new API & Qt
+ 5.5 - qtubuntu-camera, qtubuntu-media to detect at compile time and
+ Unity 8 at runtime.

- The plan (2015-10-21) is to patch everything to work with both old API &
- Qt 5.4 + new API & Qt 5.5. qtubuntu-camera, qtubuntu-media can do the
- detection at compile time, unity8 and Clock need runtime detection.
+ Pulseaudio and media-hub would land only to xenial, switching to the new
+ API as part of the Qt 5.5 silo.
+
+ Clock and dropping-letters drop the audio role usage as it's not
+ supposed to be used in those.

[Bug 1511914] Re: Crash on edit with external editor, results in corrupt image database entry

2015-11-02 Thread Janne Moren
** Description changed:

Select "edit with external editor". The image opens in Gimp, but
Shotwell crashes. Save the image, open shotwell (order doesn't matter).

  * The image thumbnail doesn't change proportions to the edited image,
resulting in squashed image. And rotated images lose their rotation
information on screen. The underlying edited image is unaffected. This
happens only with images edited with the crash above; previous images
  are fine.

  * I am unable to permanently change associated data such as the
grade/stars. Once I quite Shotwell those changes are gone. Again, this
affects only images edited as above.

- * This happened with the update to Wily Werewolf. Previous Shotwell
- version was fine.
+ * This happened with the update to Wily Werewolf (Shotwell
+ 0.22.0-Ubuntu5). Previous Shotwell version in Vivid was fine.
